Subject: Necron Etched Brass? Anyone have any?

Does anyone know where I might pick up "alien symbols" in etched brass that would look good as Necron iconography?
Is there anyone who makes custom etched brass?
Thanks.

Sadly, I've never heard of such a thing.
The only metal etching process you can do at home I'm familiar with are for circuitboards, and the results are too imprecise for our hobby. You can read about the process here but in my personal experience, the results are pretty iffy.

Eric, I don't know of any, but if you find a reasonable source let me know please. I've got a ton of painting I'm doing for Alex in the next few months and some new fancy bits for my favorite metalheads might be a good distraction in between projects.

The outlook's not good but, if I find any, I'll let you know. I really could use it. My regular gaming group is planning a campaign. We had a couple books professionally printed & bound, we're building a GIANT modular Space Port similar to what's on page 345 of the 40K BRB (without any destroyed sections), a 4x6 ruined mechanicus table and we have a 4x6 table of the Forgeworld Cityfight RoB panels that we're painting up and building tables for. Eventually, I'd like to do some Necron terrain, as a couple planets in the campaign area are Necron Tomb Worlds. With as nicely as everything else is turning out, so far, I thought some nice etched brass plates with symbols would look good on the Necron terrain we'll be building.
So, what are you painting for Alex? Dust tactics? D&D?

Funnily enough, most of it's 40k/WHFB models, but it's being used for D&D (demons, chaos, and nids that he's using for "franken-freak" monsters). He also went in on the Reaper Bones kickstarter and that stuff should be arriving soon. I've got a ton of stuff assembled for him, just trying to find some decent weather to prime in.
The tables and campaigns sound awesome. You'll have to get me out that way to check it out sometime. I've been pretty 40k starved since Alex dropped it, and one of Loren's nephews went full on Godzilla with his Tau. Something I was thinking about that you might consider is using the Hirst Art molds for their pyramids. Combined with some monolith bits, you should be able to make some pretty sweet Necron terrain.
As far as the etchings, it might almost be worth looking into local machine shops to see if someone could do some laser cut pieces from a CAD design. If you can get the initial designs done cheap, material costs should be cheap and the actual time on the machine should be almost nothing.

That sucks about Loren's Tau. Ugh.
We probably won't be doing any actual playing until all this stuff's built, so I expect it to be a mid to early spring campaign. LOL I'll let you know when we start, maybe you can come out and get a game in. We gave from 1pm-ish until after midnight almost every Saturday.
Also, a correction on the Mechanicus - it's a group of buildings & roads that'll be about 3.5 x 5. Not a FULL table, but close.
I'm looking forward to Alex getting his Bones models. The Chronoscope and Futuristic ones are mine. : )
You won't get me to use Hirst Arts molds, though. Hells no.
I used to have some, and I know what a PITA they are to cast and to assemble. LOL
The machine shop is something to think about, though.
