Hi there!

I used to play CSM back with the old codex and so I have a pretty big collection from back then. However, now after looking through the new codex, I have to admit I have no idea how to build my force again! I dont have any experience with the current edition, since I kinda got fed up with the old CSM codex and shelved 40k for a while. Anyway, life-stories aside, this is what I have currently:

2 different Daemon Princes
1 Nurgle Terminator Lord w/daemon weapon (bit problematic since there are no nurgle daemon weapons anymore)
8 Khorne Terminators with varying weaponry
4 Nurgle Terminators with Lightning Claws
20 CSM with 2IoK“s, 2 flamers, 2 plasma guns, 2 champs with pfists
3x7 plague marines, 2x plasma, 2xmelta, 2x flamers, 3xpfist champs
enough rhinos to go around
Vindicator
Defiler
2x Land Raiders

And I have the Dark Vengeance set to work with aswell. Now, my biggest problem is that I dont have any solid troops, since due to the changes in the current codex, my MoK marines have become extremely expensive, since ive modeled them with the uber grit setup. Theyre also pretty heavy on the Berzerker bits, so making them go back to Undivided is not gonna work. I do have a Nurgle lord to unlock the Plague Marines as troops, but I would need a new setup for him. Besides, I dont even know how to field him in low level point games, since hes in Terminator armor.

So my biggest problems right now is the HQs and Troops, Im just not sure what to go for here. My army doesent follow a particular theme when it comes to gods, but I usually stay away from Tzeentch since MoT is usually pretty bad except on Elites and HQs. So anything goes when it comes to marks.

Edit: Quick inventory check and I forgot to add that i also have 4 nurgle Obliterators.

From the looks of it, Nurgle is the primary theme in your model selection.

For smaller games, use your Nurgle terminator lord as your HQ, backed up by your CSMs and Plague marines (as troops) - these look like they're already pretty well set up with decent special weapon options.

The reason your lord can work is because 6th ed has changed things a little - rhinos are now a choice rather than being an auto-take, due to hull points, no assaulting out of vehicles, and less effective smoke launchers. Foot-slogging lists are now on an equal footing with mechanised forces, aided by the rapid-fire weapon's long range move and fire shot. This makes a terminator amongst power armoured troops perfectly viable.

You're OK for fire support with your vindicator and oblits - the defiler is less efficient but still a viable choice too.

If you were looking to expand I'd think about some fast attack - this is where the real strength of the new 'dex now lies, and having faster units to threaten the enemy before your foot units get there will improve your overall survivability.

Well, for expanding, I'd go with either, (for elite) Khorne Zerkers, or Noise Marines. Don't go with warp talons, chosen, or mutilators. Helbrutes can be ok, but only if you know how to use them. You seem to have troops down. One HQ thing, the daemon prince I am making will have Daemon of Khorne, power armor, and the black mace. This is potentially 12 (on the charge), AP 4 attacks at WS 9 that woumd on 2+. In other words, the daemon prince will be a major threat. The fast attack section has some choices. Defineitely take a heldrake, with hades autocannon for light vehicle death, or baleflamer for doing what the daemon prince above does in combat, with shooting. The other fast attack that is good is the raptors. They can be used well, if given MoK. It seems like you are pretty set for the heavy slot, however the vindicators are always good. Forgefiends can be pretty cool as well. To wrap up, my advice would be 1 of the daemon princes with Daemon of Khorne with power armor and black mace. You have to get a heldrake.
