Ooh if they did a MtO for the old campaign books, then I'd be all over that like a bad rash.

Man I really hope to se new Dale profiles - and not only heroes - for this nice faction, something like what they did for Dunlendings would be awesome.

I could see them getting some elite archer models.

Maybe cavalry? Even if it's just 'Warriors of Dale on horses'.

Almost immediately after I posted that, I got another "back in stock" email, I have now secured him and Bandobras Took, which were all the models left I needed to work through the old Scouring of the Shire book (one of these days)

Did you click through to the individual product? For some reason the main page has a delay in removing the out of stock banner, but if you go into the product it's there (might be out of stock by now of course).

Might be worth shooting a message to customer service though, with old Blood Bowl stuff having a run this weekend. Wouldn't be the first time they've overlapped MTOs, but better to check in sooner rather than later.
That's not a bad idea actually. Even if they're not dispatching them yet, it'd be nice to know they're still on top of it.

Right, so I got a reply back from GW the other day about the January MTOs.
GW customer service wrote:Hi,

These were due to ship out this month but have yet to arrive so we are currently chasing the UK on when we might expect them.

Apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience.

So it seems for Australians at least, if you haven't got it yet, you just have to hold on a bit longer. I'd imagine this would largely be the same for other countries too.

It's unfortunate, but also understandable given the current circumstances.

It's been a while since I played M-E SBG, but what business does Bard II have having a D of 7? Is he wearing heavy armour? It doesn't look like it. Unless they want to hand wave it away as being a gift from the dwarves...

On the positive side, these all look like nice models. My only complaint would be Brand's feet being slightly too far apart. Here's hoping we get some more Easterling releases!

I do agree D7 sound a bit strange with that light armour. But hey models are really nice and I play Dale (plus Erebor) since they came out in Hobbit era so I feel very excited!

The elite Knights of Dale whose equipment he shares are specifically said to wear heavy armour, so the D7 is indeed just a result of heavy armour plus shield. I don't hate the idea of justifying it by saying there's some Dwarven craftmanship involved, as it does indeed seem a bit ligth otherwise (though the game has and had ample inconsistencies in that area over the years anyway).

Brand does indeed look a bit unnaturally posed, but Bard II and the Knights are pretty nice sculpts and designs; good additions to the range.

I do kind of wish they moved away from the near-constant "this guy is a major leader, so needs to have 3 attacks and 3 wounds" as it doesn't feel the most natural or justified in some cases, but I guess that's just the convention of the game by now. (With a few exceptions. Poor Círdan.)

The aesthetic for some of the hobbit armies is something i've struggled to get behind. I assume it's because I couldn't even manage to sit through the 1st movie in full, so my view of the accompanying models are tainted by it.

Everything is just too ornate I think, and in the case of the Dale warriors, a case of too many clashing elements.
Fine models, just not for me, I guess.

I know what you mean, but I actually quite like the models, I just have to avoid remembering the films

The Iron Hills dwarves in particular are really nice IMO.

The Dwarves are the line I have the most issue with. They're too lithe for dwarves I feel and I just don't like Hobbit aesthetic compared to the LotR versions.

I didn't like the armoured Mirkwood elves at first, but i've come around to their armour style. It's a nice variation to the Lorian/Rivendell look. Although the Mirkwood rangers are nothing short of a travesty.

I'll not have you besmirch the Mirkwood Rangers! The plastic kit is gorgeous.

The two resin captains though were trash. Same with the Tauriel and Legolas models in plastic & resin both.

The Hobbit stuff is definitely too ornate (except the Iron Hills).

I think Bard II is perfect though, but he does look very out of place next to his men and father, especially at D7.

Brand I think will look better with a 360 view, the picture looks too 'front heavy' with both the symbol on the shield and his chestplate, but the rest of him doesn't look too overdesigned.

The Knights are... alright. The existing Warrior design was always very meh and felt far too ornate compared to the other kingdoms, even if Dale was meant to be rich. A lot of The Hobbit costumes felt overly busy for the sake of it. I do prefer their helmets to the pointy NotRus hats though and will probably look better without the crest.

Oh no, besmirch I will!

The actual quality of the kit, I assume is on par with the modern(ish) plastics. But the poses themselves.... Yikes.

What's the heck is this?

I'll admit the two kneeling rangers are quite nice. But the rest are all so weirdly static, despite being all in some form of motion.

I figured out part of what was throwing me off about the Dale Knights. Their poses very closely mirror the Rohan royal guard minis.

Nice, I was hoping there'd be a Nazgul kit to match the other plastic foot and mounted characters, and it looks great.

Really like the Witch King, and while terrain doesn’t usually do much for me, I actually really like both terrain kits. Dread to think the Amon Hen price though!

£150 for something of that size and quality would be extremely good. Especially considering Amon-Sul is a £100 more and much more enclosed.

I may have started drooling a little at that Amon Hen. And i'm very glad to see that the Dol Guldur ruins are modular.

Does the Witch-king look somewhat taller then previous incarnations?

Really didnt expect the announcement of a fall of the necromancer source book in addition to the war in the north. I thought they just expand war in the north to the dol goldur conflicts and lorien. Also, they must be pretty delayed that they are annoincing both these sourcebooks.

Announcing Defence of the North now, even if it's just a title, makes sense when you consider they already spoilt that a War in the North book was coming with Dain/Brand. Announcing Fall of the Necromancer by itself would confuse a lot of people. "Is this the book the new Dale/Easterling stuff is coming in?" I guess with hindsight, they teased this with the Wood Elf MTO announcement suggesting they were relevant to an upcoming supplement, it just wasn't clear if that meant they were covering the western portion of the War in the North.

Sometimes the models can be ready a long time in advance it seems. I think the 2013 Dwarf kits for Fantasy were stamped with 2009 and there'd been rumours/pictures floating around for years before release. Dragon Acolytes/Dain/Brand/Dale Knights releasing throughout 2021 makes me wonder if there's going to be a decent chunk of releases coming with DotNorth though.

I'm a bit surprised they haven't redone the Necromancer model. Being the duel combination of both metal/resin and a not fabulous sculpt seems like it'd be a prime candidate for a new swanky plastic kit. Not to mention it's yaknow.... The Big Bad (albeit in disguise.)

The film just depicts him as he appears in the 'Last Alliance' scene of Fellowship I think, so they might not have been allowed to make a new model that wasn't just... that.
