One of the classic artists from the RT days has been uploading his old artwork from the 80s. Classic images from Rogue Trader, the Compendium, Compilation and Realms of Chaos.

I can't guess the story behind that piece, the Inquisitor's expression is one thing, but what of the guy face palming in the background? I've seen this art before, nice to have a copy now.

Inquisitor Makhno presenting the head of Genestealer Patriarch or some such, according to the artist's caption.

This art is really creepy.
I like it.
Love how the orkz look like they're from punk rock album covers.

Some good pieces in there. I loved the RT days. Such a different feel to the game.

Long before I started playing 40K properly I had the second edition starter box, and I used to just love looking at the artwork in the books you got with that such as the Codex Imperialis. These pictures of utterly insane and twisted looking characters and other crazy stuff like ships with whole cities on their backs were just presented without comment and you had to use your imagination to try and interpret what you were seeing. You really got a sense that in the Imperium everything was so off the wall that these weird spectacles were just part of everyday life.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics. |
