As part of the Eldar army I'm starting, I want to mount a Farseer on a jetbike. I've looked at other conversions and I'm not crazy about them. My newest plan is to use the Vyper platform without the weaponry and mount the Farseer on the rear platform. Would you accept this as a standard Jetbike, or is it just too major a change?

Also, anyone else who has done complete model substitutions, do you generally find it to be accepted? Is it acceptable to you?

The size difference is mostly a hindrance to you, so I would be okay with it. Rule of Cool though... Will it look good?

If you do use Vypers only to substitute jetbikes I would be fine, but if you would use both the conversions and normal Vyper units it would be too confusing.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

I hope so. I still need to pick the model up but I have a reasonable idea of how to make it happen... creating the rear platform with a rail is the only step that is at all extensive.

I may eventually use the Vyper squadron. The only converted model in the army on the Vyper platform would be the Farseer; Warlocks are going on the standard jetbikes. Maybe I should look into what other modifications aside from the more elaborate paint job I can make to illustrate the difference at a glance.

Use Dark Eldar Venom (possibly with the low windshield.) It looks different enough from Vypers and is better suited to act as a transport.

Will the farseer be seater or standing in the rear? If you have him standing then it would never get confused with a normal vyper. Regardless, if you think its a cool idea go for it. You will find thataslong as you're clear with your opponents and the model isn't too similar to something else in your army that most folk won't care.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

He'll be standing in the rear on a platform. Planning on using the spear Farseer and having him hold a railing with a modified outstretched hand.

I do like the look of the DE Venom. First I've seen of the model, might be just what I need.

As a fellow Eldar player, I would suggest the Venom as it's excellent for what you want with zero conversion. It's what I am using to make my version of the 3rd ed Codex character Nuadhu Fireheart, who rides a special Vyper into battle, modified with a chariot-like fighting platform on the back.

I think it would be fire to use a conversion like that for your Farseer. It actually harkens back to the days of 2nd Edition, where I believe you could actually have a Farseer on the back of a Vyper.

Yep. Option for the vyper was a fighting platform which characters could fight from (like WHFB and chariots).

I still have mine made up from a few years back - even though I haven't played 40k in over a year and haven't played with my eldar since 4th ed.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

that's a very cool model, Chromedog!

Yeah, I finally got a copy of the 2ed Eldar codex for my efforts to play some 2ed games, and with those rules, I'm not really sure why I would ever put a character on a Vyper instead of a Jetbike, though, other than for a shuriken cannon option. Everything else seems the same between the two.

To the OP, I think it would make for a very cool standout character, as long as you don't mind the larger vehicle giving increased ability to draw line of sight to him/her.
