Lionhardt is complete!

I have a big battle coming up, a big siege battle (myself and allies on defense) so I'm prepping for that. Gonna be bringing all my fortifications to hold back the Tyranids, Traitors, Orks and more.

Lionhardt has several things written upon his armored shell. The front right shield on his chest is the big 91 with the left having the number 25 in Roman Numerals (for kicks) with "Eques Fortis" as well meaning "Knight Gallant" in latin (or high gothic)
His name "Lionhardt" is squeezed onto the top chestplate as best I can with a sharpie and a giant hammer handle in the way.

His left pauldron (BECAUSE SHOULDERS ARE VULNERABLE), has "militis apparatus" on it meaning "Machine Soldier" with a little Hammer and Sword crossed beneath it (because emblems).

The Right pauldron has "Imperium iustitia fieri", google translated its "Empire justice will be done" with a little Shield emblem underneath Imperium.

Now to paint that spider tank and a few other things

Massive Seige Battle!
4 vs 5 with my Ad Mech Tanks, Knight and Skitarii, DeathWatch Marines, Tau (a reasonable threat that is not of concern considering!) and Dark Angels + Knights

Vs Nurgle CSM + Demons with a Knight, Nids, Chaos Knights with Brass Scorpion, Khrone Bezerkers, Orks.

WE have a massive citadel in the middle of the map with armies on either side, their objective was to capture and hold the Aquila Strong point (or the ruin under it later) for a full turn. NEVER HAPPENED HERETICS!

There was a rule for the attackers that let them bring back troops. The Chaos Knight guy decided to pull true and made his Knights Troops (it was agreed that if there was another match, it would be NON-VEHCILE troops to prevent such )

The Mighty Shadowsword "Engine of War" scored 3 Knight kills, and 1 Land Raider kill. My Skitarii held even against the stacked odds. The Brass Scorpion barreled through the fortress and crushed a Bastion and the Aquila Strong point. But The Gladiator Quad tank managed to flank behind it and unleash its arsenal and killed it utterly after it was weakened by countless shots from all sides.

Even with the Brass Scorpion dead, the heretics and xenos kept coming. Kharn the Betrayer himself (or perhaps someone that looked like him) appeared and attempted to kill a large group of DeathWatch marines, my Vanquisher Sasha killed him with an instant death Beast Hunter shell in a single shot. Skitarii on the ground report the shell tearing through his torso before detonating and utterly vaporizing him from existence.

A War boss later disabled the Gladiator but before the War boss could make a few more steps toward the objective before he was killed by another Beast Hunter Shell from "Sasha"

The Hammer Cannon Vanquisher dueled a Great Unclean one and nearly managed to kill it, but it charged through a fortress of redemption bunker it had destroyed before charging the Engine of War. Its blows damaged the mighty Shadowsword but the tank held and fired its cannon one last time, gutting a Knight that tried to approach its objective.

A lone Skitarii that had survived the insanity around him ran to the objective and held it but in the end it was a draw (khorne guys were there, and it was contested)

A great battle that I surprisingly survived and so did my tanks which did epic things.

The Gladiator survived the explosion from the Brass scorpion without a scratch, Sasha killed a WarBoss and Kharne with its Beast Hunter shells, Lionhardt killed a Chaos Knight (even though it disabled him at the same time). My guys did a lot. Tau and Deathwatch held back a lot of stuff too, Tau held by the Nids for the whole match and its Storm surges still did a lot of damage to anything they could see. It was a good battle.

The giant toy aircraft carrier has arrived. A giant hunk of nearly 3 foot long plastic with working spring loaded launch ramps, lights, and more.

Its smaller than I remember it, then again, I was a kid when I had it and the original one I had didn't have lights (I don't remember them anyways). Either way, testing (read: just placing objects on top of it) shows that the itty bitty Land Speeder Tempets "Proto Flyer" fits perfectly on the flat top, and I can imagine that a smaller StormTalon could fit as well, if a bit snugly on the flight deck.

Thankfully, GW had the foresight (I think) to have practically every single aircraft in the Imperial Navy (if all of 40k) have VTOL capabilities (except maybe Orks, but you never know with orks...)

The list of additions to turn this childs toy into a giant weapons of destruction in the Omnissiah's name is extensive including but not limited too.

1. Large sets of tracks for it to run on. I mean like Crawler/super sized tank treads.

2. armor plate (duh)

3. Heavy defensive armament. Plenty of Quad lascannons, AA Missile launchers, Vertical Launch tubes (using the Preator missile stats, only a lot more shots), perhaps even quake cannon turrets. Maybe could build the equivalent of the CWIS... Like a super long range punisher cannon with higher ST and a Ork waaaghs worth of shots to shred aircraft.

4. slightly enlarge the flight deck. The toy currently has little edges on the tarmack that is supposed to be the gantry the crews run around on, expecially on the foredeck where they launch the aircraft.

The flight deck could be slightly extended from these points, if only to accommodate the far larger imperial aircraft. I think the obvious limit in terms of aircraft size would be Valkyries who woulc have to sit sideways on the port side of the flight deck. The whole of the Starboard will be other things.

5. New Conning Tower, built more like a Bastion that anything, lots of heavy dakka all over it and then some.

6. Build its rules. (fun....)

It will be done, for the Omnissiah!

I got a shipment of bitz that includes parts of a SM command squad and two Land Speeders. Ill work the Speeders into Tempests for the Land Carrier and the SM parts will be built into a close-as-I-can-get version of my character from Eternal Crusade.

An Imperial fist marine who has been toping the charts more often than not (at the very least, I believe my average is 4th, of course there are bad days/matchs but what are you gonna do?). Not sure what Ill arm him with, but I want to give him his own rules and such for fun.

I'm drawing up plans for the chassis of the Land Carrier. Due to its hull shape its gonna be impossible to just sit down and glue stuff on, that and I don't believe the plastic the ship itself is made of will work with the plasticard or plastic from GW parts (I think its got something to do with the chemical formulation of the plastics). I'm gonna try an experiment where Ill drill a hole into a sheet of plasticard and into the ship itself (creating a "foundation" of sorts). The plasticard would be screwed into place on the ship with other plasticard bitz and GW bits glued to the plasticard foundation.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
An hour or two of work. 90% of that used looking for bitz and getting distracted by the TV I put on.

When I ordered the Space Marine bitz, I had forgotten that all the legs in the bitz site were out of stock, so sheepishly I scoured my bitz to try and find some Space Marine legs.... The only two I could find have more parchement on them than a priest who couldn't correct the mistakes made by his ink quill. I searched through my brothers stuff as well, he used to run Dark Angels (now runs chaos, hes gone through a ton of different armies) and he still has a bunch of sprues of Dark Angels/SM stuff, including arms and weapons... But no legs (uggh!) The only legs I found were from a Tactical Dreadnought armor (Terminator) which of course doesn't fit a standard space marine at all. Ill have to spend the extra $ to get a single box of normal SM from GW (aka at the hobbystore down the street) just for some legs!

But the Land Speeders had all the parts I need. I glued them together enough to get the basic chassis. Now I just need to modify them with an assault cannon and missiles to get them into Tempests.

But in my digging I found a Termiantor body with no head or arms and I cannot recall where it came from. I wanted to build a character of some sort so I bolted in a Vanguard Skitarii head and a lot of guns onto the armored suit.
I call him Beta-213-Neit. A giant Skitarii in a heavily armored body with more than enough weapons and armor to protect his charge (my main characters) from anything the galaxy might try to throw at them.

He is armed with an Assault cannon, Power Sword, Autoloading Missile launcher and Melta gun to practically anything that he could face. I would give him a profile, but not at 1am in the morning.

Ill also go get a box of legs at some point.

Currently in England for Christmas, planning on going to Warhammer World on Tuesday After Christmas, aka "Mecca" as I and several others I know refer to it as if your a 40k player/fan.

NOt sure what I'm gonna get while I'm there. Hoping to find something cool! Will take a lot of pictures of all the cool stuff.

After I get back to the States, I have to move to Orlando for going to Valencia then UCF. After I get settled and move over 90 plus plastic tanks, countless infantry, Super Weapons, and a massive set of fortifications to my new place Ill resume construction on projects. Ill try to draw up further construction plans for the Land Carrier. I want to name it the Habakkuk, after the crazy British project to build a massive aircraft carrier from Ice. Obviously, this massive machine is not made of Ice. But I like the references.

Ill get back after settling down and whatnot. Perhaps with blueprints or plans scribbled on paper.

I got a bunch of 40k related stuff from Christmas and on the trip in England after visiting Warhammer World.

First off, why on earth do they leave the door open!? the game hall is freakin cold! But beyond that it was a lot of fun. lots of new stuff since I was there last (like 2 and 1/2 years ago) and all that.

I got an exclusive Knight head and the SM Command Tanks (also exclusive) while I was there as well as 3 boxes of Skitarii. Also the Imperial Armor book for Space Marine war machines for Christmas too.

On top of it all is a little 3d printer (it is smaller than I thought It would be). either way, its a neat little device and I'm already testing it. I printed out a little tank turret (that is a bit too small on a 40k tank, but might work on a Chimera, either way). its a bit bendy but I think it might have to do with the settings I used.

I'm gonna have to keep testing to get the balance between time and quality.
I know that the printer won't be making a tank exactly like the injection molded plastic of the GW (or other kit) models.
But I should be able to use it to supplement projects such as extra parts or weapons.

As I type my second test (a Tiger tank hull) is projected to take like 9+ hours to finish (full time, not as of now). I might end up sticking to smaller single parts / units as opposed to larger things like Tank hulls. Heck that test turret was like 4 hours as is.
anyways. I have to arrange to move to Orlando and a bunch of other stuff. projects are slowed at the moment. Ill keep testing the 3d printer as I can just turn it on, give it a project and let it go all day by itself (long as It doesn't run out of material or something.)

I have acquired a truly massive machine. A 1/72 P-1000 Ratte model. A gigantic tank.

The behemoth is longer than 2 baneblades end to end, is only slightly thinner than a Baneblade is long, and its taller than a Baneblade with its turret in place.

I intend to build a massive battleship tank, a big brother to a Baneblade and a massive Titan on treads. Lots of Dakka is planned. main turret Mori Quake cannons, a giant hullmounted gun, coaxial Vulcan mega bolter, and many, many more secondary and tertiary guns.
Foes of the Omnissiah will be crushed under its massive treads, even the mighty Titans will have a God machine to challenge them.

I hope to start on the monster suspension this weekend. I will need to scavenge all the extra dakka, but I cannot wait until this behemoth is done. Even if it never gets into battle (i doubt there will be many who would dare fight such a monster without using alot of or Titans of their own)

+1 for knowing about the Habakkuk- not one of WWII's better known crazy (but possibly workable) schemes; I had read somewhere that the initial idea might have been Churchill's.

Likewise- rock on with your super-battle-wagon-dreadnaught-titan-panzer tank! I love the idea! Is there a possibility to give it its own scout aircraft on the rear deck- like the seaplanes on their catapult rails on the sterns of Iowa-class battleships?

Oh, and subbed!

The P-1000 suspension is underway. The instructions on the 1/72 P-1000 isn't actually that complex. But the pieces are numerous and require a lot of assembly.

The pic only has half of them on there, but the other side is almost done. I am still surprised how cheap the monster is, especially given its size. It was less than a GW baneblade even after tax and shipping yet it utterly dwarfs a Baneblade.

If this works out, Ill try to save up and get another one and use its hull for the Land Carrier.

Best of luck with getting the tracks onto it. I particularly like how big it is considering it's a 1:72 scale thing rather than 1:36 or 1:48 that is the usual scale match.

Quick update. The suspension is in and now I must assemble the tracks of the mighty tank/Landship.

The plastic bag contains all of the individual track links. To protect my fractured sanity, I'll only do half of the tracks (the bottom of it, and a little up the sprocket wheels and the idler wheels. ) I hope to be adding vast amounts of dakka soon.

Giant Titan sized tank continues.

The tracks are on, but they are made of a different plastic so they don't cooperate with my plastic glue (its not GW glue, I couldn't remember the brand if I tried, its a red tube). So I need to get some super glue to attach the tracks to the suspension.

The turret and main guns are in. The crazy part about the kit is while the instructions and picture show two guns in the turret, the kit comes with 4! Not to mention other duplicate parts.

The main guns the model has don't feel like the barrel diameter wasn't wide enough, so I want to add plastic pipes one inside the other for a larger bore. They are not glued on until I get the other pipes. Gonna be a ton of dakka all over the tank when done.

Vertical Missile System in progress.

The Missile in the tube is from a kit that displays a series of Cold War missiles of different sizes, including the Titan 2, SS-18, Peacekeeper and more, even down to tiny (compared to the others) Tomahawk (a missile the length of a car..),
Which missile it is specifically Im not sure. Its either a Polaris A-3 missile or a Poseidon Missile. Minus a small peg it would sit on in the display the kit comes with, the missile is unaltered, so its a short-stocky missile (best guess it would be used on a Submarine due to its compact nature, so I guess its fitting...)

The real design of most VLS is to divert the exhaust into a seperate tube or something. But an idea came to me that it would just feel 40k to divert the VLS missile exhaust into the large exhaust of the main tank so its huge pipes erupt flames when a missile is fired. Im hoping to find a way to simulate this effect. If not, the current visible missile is simply raised into a firing position, so I don't have to tear it off and fiddle with the hatch.

Hats off to you!

The model of the P-1000 is surprisingly cheap for its massive size. I got it for about $110 with tax and shipping (your results may vary, but from googling they generally hover around the $100 mark). A single model by itself would be able to hold smaller craft such as Land Speeder Tempests in the same manner a proper carrier could (having some of them stored internally or even on deck.)

A larger craft such as a Thunderbolt, Lightning or Valkyrie, can fit. but will be really snug and maybe get 1 or two on board unless a large flight deck is built, even then the larger size would be awkward.

A truly mad idea would be to have 4 of these kits and their hulls welded together to give enough space for a gigantic flight deck to support the larger Aircraft. Considering though that 4 of these monsters are cheaper than even a single Warhound titan (plus, weapons, shipping, etc).
Oh boy....

If you decide to build a Massive Land Carrier, Good Luck! I hope to do so at some point should time and funds allow.

The giant continues. Kinda.

I got out the photo box? booth? whatever its called and got another size comparison with the P-1000 mostly assembled. Still crazy it dwarfs Baneblades with ease yet is cheaper than them $ wise.
A bit of ADD hit me and a never-built CHar 2C and Galvanic ServoHaulers looked like they would fit together. So I thought, Why not a big Repair/Recovery/Crane Tank to follow around the really big tank?

The front 75mm main turret on the Char 2C is a bit too small for the Crane to fit into, but some tinkering might get it to work. I want it to turn and spin, so I might need to modify the base of the crane to make a flat turret ring or something.

The Char 2C would probably have a few defensive guns, Such as the rear turret being fitted with an auto cannon, not to mention other guns like the hull machine guns being changed to bolters or something. Will need plenty of Tech priests to man the Char.

Looking good! I always wanted to use a Char 2C as a super-heavy- making it into an armored recovery vehicle is a great idea. For defensive ordinance, consider the arrangement of extra turrets the Soviet T-35 had (another fun super-heavy, and I _do_ have one of these waiting in the wings in 1/35 scale). You could mount two large and two medium turrets at the four corners of the Char, with lascannon or autocannon in the big turrets and heavy bolters in the smaller ones. Build up a collar for the crane rig to sit on in the middle, and the rig would clear the turrets when deployed up, and the turrets would each cover a sector when the rig was folded down into travel mode.

And yes, something as big as the P-1000 (or the T-35) would need a huge recovery vehicle following them around. Only six T-35's were ever built, and only one saw action against the Nazis: the others all broke down or had to be abandoned for other reasons before they could ever engage the enemy.

This is gonna be fun- I want to see how this pair develops!

P-1000 Continues, after having to deal with class work and stuff.

Added a few pipes and pieces to the rear of the tank. Hoping to get some big exhausts on the rear or have a series of vents on the rear and out of the way of the turrets.

Frontally a Volcano Cannon has been mounted in the bow of the tank. I wanted a Plasma Annihilator, but I got lazy and used a smoke stack from another model (its name escapes me). The smoke stack is perfect for a large bore energy weapon. Plenty of vents and things to look the part.

I am considering a big pair of sponsons with multiple weapons inside and turrets on top. Autocannons, heavy Bolters, battlecannons and the like. Possibly even Earthshakers facing fowards.

IM hoping to get a second one of these monsters for my birthday in September. Adding a flight deck and conning tower to build a Land Carrier, able to launch smaller craft like Tempests. Assembling the hull itself is just annoying with the sheer number of parts in the suspension system, not to mention the tracks. But a giant Land Carrier would be glorious.
