So im looking to start up some orks as i dont have a hordy type army. Orks just seem like extreme fun with being able to put out so many guys on the field. I like tyranids but already had them and not likeing guard so much. SO orks it is. Just looking for some list ideas. I like the idea of a green tide. its alot of models but would be alot of fun. I mostly play against DE, nids, and soon to be chaos marines. Just looking for some good fun lists doesnt have to be super aggressive. but still alot of fun.

Green tide is pretty simple. Bring two KFF meks, as many shoota boyz as possible, and as many lootas as possible, with maybe some deff kopta or dakkajet support. It's a pretty solid list from what i've seen and many people dread facing it. Only problem is av 14 like an IG tankline, but thats what we have PK's for.

Big swarms of gretchin to hold objectives in the back are your friend, cheap and a bugger to shift if they are behind terrain.

hmm so something like this for 1500 pt list. and then to expand on it of course get more boyz some more gretchin and lootas to. and work up the blitzas

2 big meks-kff, eavy armor, cybork armor

2 squads of 10 lootas

3 squads of 29 shoota boyz- big shootas, 1 nob-power claw, bosspole,
24 gretchin, 2 runtherd
19 gretchin 1 runtherd

blitza bommer

Other than the blitza bommer that's not a bad start. I'm not a fan of gretchin, but eh, that seems to be more personal opinion. I'd opt for more boyz instead.

As for the blitza bommer, they're terrible at their intended role (killing tanks) I'd probably get a dakkajet or some koptas instead.

Yeah, the list looks good. I'd be picky and split the Lootas into squads of 6/7/7, just so you have some more flexibility and reliability. And yeah, Dakkajet is much better than a Blitza Bommer, though, as has been said, some Buzzsaw Koptas may be nice to try and get rid of that pesky AV 14 early on.

so something like this would be good? and once i start to build upon it would be just more squads of boyz, lootas, and then maybe toss in some dakkajets and battles wagons or kans or something to fill out the heavy support

2 big meks-kff, eavy armor, cybork armor

3x 7 lootas

3 squads of 29 shoota boyz- big shootas, 1 nob-power claw, bosspole
2x 19 gretchin, 1 runtherd

2x deffkoptas- rokkit launcher and buzzsaw

WAAAAGH! welcome to da gitz! first of if yer goin' greentide go fer a list dat only contain tidy fluff stuff *nod*

as for example the price for your two deffkoptas would be 140, wich you could easily spent on a kannon crew instead behind a aegies defence line! + quad gun ;D

Waagh like a bawz

Yeah I think it would have potential.

Rokkit launchas are hit and miss for me but since you've got a buzzsaw anyways may as well go for broke on anti armor. It may well knock off a hullpoint on anything but the really heavy armor.

For my green tide, I take

At 1k

Warboss('eavy armour, power klaw, twin linked shoota)
Battle Wagon (Grabbin' Klaw, 3 Big shootas, Kannon, Reinforced ram, ard case)
10 Nobz ('eavy armour)
30 Ork Boyz (Choppas, 3 Rokkit launchas)
28 Ork Boyz (Choppas, 2 big shootas)
16 Ork Boyz(shootas, 1 big shoota)

I have a board stacked with terrain, so if you can't find cover a lot bring a mek w/ KFF.
Also I don't use lootas but I have heard a mob of them is good to have.

I would advise taking more Lootas instead of the Grots. With Lootas I go on the assumption that more dakka = good.

Something I have been very pleased with when using an Ork foot list is a Battlewagon with 10 Burnas and a KFF Mek on board (keeping the Wagon open-topped to avoid fire point restrictions). I also have a Deff Rolla on there. I used to take two extra Big Shootas on the Wagon to stop it being glanced to death but now we've got Hull Points I don't think I'd bother.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can also overwatch from vehicles now - handy with template weapons in a BS2 army.

I agree with the people recommending the Dakkajet. I always take them with the extra supashoota and a Fighter Ace. I find it's a bullet magnet but while the opponent is trying to hit the flyer, the Boyz can get closer...

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Ok so ill for sure be doing the lootas, boyz, meks, and gretchin for now. and then test out the kannons, dakkajets, deffkoptas as i go. the kannons could be fun. Also make a bit of sense since its mostly foot slogging. maybe toss in some stormboyz to get up clse and personal.
