So this thread seemed more like it belonged here instead in the show case forum since its an on going project.

Anyway on to the goodies.

As for the scenery, I'm making a table of stuff to bring to the Bay Area Open. Now I could have built a diorama level detailed board, but it would be no fun to pay on since the models would fall over to easily on uneven dirt and debris and everyone would be worried about breaking the scenery ect. So instead I'm building lots of little pieces of scenery that look great together. The idea is to have an ork encampment near an imperial outpost, they have been slugging it out for some time. Orks on one side, trenches in the middle, and the imperials on the other side. It was a little tricky to get a placement style that didnt favor any one side, since this table will be used in a tournament situation. But I have figured it out and will have pictures of everything together once its more painted.

So here are some of the scrap items on the ork side. I made two collections of storage tanks and a scrap pile. The parts are mostly from a model train building kit with some supplement wooden bits here and there. Again the paintjob is on going as there are plenty of details for me to pick out and more weathering to do. But youll get the idea.

And now for some craters. I simply took these plastic craters http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/pls/pls91695.htm?source=froogle&gclid=CNuuwP2ngLUCFSmCQgodizsAEg cut them up, mounted them with hotglue, put some dirt around them, and dry brushed the crap out of them. More realistic then the GW ones and a hell of a lot cheaper. I got mine at HobbyLobby for $6, made 7 crater fields. Could easily double as minefields. Since my table will have lots of trenches on them eventually, I figured we need some craters since you normally shell the crap out of trenches.

And here are some of the tree bases I made for my forrest sections. The forrest section is designated with a random circular or kidney bean shape of green felt from Michaels Crafts. I then sponge on different earthy and snow tones to make it more visually interesting. The tree bases are wooden circles from Michael Crafts with dirt and pink foam glued down for a base. The trees are from the Lemax christmas displays and the pine trees I handmade from kitchen scrubbies and wooden dowels. Hotglue it all together and you have a tree base that doesn't tip over easy and is awesome to see on the table. Some orks thrown in for scale. I made 5 tree bases, enough for 1 small and 2 larger forrest sections on my board. I might make more in the future for an entire forrest board.

I love it man!! Orks are some of my favorite models and I love the terrain you made.

What did you use to make the earth like bases? I have been trying to do something similar but have failed to figure it out like that.
