The last week was not very productive with a mixture of great weather, back pain and trying to win the Champion's League on FIFA20 Hope to get some hobby time in this evening.

gobert wrote:Cool paint job on Espern! He looks resplendent in your imperial colours!

Thanks gobert! I'm really happy not to have encountered a miniature that doesn't work with those colors.

amazingturtles wrote:Very snazzy, especially his word cloak (that's my new name for the middle bit)

It's a rule of miniature photography that no matter how much work you do, the photo will always reveal something wrong somewhere. I think that the camera itself creates them

Thanks amazingturtles! In the future I will only look onto the picture on my phone and post it blind into this thread so not to see what the camera unearthed

Thanks youwashock! For the scroll the reimagined Sisters really helped, they have lots of nice scribbly text decals on their transfer sheet.

Thanks Theo! Well, the inquisitor also has no qualms to work closely with abhumans, so I will keep a good eye on her

Thanks aku-chan! He was fun to paint, wouldn't say no to some more of them as inquisitorial henchmen.

As stated above, did very little the last week, wanted to finish the three inceptors, but only did one. Really not in love with the models and the paintjob shows it in parts. If I don't like your sculpt, I will not do proper cleanup on every part Gonna try and finish the other two and my Rogue Trader over the weekend and Monday/Tuesday two Aberrants that wait for paint since last year, because that would bring me to a nice round 90 models painted so far this year (terrain excluded).

Woah, nice job on the Inceptor! I saw the photo before I read the post and my first thought was "oh dang, with the right paint job that model doesn't actually look that bad." Then I read your post and, well hey, guess it's not the most popular sculpt on the market! I agree with Graven, that's a classic Sci-Fi blue right there. I'm pretty taken with it!

Thanks amazingturtles! My biggest gripe with them was putting them on the flying stand (as evidenced by the one model that stands on a case, I did not want him too ).

youwashock wrote:Inceptors are a little hit, a little miss. More miss, really. But I love that armor color .

Thanks youwashock! Yeah, that color is really great, could probably thin it down a little to make it cleaner, but not for these guys.

Thanks Don Qui Hotep! Sculpt has potential, but doesn't use it well in my opinion. It's a bit like Die another day, good and bad stuff intertwine. Dual wielding guns - Great! Jetpack - Eh! Head pose when you don't put the visor down - Wait, where is he looking?

gobert wrote:The inceptors really are odd looking models I think, but you’ve made the best of the situation with the cool metallic blue. Hopefully you win the champions league and can get back to the important minis!

Thanks gobert! I'm in the final against Liverpool and will play it in the next days

Finished the squad and was even to lazy to do the hazard cable like I did with the first one, his brothers just got green and turquoise cabling. But they are done and I have to admit that armor color and transfers (love that Alpha logo) make them look slightly better than they should
And the more fun model to paint, my Rogue Trader should get finished on today's lunch break, did some work last evening. The problem is, that you can't do sub-assemblies because of E2B model, so I had to work from the in- to the outside. "Only" cables skulls and pistols left, then drybrushing, snowing up the base and painting the base rim. So I will get my trio of RT, navigator and squat ready in time for the painting comp.

Thanks Fifty! The skin is a base of Bugman's Glow, then nearly 1:1 Wyldwood and Contrast Medium (erring to more Wyldwood in this case) and then some edge highlights of Doombull Brown. Saw the recipe in Mengel Miniatures Twitter Feed.

Thanks aku-chan! Although it really is just base color, wash and kind of drybrush with brighter color, because I'm very lazy

Got the RT done for the comp and have also made photos for my half year review that I will post probably tomorrow, after checking, what exactly my goals were

She was a lot of fun to paint and I will definitely use her as a Kill Team Commander when I have my next game.

To me it’s a ridiculous model, but a fantastic paint job. Sword leg . GW jumping the Sharknado just a bit. I totally get the idea that she is so bad that a lost leg didn’t slow her down, in fact it sped up her killyness, just past my crayon line in the sand of reality for some reason.

She looks really cool, yet another model that looks good in your imperial colour scheme. Didn’t Mao try that, where everyone had to wear the same clothes? Was the Emperor Mao in a former life!?! I’ll have to check out the competition posts for the pics of the trio!

Really like the plasma Inceptor squads, did you have any issues with the flight stands?

You should be very pleased with the results on The RT lady, her jacket looks great with that pattina esque effect, you say it was a lazy job but if you can get it looking like that I would say the lazy way is the way to go.

Thanks Theo! Although after having seen the first Kingsman movie, I didn't find the killer leg outlandish

Thanks gobert! That's a tidbit I haven't heard about Mao (although truth be told, I don't know that much about him at all ) One of these days I'm gonna learn how I can put in another thread uploaded gallery pics in this one, withput having to resort to spoilers, because the picture isn't shown as a thumbnail.

Thanks ListenToMeWarriors! I'm not sure if the flight stands had issues with me, but I did not like working with them. Some time ago I had no qualms with my Kharadron Overlords and hope that the Seraphim will also go on better. I believe the minis are a little to heavy for the contact point, but I didn't want to magnetize.
And good to know, that my effect really doesn't seem to look lazy

Thanks Captain Brown!

And now to my half year review, seeing how I set myself some goals at the beginning of the year. Let's check them and use Nevelon's traffic light system to see, what I have achieved.

Warhammer 40k/Kill Team

Goals:
Paint the last primed Space Marines (16 infantry models, 2 tanks and 1 dreadnought) Well, I painted the three Inceptors, 5 assault marines and 5 Intercessors. Still some stuff left, but getting there.
Build and paint the 5 intercessors, 5 incursors, 5 infiltrators, 5 hellblasters and 3 aggressors still on sprue Everything is still on sprue
Start a sisters army, army box is already in progress and I will first add (probably) 2 seraphim and 2 zephyrim squads to that to build an angelic host led by celestine and her gemini That is in progress, I now have 10 of the box models painted and another 10 woman squad from a normal box is done.
Paint the Rogue Trader Kill Team and terrain from the box Nope
Finish the last 4 Blackstone Fortress Heroes I painted the Navigator, but the other three are still awaiting paint.
Build and paint the Combat Arena heroes Did the Rogue Trader of this set this year, Crusader and Psyker were done in 2019. So only Techman and Servitor left, but still on sprue.
Paint Ghor Half-Horn He got painted alright!
Build and paint Greyfax Still on sprue

Stretch Goals:
Build and paint an Adeptus Mechanicus Kill Team roster consisting of 10 Skitarii and 10 Sicarians 6 Sicarians are primed (well since 2018), but I haven't done anything to get them closer.
Paint my Kastelan Robots and their master Nope
Strip my Adeptus Custodes and repaint them (or sell them) Counting them as green, after not liking my new test scheme I sold them
Paint the rest of my deathwatch (app. 20 models) Now it's only 5 models and a flyer, sold three squads, have enough deathwatch for a small inquisition force.

Age of Sigmar/WarCry

Goals:
Build and paint at least 1.500 points of ogor mawtribes I painted 2 Gluttons and a Leadbelcher (ok, orange is probably too generous). But the army is shelved for now, gonna tackle them in 2021, have no motivation to do so now.
Build and paint an Ossiarch Bonereapers WarCry Warband Nearly there, 3 Mortek Guard left plus some big boys and skellies on horses.
Build and paint the WarCry terrain That I did!
Paint the already primed or WIP Kharadron Overlords models (3x Skyriggers, Lord Big Hat and the ironclad) Counting that as orange, because I painted the not mentioned 5 Thunderers and a Arkanaut test model. Need to pick up the pace here.

Stretch Goals:
Paint some of the already primed stormcast Nope, but they moved out of a drawer and into the light.

Other stuff

Goals:
Paint Hellboy, Abe Sapien and Liz from the Hellboy Board Game
Convert 10 cars for Gaslands and build a little terrain or whatever will be needed for the track

Stretch Goals:
Paint the other heroes from the Hellboy Board Game
Did nothing of that and may lay that of for the time being.

I'm not that surprised, because me and plans don't often get along well and I got easily distracted with other stuff I had lying around or bought. All in all I'm actually very happy, because despite the time that WarCry terrain took, I managed to paint 89 minis in 6 month and if I keep that pace, I will surpass last years 150 (infantry) minis painted.
What made me especially happy when getting out all the minis, was the more diverse paint schemes. I still have my love for green, blue and purple showing, but the WarCry bands made it easy to test some other colors and not comitting to them for a whole army.

The goal for the second half is just to get stuff from the foothill of embarrassment (it's not really enoug for a pile of shame) done til the end of the year so that in 2021 I may buy a box, build it, paint it and not just put it into a shelf We'll see how that will work out.

And now some pics of everything painted.

Thanks gobert! That would be funny, 89 go in, only one comes out! And if that were the case, I would hedge my bets on the Rogue Trader. She'll probably form loose alliances, play everyone against each other and stab the last guy with her leg

Updated the "what I want to paint before I start building new stuff" to something more manageable and made a start on the next 12 minis from that pile. gobert's work on his Space Marine Heroes made me finally tackle the four waiting primed ones and also repaint their ML buddy so that he gets the same nice blue color as his peers.
Aggressors got the Terradon Turquoise treatment and will be more in line with the old Coelia Greenshade models.
And last but not least the 5 Seraphim from the sisters battle box. Got the cloth blocked in and shaded.
