Hi im new to tyranids, can anyone comment this list, it will help a noob understanding the power of the hive master.

1 Hive Tyrant :185
Winged, Warp Field, 2x Scything Talons, Adrenal Glands ( +1ws and +1 ini)

1 Hive Tyrant :185
Winged, Warp Field, 2x Scything Talons, Adrenal Glands ( +1ws and +1 ini)


Lots of points tied up in this one beasty, for such a low points level. I would drop warp field and both adrenal glands, and just add toxin sacs, so that he wounds MEQ on 2+, and insta-kills swarm bases (a common tarpit unit). Once you get up to 1500, put warp field back on, and add toxic miasma - miasma has the same result as +1 WS, except that guardsmen (or other WS3 models) are reduced to WS2, and thus require 5+ to hit the tyrant. With just +1 WS, they require 4+ to hit. I really don't find +1 I useful on the tyrant.. he strikes before most models anyways. MEQ heros that are I5 require 6's to wound you anyways. Fists always go last, so higher I doesn't help you there. Anything with high initiative AND easily wounds a tyrant shouldn't be in combat with the tyrant. The flying tyrant is fast enough that it can choose its targets... put it someplace where you have little worry of getting wounded easily. If your local gaming area uses lots of terrain, you may want to consider adding flesh hooks as well.

These guys are way too bloated... drop toxin sacs, and the +1 WS. You're relying on their rending to do damage... not their normal attacks, thus making WS and S moot. +1 I however, I like, as it means you strike before dreadnoughts/wraithlords, and MEQ models, which can minimize return wounds, since warriors are only T4.

With the points saved by trimming off stuff from the tyrant and warriors, add some more bodies. The genestealers are fine, but I would try to get more models into the hormagaunt and termagaunt broods.

Thumbs up, looks good... though I personally don't think the extra wound is needed at 1000pts.

By dropping the chitin, and the other stuff from the tyrant/warriors, you go down to 925 points... you could add a brood of 14 spinegaunts with those points. Another scoring unit, and a great tarpit unit. Or you could add more models to the existing broods for more lasting power.
