Original first post below:

So I recently did a Nurgle warband and realised how much I like converting and painting individual models, I also found out I like making scenery for the characters. Now, inspired by alot of the "blanchitsu" stuff going around I decided to make an inquisitor warband and a warband made of mutans and renegades. I'm thinking each warband will be about 10 characters that all will be individual.

So I placed quite a large order and will build this from chaos renegades from FW, gw zombies, flagellants, cadians, ork nobz, nurgle lord, cairn wraith and more Here is my first work:

WIP Mutant leader:

A conversion based of the nurgle lord. The head is ahlf zombie and half plaguebearer. The saw is from the nobs set and the gun is an ork gun. Obviously I got alot of work left to do, some GS work, tubings etc, what do you think of his weapons and pose? Both weapons will be abit "bionic" so he will have no hands etc.

WIP Inquisitor wraith:

Quite an easy conversion, replacing the head with a servo skull, added a parchment from the marine sets(will make it longer with green stuff) which he holds in his hand and then added some tubing.

As these are preliminary poses, conversions etc, let me now what you think!

Good starts. The ork buzsaw in particular is quite fitting for that figure.

Done some more work today! Here is the mutant leader with some green stuff and tubing, he's almost done!

This is a miniature I started today, the legs are made of plasticard tubing etc. I was thinking of adding arms but it didnt look that good. Think I will keep it as this and just add more details. What do you think? arms or no arms? Any suggestion for arms that would go well with it as arms are alot harder to do than legs.

So here's an update that I mainly did last night. I added a flamer to the "walker" and some other details. Quite happy with the results. I also finished the "wraith" conversion. Next up is a floating cyborg inquisitor warrior

hey, that walker looks great, the servitor manning it looks like he's having a tough day lol

your mutant leader reminds me of Homer Simpson but in a good way , keep up the good work.

I really like the walker with the flamer. Has a very Ecclesiarchy/Hereticus thing going on. I like the Nurgle Lord conversion as well, although as you said, now that Chaos Homer has been pointed out it cannot be unseen

Thanks for the kind comments!

Here is another update for today, I've finished the following model, he got lots of purity seals which are pulled back by the wind since he's going quite fast with his flying disc!

Tomorrow I'm making an executioner style ex-marine. For this miniature I need to look at some body-builders for reference materials, stay tuned!

Some very cool stuff.

Really rather like the walker and the wraith.

Floaty Cyborg blokes looks good...but please get rid of the mould lines down chain swords.

Looking forward to seeing some paint on these guys.

The mold lines are gone!

It's quite an honor that you responded to my thread as your inquisitor warband was a major inspiration for the stuff I've done!

Todays update!

The first model is an ex-space marine who now works for the inquisition, I got inspiration from the starcraft 2 character Tychus Findlay. I'm still going to add som inquisitor details like purity seals etc, also need to glue and sculpt on the axe to his hands.

The second model is a very early WIP. I basically think of him as an Intelligence officer for the inquisition, he got a cyborg crow who does reconnaissance for him. Basically I detest the scale of IG models so I elongated his legs, waist and arms slightly. He's about the size of a space marine but anyway I think the scale looks good.

At the moment I'm thinking of how I should paint the miniatures. I kinda want to go for very dark subtle colors. and I think I know how to achieve that. However, I'm not sure how to paint the skin. I want to go for the look below, anyone know how to achieve this "pinkish" very pale skin?

Also does anyone know how to paint a kinda dark worn brass color?

And another thing, should I go for a slightly more "true scale" look for all my humans that are based of IG etc?

I definitely am in favour of correcting the anatomy of Cadians. I guess the solution is to embiggen your Space Marine or use him as a power armoured human. It's a really great model and doesn't look particularly space marine-y apart from the legs - it could maybe be a crusader or something instead?

I think a strong height difference looks best and makes Marines look special, like how Migsula has ensured his marines tower over his humans by making sure there are no medium sized models.

Love the robo-crow too.

Yeah I guess I will elongate the legs of the ex-marine slightly, maybe 2 mm or something. He's slightly taller than the "cadian" atm. One issue is that some of my future "priest" chracters will look quite small in comparision sincer I cant enlongate some of them (resin and metal models). But I guess the "priests" could be slightly smaller and frail humans.

Yeah height variation is to be expected, it looks very strange in 40k guard armies that everyone is the same height and build. I think if you are using resin and metal models they will likely be better proportioned anyway, it's usually just some plastic kits that have the weird stumpy legs.

You could maybe add a couple of mil of plasticard in the space marine's shins or thighs or even under his feet, or perhaps move him onto terminator legs? He is already a great model so good luck, always never wracking to tamper with a successful conversion!

Haha, been there done that! I find one of the hardest part of doing conversions is to know when you're "done". It's so easy getting carried away and just make a model completely over the top. Sometimes I just need to tell myself, "put the miniature down and go do somethign else before you ruin it".

I like the marine...but I reckon you keep him as a large human. Does he really need a backpack since he is not wearing any torso armour/anything for it to attach to.

Hmm I'm thinking he got some sort of "cyborg connections" that his backpack is attached to. The "rings" on the front is supposed to be holes that his power armour used to be plugged in to and Im thinking the backpack is attached in a similiar fashion. But yeah I could consider removing it.

If you don't like the proportion of the GW human models the Perrys and a few others do some nice historicals which could be used Warlord Games 28mm WW2 could be very useful. Real cyborg field to the warband I partiularly like the ex marine although to me the Inquisitor looks more like a sage and less like a warrior which is definitely the option for a psychic Inquisitor.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Have been quite busy this week and haven't been able to do any modelling til today.

So here's an update for my Intelligence Officer and his crow. Is he enough "inquisitorial" for the rest of my warband?

A converted empire warrior priest. He is the same heights as the rest of the humans, "true scale". He will soon be getting a power hammer.

Wow, nice work. IMO the intelligence officer looks fitting. The only thing I'm bothered with is the use of a Guard sergeant head for him. I don't really like using them for characters, unless I have no other suiting head. But hey, just my opinion

Thaniks I didn't really find a better head, I've cut some scars to the head which I think will fit well.

Anyway, here's todays update:

This is the leader for my inquisitor warband. He is slightly taller than the rest of the warband. The "skirt" was quite hard to sculpt so have covered it up in parchments etc. Have ordered some additional bits including a head for him.

Here is the first painted model for the warband. The paintjob took about 3 hours from start to finish. I know I could have done it better but I don't like spending too much time on a single miniature as I easily feel burnt out then. Anyway really happy with the result. Also posted in showcase since I think it's so cool.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes he looks quite disturbing, indeed. I first painted his eyes like "normal" but then the black eyes just made him look like a complete sociopath.

Anyway, here is todays update. I painted the "wraith" while I'm still waiting for some parts to arrive. Not 100% happy with the paintjob but he looks very good together with the "servitor". Im going for a dark red theme on all of my warband and I also try to keep the painting quite minimalistic and gritty. So trying to avoid super clean and vibrant "line" highlighting.
