so- I play Salamanders, with GK allies
due to the nerfing of power swords in 6th ed, i went INSANE on the plasma.
each tactical squad has a plasma gun, plasma cannon, and two plasma pistols
i started to bring all plasma devs, 4 of my dreads were running plasma, it was just insane.
Would would be a good list to get more anti horde? my two main oppenets play orks and IG, so plasma seems like a waste on them
models i have avaible- (just as a note, the people I play against are pretty loose on proxying, like they wouldnt mind if i ran a rhino as a vindy, but not a rhino as a LR)
a multitude of commanders- 3 chapter masters/captins, 2 libbies
3 bikes- all maginitzed to be MoTF, Libby, and normal.
20 tactical marines
10 scouts
5 devasators
2 rhino chasisis.
1 chimera.
a few servitors
Coteaz
20+ warrior acoyltes
a Jaerko Weaponsmith
Also, i could run a BA force, with above and
10 sang guard
dante
mephistion
5 DC.

...How did you get two plasma pistols into a Tactical Squad? Making a Sergeant dual-wield them is technically legal but it's also a waste of points given that he can only fire one on a given turn...

That aside, as anti-horde goes, if you're facing Orks and IG, drop the plasma for flamers and missile launchers. Buy a few extra boxes of Marines and assemble them all as special/heavy weapons so you can switch out troops from your Tactical/Devastator squads for different weapons. Also you've got GK; psycannons and Incinerators are both fair anti-horde weapons, try a few Terminators and some Interceptors with both and see what happens. Focus more on the GK against the Tyranids than against the Guard, I'd think; paying all those points for Force Weapons is irrelevant against Guard, but TMCs are a good thing to have them against. Against Guard you might want dual-flamer or dual-melta Land Speeders too.

You mean other than the rule that specifically allows a model with two pistols to fire both?
