I'm also interested in seeing the SW list. How could he take 2 squads of grav cents in an allied detachment?

Sentinels of terra allows grav cents as an elite and heavy support choice.

Yeah, that list will be everywhere until events start lifting detachment limits, which I think will happen by next year's NOVA at the latest.

Players like Werner, James and Tony are a pleasure other than being very good they are also extremely friendly and nice to play. Thank you for that.

That round 5 was one of the best games I've ever played! Really enjoyed it. It was a pleasure to meet/play you, hope we get a rematch at some point!

@Dorner, Nice games friend. Only got to see one game live but it looked fairly well played. You should check up on your multi-charge rules however, that Quadruple charge vs. the 15 year old was waaaaay illegal as played.(• A charging model must end its charge move in unit coherency with another model in its own unit that has already moved.) You moved into B2B with 3 of your 4 nominated targets before daisy chaining towards your 1st declared target. I think you would have failed to make contact with his WS x2 and Wraithknight had you done it right. Only karma kept it in check by you failing your H&R roll in the next turn. I'm also on the fence about you not taking a -2" on that same charge distance but alittle help from the peanut gallery would be welcomed. The rules say (kinda vaguely) that you choose the shortest path possible to make it into base to base contact and if that goes through terrain, you get the negative modifier but it doesn't say which target you have to nominate as the shortest path available. I'd assume it's the first as it's the only one you are guarenteed of making into combat with but if you can indeed say each model can choose seperate path to any declared target as long as it can get there unimpeded and as long as all other targets are already engaged then...well...you did it right. The kid was inclined to ask. That too would have limited some of those multicharge possibilities.

The kid was pretty sharp on his rules aside from the aforementioned 'nades and I was impressed with him trying to make a game of it.

Anyways, had fun watching. I hate beastpacks and seeing yours buffed to the Golden Throne and back had me sitting there with my eyes peeled.

You are only required to take the shortest path(outside of the first model) if it will either A. get you into BTB and you couldnt otherwise, or B is required to become engaged unless you couldn't otherwise. However yes you have to be very careful when moving your multi-charges and be sure to do them one at a time.

I was under the impression that if you take tigurius you can't use sentinels of terra, you have to use ultramarines. I'm still confused how you can take tigurius and 2 squads of grav cents in an allied detachment.

You take marines primary and then take the space wolves formation in your allies slot.

Thanks, was under impression it was done right at least to the affect of the end position. Have reread the multi assault rules and the end result/position was correct althrough the execution was wrong. What I should have done was after moving the closest model into the primary target build up a string to the second target and then once engaged build a string to the 3rd and so on and then add in extras to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th keeping as well as to hold coherency to the infantry (it doesn't say have to complete one multi charge before moving on to the next) and as I kept coherency the end result would be the same.

Good luck at the golden throne.

I figured deamons would be popular and ended up half my games were vs deamons. I summoned a few myself with twiggy and all the dice I had...

Had a blast and can't wait till next year. Thanks to all the folks who put on a fun time. Seemed to me the abusability of the terrain was rather important. Pretty much was why I went with aerial assault so as to not worry about the terrain.

Gonna miss those mindstrike missles...

Also wanna say wow to the raffle armies and the money generated. My friend Beef won the space marine army and words can't express how beautiful that army truly was in effort and all. Great effort for good causes. Everyone wins! Thanks again and look forward to next year....

I (James Ramsay) finished 12th after dropping my list was:

Daemons/daemons

Kairos
Keeper 2 greaters 1 lesser level 3
2x11 horrors
Daemon prince of slaanesh flight armour level 3 2 greaters lesser
Daemon prince of slaanesh flight armour level 3 greater exalted
Belakor
3 nurglings

I played screamers in the invitational and after seeing the terrain swapped to flying mcs which were really good, all the speed and powers like shriek/pavane/beam of change did a number on the slower armies and invisible units. I only actually lost 1 flying mc the whole tournament due to lack of anti air .

Then you can't put both squads in drop pods because you can only take 1 fast attack pod.

No, you're thinking allies detachment. He is speaking about the new SW detachment from the SW supplement. There you can take more fast slots.

Nvm, I just saw the list. It uses a librarian instead of Tigurius. It's almost identical to the list I came up with when the new SW codex came out. I use a stormfang instead of the second squad of cents and tigurius instead of a librarian but other than that it's the same list. I wonder how it will do in a tournament that isn't house ruled so heavily.

Dorner, IIRC in the finals game you could've chosen to score objectives continuosly through the game instead of only in the last turn - wouldn't that have been better?

No I would likely have any ended with less primary points. The way it works as alternate is:
Start each own turn (from turn 2 onwards):
+ 1 bp if control at least two
+ 1 bp if control more than opponent
+ 1 bp if control 2+ more than opponent.

I could hold three and Tony three from turn two onwards leaving me with 3+1+1+1 = 3 points (the 3 is from when I pushed forward turn 1 and highly speculative as Tony could just use on of his serpents to deny me) which is best case the same as the 6 I got. Also you choose missions before rolling psychic powers. Had I got invis I could have scored many more in both alternate and normal.

It's interesting to see the difference between East and West Coast tourneys (i.e. the BAO vs Nova) and the differences between the metas. The West Coast, with the allowance of Forgeworld, tended to be more Marine-dominated. The East, without the allowance of FW, tended to be more Eldary. Very interesting how the allowance of FW changes the meta indeed!

I was the 16th place Crons, list was:

HQ1: Overlord - CCB, 2+/3++, Warscythe, Tesseract Labyrinth (Warlord)
HQ2: Overlord - CCB, 2+/3++, Warscythe, Tesseract Labyrinth

Royal Court 1: 2x Stormteks
Royal Court 2: 2x Stormteks

Troop 1: 5x Warriors, Night Scythe
Troop 2: 5x Warriors, Night Scythe
Troop 3: 5x Warriors, Night Scythe
Troop 4: 5x Warriors, Night Scythe

Fast 1: 10x Scarabs
Fast 2: 6x Scarabs

Heavy 1: 3x Spyders
Heavy 2: 3x Spyders

Really enjoyed playing this list, ran the same thing in the invitational and went 3-1 there (including beating Tony - albeit he didn't have the spinners in his invite list. He said swapping to add the spinners was in response to how our game worked out, they definitely would have helped him a lot vs the scarabs with the LOS blocking terrain making scarabs hard to target at all before they've already made a charge).

Well Grats to the winners and good showings of everyone else!

C'mon guys lets save the typical complaining/banter..., "this is broken", "nova should of stopped X", "This is way to powerful"...

The guy who the Open, a field of about 200 entrants. Did it without seer councils, without imperial knights, without cents, without beastpack ally, without cent star, without Psychic powers or levels, without allying anyone, without supplements.

This speaks volumes... and save me "he had 4 wave serpents". 4 serpents is a blessing to see on the other side of the field, appose to 7,8, or 9.

To be fair he had 5 serpents but your point absolutely stands and I couldn't agree with it more. Also let's look a the fact he's won nova 4 times and won adepticon twice? So it's pretty clear he is a pretty dang good player regardless of what he's playing.

Well lets not make it out as though he was running a weak list....serpents are as good as anything on the above list (better than some). I would also argue that 5 + other stuff is a better list than 7+ serpents with less support. But the point stands that on the top tables all the players were strong and all of them brought powerful units. That is what happens at tournaments, you never see a top list and go "wait that guy was running what?!!!" People take powerful stuff that isn't news...and won't be as long as GW designs an unbalanced game.

I think you missed my point completely... lets just avoid the 4 pages of your view vs. mine on this game and list and possibilities of X Y Z... We agree to disagree.

Again, Grats to the winners. With what was available and playable, Tony did a fine Job. i dont know the guy at all, just the games I watched streaming on Twitch via Torrent of Fire.

I agree with this point as well and want to add that I think once everyone embraces that aspect of the game we will see more balance and more big stuff on the table. Guess we shall see.

I guess to elaborate on my post, I am just so dismayed to see yet another Eldar Wave Serpent spam list take the top. Not because of the " that unit is totally OP" reasons, but because how on earth has this list not been figured out yet? Being that I am unfamiliar with Eldar, is the Wave Serpent really that good?

Also what is this thing about him having his list tailored to the tournament? I don't understand why people are saying that about him could somebody fill me in? I saw that his team was NOVA which I guess is a little fishy, but hardly a reason to call for any kind of rigging or whatnot....
