Hah, the table of shame is just a lot of half finished projects ready to be busted out in short order. I'm currently trying to burn through a lot of my minis to meet a relatively insane painting goal for the year and I'm finding that discovering half painted minis or things that have been primed for years is really quite a godsend
Plus your table of fame is ridiculously awesome, you should be quite proud!

Indeed - the table of fame far outweighs the table of shame
And look at it like this - you have a table full of fame, and only a table of shame, whereas I might be able to scrounge up a notebook of fame, and have a full room of shame

Bear in mind the Table of Shame only goes back two years. If I dug out the past, say, 8 years of stuff it would include all the unfinished vehicles and a few other buildings. Also, I omitted all the unpainted minis (perhaps 150 or so).
The Table of Fame would have some lovely eldar/desert terrain. The last stuff I did when I still played the 40k (end of 4th ed.)
Thanks for the kind words guys Cheered up an old man (I did mention the bifocals. Pick em up later today. Got the Progressive lenses instead of the classic bifocals. Sigh.) on a cold (-6 C) morning.
But there is progress. I finished the papercraft vehicle. I give myself a Gentleman's "C' for a grade. Too many little mistakes, and a couple of regular mistakes. But it was a learning project, and goal achieved there. Next one will be much better done.

Middling grade aside, I like it. A fun project. And a nice change of pace from what I usually do. I'm debating whether to build one of the other vehicles or start the ship. I'm thinking more practice before I try the ship.
Which looks the most interesting?

I'm leaning towards the dump truck myself.
Anyway, links for the projects here http://cp.c-ij.com/en/contents/2027/list_15_3.html
Thanks for stopping by.
Edit: typing is hard before I've had my morning coffee.

You want that Komatsu. Dump truck is useful, do not doubt, and the dozer/pusher can be handy... but the sheer versatility you can get out of something like the (track/back)hoe/large excavator can not be understated. Dig holes, dig trenches, move stuff from one pile to another. Load up that dump truck...
It makes a good combo with your loader too. Although if they loader's bucket has a range of motion such that it can reach the dump truck's bed conveniently, then that's pretty useful too.

It does in fact move The wheels turn to, and the front end pivots. I must admit I always thought of papercraft as static, but this thing has shown me otherwise.
Who says I won't eventually make all 3? You must admit, the entire set of 4 would look pretty cool together, on a shelf or gaming table.
For gaming though, maybe re-build them after printing them out at 1/53 to 1/56 scale (most likely 1/55) so they scale better with 28mm minis. Although with the new upscale Infinity stuff, maybe 1/50- 1/53? I'll have to experiment

With the amount of work/time that goes into making just one wall, there's no shame in that table. Especially considering the quantity on the table of fame. Good work Red.
Good job on the loader too.
To me, the thing on the left looks the most interesting. But go with what grabs you the most, as that will be what you build the best.

Colonials? You mean These guys, the GW Colonials Yes, that is what GW stands for around here.
I'll finish a few more projects from the Shame Table before starting on the... Dump Truck (then the other two, of course). I think I need to do a better job on the wheels, and of course, after I finished the wheels on the front end loader, I figured a better way to assemble them. Figures, eh?
Got to get to painting a mini tonight though. Or at least put some paint on a mini.

Yes!! A Double Post. Another blow against the establishment.
So a little painting done last week. And a little more this week, but I need to upload the photos from paint the mini Sunday 18 January. These are from last week.

This would be Lem the Iconic Bard from Pathfinder. I'm more or less going with the studio paint scheme on it. Essentially base coated. I think the goal is to get everything to that state, then go back and tidy things up at my leisure. Probably a bad plan, but It's the only plan I have At least for the moment.
The other thing I managed to do, and the only other thing-- no time for much at all-- was to play around with a notion of scale cars, 1/55 scale, that would fit with Infinity. the usual theory is that the miniature's bases interfere with one's perception, a trompe-L'oeil if you will. So I scaled a papercraft car ( a Nissan Sylphy) to the appropriate size-- that of a full sized car anyway, although it may be a bit wider (7" or so, in scale) than it ought to be.)
Without Base

and with base

I'm not convinced that the base does much. The car seems to be the 'right' size to me, but maybe the building in the background is affecting my perception.
Here it is with a few other figs
Again, I think it looks fine without the base. At any rate, having the papercraft car handy, I'll have something to judge scale when/if I go looking for vehicles. Otherwise I'll need to figure out how to scratch build them... like I won't eventually try that anyway

That looks pretty good actually, surprised by the final output considering it's created from a sheet (or two?) of paper... Now you need to make some wrecked versions, which given the medium will be relatively straightforward to do

The height seems more natural with a base. I'm definitely not tall enough that my car only goes to the waist when I'next to it.
However, it looks better sitting on the table with no base.
Another reason I like my half thick acrylic bases, I think. Gonna have to source some cars.

While I can mentally subtract the bases from the figures, I find that the car with a base looks like it should be in a showroom. I say, no base.

With infinity figs being as skinny as they are, they look just fine next to your 1/55 scale car. Top of car at chest level seems about right.
Most 28mm figs are chunkier look pretty huge next to a 1/56 scale car which is why (in addition to their low price) I usually go with 1/43 die cast cars which are too big, but look good on the table with my heroic 28mm figs.
If 1/55 seems to small for you, 1/48 would be a good compromise scale that would give you a bit more height, but not look oversized.

1:48 has long been a viable option for 28mm minis. While it is technically too big (28mm to-the-eye 1/56) the added girth and thickness of most 28mm wargaming minis means that hatches and other scale-indicative bits such as the size of the cockpits on1/48 look very good next to 28mm minis.
The height added to a mini by it's base further enhances the perceived compatibility of 1/48 and 28mm.
1/43 is a common size for die cast cars, but 1/48 is a more common scale for die cast trucks. I use both.

Clear acrylic bases for the cars? Grimdork, you magnificent bastard! An excellent idea. I could easily cut custom ones from regular plexiglas.
Guys, I admit, I like it without the base too. I can ignore the bases on the minis, and the ones I made are purposefully done to 'appear' smaller. But I will try acrylic ones.
Eilif, 1/43 scale cars are easy to find hereabouts, and cheap enough. Other scales are scarce and apparently more expensive. 1/64 seems to be a thing too I might get some of the 1/43 cars-- the local Toys R Us sells them-- just to see how they might do as a stop gap. The thing is, I would like futuristic cars at some point, so I may have to figure out how to build a few of my own based on images of concept cars, and also concept buses. Buses might make great terrain pieces in Infinity, I suspect, given their size.
Ruglud, it is a single sheet of paper, 110# paper, or 220(?) gsm for you guys on the far side of the pond. You can get the file, and many more, here http://www.nissan.co.jp/EVENT/PAPERCRAFT/ it might help if you can speak/read Japanese. I cannot. Illiteracy sucks :( So I downloaded based on the images. It worked. I think I am no longer capable of wrecked versions or ruined anything. The well has run dry. I cannot even come up with a decent idea for this round of the LoER contest.
Something else: The worm's eye view of the vehicle is something that most folks will not see too often, whereas the bird's eye view, in which the height from the bases is less apparent, is the one most people will see. I'm going to play around with some ideas soon enough. When Hobby Time becomes more plentiful. And I clear some more space on the Table of Shame. I need to have a paint the rest of the f***ing terrain already week.

Set up a table with all the projects that I have started in the past 2 years, but have not finished. It's the Table of Shame:
But there is also the Table of Fame, things I did complete within the past 2 years
In all fairness, a decent portion from the Table of Shame just needs to be painted, and windows/doors or water efffects added. The bulk of the work is done. The Table of Fame does look a bit empty.
I reckon I'll finish that front end loader-- the papercraft-- this week-end, and then get to work on some painting. Those sheets of paper are the nice sailing ship papercraft that I want to do, but I'll save that for last. I'm thinking no new projects until the Table of Shame is cleared.
Maybe real WIPs next time. Got a lot of reading to do too.
