Yes. YES!

Well, looks like the vehicles I've been (very gradually) kitbashing from old Ork stuff will get a bit of an outing.

I'm actually thinking Beasts of Burden. The concept art were going that direction and it would differentiate Nomads from the main House Gangs.

I really hope so, i've been waiting for that since the original concept artwork way back when.

Someone mentioned the train hauler being kinda lazy... I think the Borderlands trailer was a bit unimaginative - BUT I'm still super excited for the new expansions! Can't wait for my orlocks to hit the dusty road. Never mind seeing where they go with the nomads.

Hope this doesn't escalate into big war rig vs super heavy battle tank, but i'm down to more ganger bodies or extra weapon bits, maybe we'll get plastic female orlock this time as one of the crew.

Also Ash waste pretty much give GSC a massive expansion head start.

It will be interesting if they do some terrain for this setting, since Necromunda has been responsible for some of the best-of-all-time GW terrain (and that's even more true if you include the "Pre-cromunda" terrain from Shadow War: Armageddon)

Was going to say exactly that, even down to the critter getting shredded. Very excited for it personally!

I’m genuinely mostly looking forward to folk doing conversion work for vehicles.

Because with Necromunda being a really collaborative effort, I’ve always found the players less, well I don’t mean to insult or disparage others, hidebound.

In that yes, WYSIWYG is pretty important. But, scratchbuilds and conversions have near always been the order of the day. And that’s rather freeing, creatively speaking.

Necromorka!!! Super stoked for this ash wastes expansion! Is it too much to hope for unique Orlocks sculpts?

I'm happy but also let the feth down by just a logo...it's like wtf GW.

Yes, we'll take anything that expands/revisits stuff from OG necromunda, but c'mon that was lacking.

Their big new 30k reveal was a demon model that we already have models to represent and...a new logo. Those are some spicey previews Gee Dubs, I can barely contain my excitement!

The bug that got squished sort of looks like the new logo, so I could see a new faction like that "new" warcry spider group. Bug masks and stuff. Not sure if that would look good, so hopefully they adapt that nomad artwork into something cool.

At the very least, I think ork and GSC players will have a wealth of new vehicles to customize and use in 40k.

I think that just makes you lucky? To be surrounded by chill players. I am also lucky. When my group realized the game needed it we were able to adopt house rules without a lot of pain.

But as you can see from the people tearing their hair out, page after page, over a typo in a statline for a weapon they've never used that's only available for a gang they don't play, there are plenty of struggling RAWzis who feel spurned by the entire system.

So my first thought was generic vehicles, a land train or truck, buggies and bikes.

But vehicles need crew and bikes need riders which puts you back in the territory of doing 6-9 different kits.

So maybe just a closed cab truck for the gangs and ash wasters get bikes and buggies?

Or, heaven help us, 2 years for unique bikes and buggies for every gang.

I want that land train.

I am stoked about Necro vehicles.

The only thing is, I hope White Dwarf or some official source publishes 40k rules for them too.

I use a lot of Necromunda-count-as for Brood Brothers and chaos Cultists, and if there are going to be vehicles for them, there likely aren't a lot of count-as options to put rules to them the way you can with infantry.

I'll houserule if I have to, but I prefer to restrict houseruling to Campaign design rather than army lists- it's just cleaner that way.

If we're really getting vehicle mode, I wonder if GCS will be the first to get an update, say WD article. They are already like 90% ready to go.

I'm not convinced by the wheel- looks much too thin for such a heavy vehicle, especially compared to the chunkiness of the animated wheels. I think the wheel is more likely for an associated buggy with similar design cues.

Really? Trucks carrying really heavy loads, like ICBMs have quite similar wheels so I don't see how a few containers might be too much:

I wasn't referring to the wheel diametre, which is fine, but the tyre width. As in, the width in contact with the ground. Lorries have much fatter wheels than smaller vehicles to distribute the weight better and provide greater traction.

The rumour engine wheel looks kinda rounded and thin, it looks more like an off-road buggy wheel. I hope the land train model will have chunkier tyres than that, with a more squared-off appearance like in the animation.

It also may turn out to be a perspective thing, and the rumour wheel is actually pretty thick.

Likely perspective.

If not? Suspensors mounted underneath the body of the vehicle for efficiency and to enable the greatest load of goods.

Someone pointed out over on Reddit that the wheel and suspension looked like a Squat Bike's rear wheels.

Thoughts?

We've already seen two squats in Necromunda... Maybe all the tongue in cheek/ vague squat rumours were Necromunda related, not 40k?

An actual Squat gang living in the Ash Wastes would be a lot less intensive to produce and a lot less risky than a full army...

And if you wanted someone to build a land train, well... Who WOULDN'T hire a Squat?

Quality detective work!

Really not thrilled by how this looks tho...

Maybe the design really is down to the tiny amount of resources allocated to N.

One sprue with the tiny cabin and the wheels that you use to convert munitorum containers into a land train, and that's it.

I've been wondering what kind of terrain is going to come with this expansion. Sure, it wouldn't make sense to have the board as densely packed as fights in the Underhive. Just an appropriate mat should be fine, with maybe some occasional rocky outcrops or rubble here and there.

If GW go down this route though they're passing up an opportunity to sell us more stuff.

Rocks, wrecks, dunes, ruins immediately spring to mind, perhaps with actual defined roadways. Not necessarily tarmacced, but areas which see heavy traffic so are more compacted, potentially allowing for higher movement?

There’s even one of those exact things in the trailer; a trackway worn so deep in the dust that it’s halfway up the wheels of the truck/train thing.

Yes, all sounds feasible. Roads might play a big part if one gang is trying to get away from the opposing gang.

I guess settlements or strongholds won't be relevant for this game. Even Ash Waste Nomads probably don't have any permanent settlements (the clue's in the name ) though maybe tents or buildings which can be disassembled and transported easily could be a thing for some scenarios.

I was going to say roads are an awful use of sprue space but I guess they could do two 1 foot sections in one of the same size of mold used for the ZM tile, and 3 of that sprue would cross a 6 ft board. Investment rises dramatically if you want to do bends and intersections tho.

They could also do cardboard roads like the old Dark Future game…
