Hey, we haven't had a pricing thread in a couple hours... Way to ruin the streak.

That's like saying "smart price" beans from my local supermarket is better than the steak from the butchers. I mean, they're both food right?

If I made every purchase decision on price I would never have touched anything from GW.

Well we might be allot cheaper point wise too, so orks are not so cheap money wise either... look at the kannons 20p each and then the price tag.

No surprise that the newer kits are more expensive, especially after the release of 6th when everyone's buying flyers because of the new rules for them and thus GW is cashing in.

Of the pre-6th models Storm Talon is the same price as Bommer as well, and so are the Doomscythe/Nightscythe and Razorwing. Only Valkyrie and Storm Raven are more expensive, but they're also much larger models.

I've got two Talons, two Valkyries, two Bommers and a Heldrake, and at the moment it seems I'm not likely to get more unless Black Templars end up getting a flyer that isn't the Talon. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised to see the prices for the pre-6th flyers rise considerably when GW's annual price increase hits.

Damn, I was hoping to spawn a thread that went from a single entry on the many reasons to play Orks to a bunch of reasons.
Not a pricing thread, nor an argument about how Orks aren't competitive, but more of an Ork love thread.
You guys are angsty as hell and kind of mean today.

When your best flier looks better than several variants of dumpsters with wings, a goldfish with an assault cannon mounted to the chin, and flying fething cressants, that's not exactly saying much.

And to be perfectly honest, it's just a MiG 17, F86 Sabre with a bunch of extra junk bolted to it. Its the only flyer actually based on something that could fly

And you just explained how they built it. Step one: steal MiG. Step two: add gubbins. Done

Hehe, I love early Cold War-era jets, that's why the orky fliers caught my eye

Really, one of the reasons I took up Orks again was how versatile and customizable their kits are. The higher model count makes up for lower prices, but you might actually save some money from the HUGE stash of bits you'll eventually get... Hey, I just made myself a full unit of Big Gunz from three unused Battlewagon kannons, some trukk wheels and armor, and assorted gubbins!

Ork kits are the only ones I'll buy new from GW. The massive amount of bitz and gubbinz show what GW can do when they get their gak together and do something right.

I'm about to make a full unit of tankbustas from nothing but basic boyz and the dozens of rokkit armz and tankbusta bombs you get in the regular boy kit.

The fact that you can make literally any unit in the codex, and make them look good, with nothing but boyz, a trukk, and maybe a box of nobz or gretchin is nothing to sneeze at.

I think everyone's gonna need to brace for this spring when the existing cheaper flyers get hiked up to the DA flyer price. Especially since 6e is shaping up to be hugely about flyers, I frankly can't see it NOT happening, with GW's history.

I have been pondering getting a Razorwing to make a Nightwing Interceptor out of it, and I really do feel the urge to get one before I suddenly have to pay 75 dollars for it instead of 45........

I want to get a Dakkajet, but why would I, when I can just buy a mig 17 kit for half the price, stick an ork in it, strap a bunch of guns to it, and call it a day?

I mean, 50 bucks isn't too bad for it, but it still aint cheap.

Oh hey, don't get me wrong, I really like Orks, I got about 2k points worth of them at least, and I love the models. Currently I've been focusing on building my Templars, but Orks have been getting some attention too, with blu-tack + some glue assembly (equals playable) on 40+ boyz, 6 nob bikers and 3 kill kans, plus of course the pre-existing 10 lootas, 5 nobz and AoBR contents! One Dakkajet is also semi-assembled. It'll take me forever to get around to painting them with the marines taking priority, though. Only one single Ork painted so far, had to paint my favorite nob, he's a mean one!

That why i'm buying another 2 now from wayland games, only £22 each

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive.

um, you can casually play with 1-2 of the non-ork heavy stuff/fliers.

When the hell is a single dakkajet effective? Or for that matter a single BW? i have 5 BWs and its either i run none or a run 3+.
I almost feel like i spend more money than everyone else cuz in order to do any of the tactics i basically buy half my army again.
I have more crap than most of the gamers in my group and theyve played way longer than me. If i really wanted to i could field 5k points of orks, most of my friends barely push 3k. But thats all because its either a LOT of this unit or none of it, so im still spending a lot even if it looks cheaper.

Because the Dakkajet would look ten times better unless you're a master at converting.

The Tick: Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. well, it wouldnt be that hard to convert an A-10 model into a dakkajet. I was about to do it for 2 jets but then i got my hands on some cheap ebay dakkajet deals.

All i was gonna do was build it normally except i was going to make the body a bit wider (too narrow for an ork to fit normally) and saw off the engine mounts so i can put them in the new hole i just made at the nose when i made the body wider. Slap some extra guns on there, throw some glyphs on it, and build a stand for it.

Bam, dakkajet
