What if Objectives didn't matter and FOC and one Codex weren't a restriction? What if you could build an army comprised of any units/heroes/vehicles from any and all codexes and FOC slots weren't an issue and the game was played as total destruction of the enemy, as opposed to Objectives? What kind of army would you build? (You'd still have to abide by points cost, and you'd still have to abide by the codex entry stats for the unit/hero/vehicle.)

Welcome to 2nd edition...the land of Blood Angels armies that were mostly made up of Eldar special characters with a few death company thrown in for fun or Imperial Guard armies with no actual IG troopers in them.

Regular Dakkanaut

A full army of Obliterators of Nurgle.
Only units of 1; in a very apocalypse way.
Would probably loose to some specific builds, but otherwise gives good resilience/flexibility (and who cares if they're slow if there are no objectives to grab).

Steadfast Ultramarine Sergeant

Every Space Marine special character, backed up by nothing but Honour Guard and Terminators of varying flavours. Deep strike the entire army in Thunderhawks and Storm Ravens, using the Grey Knights as meat shields and various Titans as heavy support.
The best part about this, is it'll be legal under the next C:SM.

An army composed entirely of manticores with Grey Knights defending against any chargers. Vendettas would take care of any fliers trying to ruin my pie plate party. I don't expect such an army to do well but massed artillery like that is too good to pass up.

Problem with apoc is you still need to get atleast some sort of force org going on. Theres so much stuff that just insta-pastes half your army if you dont watch it that you cant just mass something.

Doesn't Marbo start in Reserve, thus causing you to lose the game turn 1
