Subject: Conquest! The Last Argument of Kings! (Latest: Micro arts studio official terrain and bases)
Conquest has a good chance to capture the somewhat lacking 'ranked battle' market though too - if they can do it better/more interestingly than their distinguished competition, of course!

If they can make if feel like rank and file without having to actually paint up all the required number of rank and file units you'd actually need in a proper big game, then I'm in.
On the other hand I'll probably be in anyways and snatching up units for smaller skirmish sized stuff as it is.
Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!
I think what most people will find is that this game will very much *feel* like a true mass rank-n-file game without having to have 100+ models on either side.
The 'stands' help with this, but in reality the game design is really geared towards it. Thanks to the way deployment is handled, there is more reason for a player to have multiple types of units rather than just 2 or 3 of the same thing. For instance, if you had 3 'light' warbands (think men-at-arms), you couldn't deploy past your own reinforcement zone (table edge), but if you had a heavy Warband (think Knights) further up the board, you could bring in light, medium or heavy reinforcement warbands on from any table edge as far up as your enabling heavy Warband.
That's just one example, mind you. There are others in the Rulebook, but I really feel like they put a lot of thought into this particular issue.
Basically I think that as long as we can get people who are into rank and file gaming to try this, they'll be hooked. My goal is to have a set painted up prior to release so I can try and get people excited about the games before it comes out!
One of them filthy casuals...

Oooh those Dweghom look nice with that paint scheme. I might get them if I don't like any of the future releases. I'm still holding out of the hinted at Dominion remnants and that Oriental inspired army.

Funnily enough it's that paint scheme that's spoiling them for me personally. Not the quality of the paint job, just the scheme and I'm not a huge fan of the more mechanical elements to the models we've seen. Strays too much into Warcraft style fantasy rather than the Heavy Metal Fantasy most of Conquest seems to offer.
Everything else though... God it's impressive. That Nord....

I really hope this game kicks off and it doesn't fall like Drop Zone Commander. The models and enthusiasm is too great for it to fail, and it would be a pity if it did.
