So the eldar skimmers get the 5+ jink save and the DE get the +1 on the damadge chart. All DE do these days (if your unn boats) is load them up with ranged weapons and have at it? Would it be better to do with eldar then with dark eldar? The De boats blow up veru easaly spraying everybody with S4 damadge.

Not really, since Eldar skimmers are missing the thing that made 5th edition DE effective: spammability. Eldar skimmers are too expensive to bring true spam, so they aren't a replacement.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Venoms are 65pts for a solid anti infantry gunboat. The Serpent is often twice that cost with significantly less firepower no matter how you set them up. This points difference is largely due to the difference in durability, but the problem is that once you get up close the Serpent is more of less just as easy to kill and when they cost twice as much that really hurts. That said the reality is that neither option is good, Venoms are too fragile and Serpents are too expensive.

In fact, Eldar skimmers are in a weak position these days. I remember that Falcons were almost indestructable. But now three glancing hits and the tank is wrecked.
Eldar skimmers are too expensive for what they can achieve. Their damage output is too low and the unit carried cannot charge out of the vehicle.
