Slaanesh Chosen Marine Riding a Fiend

Babenhausen, Germany

I have finally decided to document the work on my army.

But first-off a warning. As you probably guessed from the title there will be not only female marines but female slaanesh marines in here. So expect a lot of sculpted boobs and other weird slaaneshi stuff. I have no problem to discuss the aesthetics of the models i create but it would be kind if you try to avoid the nerd-rage a topic like that tends to create. Thank you in advance.

So with this out of the way what can you expect to see here?

I love converting and sculpting and I think I’ve gotten quite good at it. And you'll see a lot of my stuff here.
My ultimate goal is a fully converted and painted army. But i don't like painting as much as converting. So don't expect to see that many painted stuff at first.
I hope that in creating this blog i get enough motivation to finish more conversion projects than i start. So after a while i hopefully run out of excuses not to paint. Let's hope it works.

This is the current sorry state of my army(not included are the models hiding all over my workdesk):

I don't want to flood this topic with pictures of my older stuff and there are already some pics in my dakka gallery. What pics are missing there are some of my noise marines a bunch of basic marines, terminators and most of my larger models.(and probably other random stuff) If you want to see more of them you could ask and I’ll add pics. But I’ll start off with the stuff I’m currently working on and the rest hopefully will come on its own.

But before i finally add some pictures just a quick intro of my army. The Followers of the Eternal Siren are a heavy slaanesh inspired noise marine style army. Lots of noise weapons and decorated armor. The army is lead by (and named after) a powerfull Keeper of Secret – The Eternal Siren. The army isn't entirely female but as their leader prefers the female form she surrounds herself with mostly female marines. Her first chosen where female to begin with or have been reshaped after her image through the possessed armor. Armor thar where bathed in The Eternal Siren's essence over thousand of years. Due to an alternative way of creating warp-infused astartes 'facsimiles' The Followers can recruit from both genders. (But with a mortality rate that is incredible high and those that survive often degenerate into ravaging possessed.)
For a more in depth background click on the spoiler tag. But I'll also add to the background later on as i work on my army.
Spoiler:
The background story of the Followers of the Eternal Siren is the tragic story of the 3. Ragheln mixed guard regiment and of the return to power of one of Slaaneshs once most favored Keeper of Secrets.
The Bloody Rose, the Eternal Siren, the Voice of Weeping Death one of Slaaneshs Keeper of Secrets has been imprisoned for thousands of years on the world of Sicar IV. But after her long imprisonment the sacred chambers that bound her powers started to give. Her fleeting presence was still weak but over the year it sparked the flame of rebellion against the Imperium of Man. The ensuing yearlong civil war was the reason dispatching a mixture of different guard regiments to the war-torn world. The 3. Ragheln – a mostly unknown backwater-world regiment of mixed gender – was one of them. While the war above the prison of The Eternal Siren turned into a stagnating trench warfare the death cries of the dying soldiers weakened her bonds even further.
After years of eventless conflict many events occurred at nearly the same time and exploded into a chaotic chain of events that ultimately molded the first of the Follower of The Ethernal Siren.
One event was the dispatching of a small force of Grey Knights. They had learned of the Eternal Siren and her weakening imprisonment. They advanced towards Sicar IV to encounter the jailed demon in her current weakened state and rebound her into the holy prisons of the grey knights. They didn't expect a strong foe so they dispatched only a small force. But the deadly trained warrior where still a strong force to reckon with.
At the time of the grey knights arrival on the war-torn world the next event started. The rebellious forces made an advance on all frontiers -their last effort to either win the war or die trying. This move came totally unexpected and many frontiers where overrun. The order was given to retreat to the second line of defence and hold the assault there. The 3. Ragheln where trapped directly in the middle of the advance. The allied regiments around them retreated to hasty and the rebels where able to surround them. The rag tag backwater regiment had been a thorn the side of the royal regiments fighting next. So they decided to abandon their allies and shell the former defence line with massive artillery fire.
Surrounded by enemy and shelled by their own blue-blooded allies the next event occurred. Misfiring artillery blasted open the hidden entrance to the prison of The Elternal Siren. With nowhere else to go the 3. Ragheln entered the dark halls of the prison to get at least protection from the exploding shells. With hate for their allies anger and fear in their heart is was no wonder that even the weakened Keeper of Secret could lour the guardsmen and -women towards her prison. She strengthened those easy to influence. Imbued with the warp-spawned power the Ragheln fought off the rebels. But in the same moment the last rebellious soldier hit the floor the Grey Knights teleported in.
They Grey Knights quickly realised what had transpired. They could feel the warp influence on the guards. But the stronger minded soldiers also started to see the changes in their comrades and pulled their guns at them. While the Regiment started to fight against their tainted comrades the Grey knights made their devastating move. All of the men and women had been bathed in the power of the Keeper of Secrets. The Grey Knights couldn't risk anyone influenced by the power of the warp escaping. So they opened fire on all of them.
Those guardsmen who hadn't jet realised what was going on where shocked to see their glorified allies - the gods of the battlefield the astartes where for them - to turn their fury on them. Some opened fire on the holy warriors.
In the midst of all the chaotic carnage The Eternal Siren called the 50 strongest under her influence towards a hidden armory. There they found wargear of the former guardians of this prison. What had happened with those long since forgotten warriors was unknown. But they had left their power armor and weapons behind. Bathed over thousands of years in the presence of The Eternal Siren those armors and weapons where filled with corruption and power. The 50 soldiers donning the possessed wargear where infused with mind and body warping forces. Bodys grew and muscles bulged and their frame changed into the image of the Elternal Siren. They now filled out the armor like the astartes who had worn these armor once.
The appearance of 50 fully armored and armed warriors took everyone by surprise. But the Grey Knights didn't falter and fired at the powerful jet untrained possessed soldiers. But amidst all the death and carnage the holy warrior realised to late that every dying soul, every last breath strengthened the trapped Keeper of Secrets. With a burst of shards the spinning orb holding her imprisoned burst open. The newly empowered demoness slammed into the Grey Knights. Channeling part of her powers into the possessed 3. Ragheln guardsmen and women the holy warrior where assaulted from multiple sides. Lasgunfire from the confused guards. boltershorts from her chosen and the sense-shattering voice of The Eternal Siren overwhelmed the holy warriors.
After the bloody battle those who pledged alliance with the freed demon where spared. The strongest under them where given the armor of the killed possessed refilling the 50 warriors.
Those who didn't side with the angered demoness where gunned down and their blood splattered all over the armor of the fallen Grey Knight. The desecrated warriors where left behind.
The imperial guards outside had been informed of allied astartes on the battlefield. So they where taken by surprise as the power armored warriors walking towards them suddenly opened fire. With the Elternal Sirin in their midst the survivors advanced through the gaps the hasty repositioning of the regiments had created. They captured a landing vessel and in a short and bloody massacre a ship capable of warpflight.
In their search for a new place of power the Follower of The Eternal Siren found the location of a circle of Tzeenchian Sorcerers. They had been working on a way of corrupting and multiplying the genseed of loyal chapters to recreate a method of replenishing the forces of the chaos marines. The only thing they needed was immense additional power the demoness was ready to give. But she had a hidden plan. She knew that the Grey Knights where still on her heels. She had even left behind a followable trace on purpose. As the Grey Knight ship appeared in the system she used the confusion of the preparation for battle to load a large chunk of the heavy wargear and chaos vehicles into the stealthiest spacecraft docked on the base. The strategically placed Followers of The Eternal Siren dispatched everyone on the ship who would oppose her leadership quickly. While the holy warriors stormed onto the moonbase full force a single craft slipped away under the radar – belly full of tanks, transports, heavy cannons and weaponry and a few sorcerer and chaos marines that pledged alliance to The Eternal Siren. But the most important stolen equipment was the machines and knowledge the demoness had helped to create. She now possessed the maschines to create chaos astartes out of captured geneseed. This would allow the Followers to create new warriors without knowledge of the special ceremonies some of the different chapters genseed required to activate. And the best was that they had erased all evidence of what had transpired in there research before departure. The Grey Knights would gun down every other Tzeentch follower who had knowledge of the infernal machinery. The only trace they had left behind was the feeling of defeat in the eyes of the Grey Knights who had lost all traces to follow the empowered Keeper of Secrets. With the moonbase blown into oblivion the only left behind traces were the bloodstained armor of the Grey Knights killed on Sicar IV and the reports that had let them there to begin with.
With the power of the Elternal Siren and the ability to replenish their troops it was an easy task to silently take over a world on the outer rim of imperial space. There The Elternal Siren now residues in her walking temple her trusted Followers at her side.

And to finally get the ball rolling this is what I’m currently working on:

You might have seen those possessed in my topic in the modelling area. But I'll continue updating them here. If you want more pics of the building process go to my gallery of better to this topic
What shoulder guard do you prefer?

This one lately got a set of fingers and claws. The other hand still needs claws. I will also cut the claws a little bit so that they look somewhat like bones. What's your opinion - especially on the fingers?

I still don't know what to do with his chest and arms (or keep the current one) and heads. One suggestion was to pair the massive arm with an atrophied one. What's your opinion?

This one is now complete but added to finish the whole set.

This is my newest addition into the possessed family. The goal is to create a reptile-like appearance. This is my first try for a scenic pose. He is supposed to have the left arm bent backwards - with the ripped shoulder guard of his prey in his hand.

------------------------------------

This one is supposed to be the champion of my havoc squad. But i am still undecided what weapon-design to put on them. So the champion only leads a bunch of legs into battle.

-----------------------------------

Those ladies are on my todo pile for some time but i plan on working on them again soon.

----------------------------------

And another project of mine i quite like. They started as dark vengance termies and now on a deep dive directly into the debauched embrace of slaanesh. They are intended as cult terminator of slaanesh. So ill replace the combibolter with noise weaponry. It's not wysiwyg but cooler that way.

Comments and critique are welcome. And if you have interesting ideas for other stuff i could add to my army just throw it at me. (painting doesn't count here )

I like the work you've done & the fluff, very nice. I seen this in the modelling section so its nice to see its made its way here

As far as the shoulder pads go, if you're still taking opinions my vote is 5 It looks more Slaanesh, fits with the work you've done with the Terminators, plus if the Possessed are the product of centuries of expose to your warband's leader then that gives plenty of time for the armour to be affected by the malign influence.

Thanks for the responces. And i think i'll go with option 5. I just need to make a fitting pair for the other side before i add them. And i'll also try to add the headless marine to the models tail so that it coils around him. But for that i have to create a compressed and splintered power armor otherwise it won't fit. if that is done I'll can finally add the arms. So until then you still can post opinions on his shoulders.

And as far as shoulders go I've made a pic of some of my converted ones just to show off. There is also a wip havoc launcher in it that will be magnetized to my scratch build rhino. I am also in the process of building an .... errr special weapon mount for it. Might put pictures of it here if i'm done with it.

Speaking of rhinos. I have ordered some rhino bitz and robogear kits to build spider leged rhinos. This is just a mockup and the legs need to be fitted into the sidearmor more. But whats your opinion of the idea?

And i also finished the body of my chosen champion. I might add a cloak later on but for now he is finished. Both his arms are magnetized so if i can change his wargear if i want to. But this might collide with a cloak so until i feel comfortable with creating cloaks i'll think about it.

And finally a quick update on my noise terminators. I've sculpted more screaming faces onto them and added cables to the one I did yesterday.

Nice work on the Champion. For the Rhino I think both the legs and the tracks (even the wheels) look a wee bit redundant. If you replaced the wheels the tracks go on with the legs that might look more suitable - either as a Dark Mechanicus crafted Rhino, or one that has mutated over the millenia.

Yeah. My goal was to mutate the rhino. And the track wheels will be cut away. I don't even have the tracks as i ordered just the sides and floor from a bits shop. The rest will be scratchbuild with a more mutated look of semi-organic metal and such.

And i have another update for you.

This possessed is nearly finished now. The head and arms are glued. The only thing missing are his shoulder guard. The left shoulder is already sculpted. (you can see it on his earlier other pictures). But i need a matching one for the right and attach both.

As an experiment is build those small speaker boxes. I like how they turned out and i'll probably build som more and attach them to my noise marines and noise terminators. And working on them reminded me that i still need 5 noise weapons. So I decided to build some more mutated ones.

I also experimented with sculpting more realistic propotioned figures out of fimo. They are still in a very early stage but some might turn into more cultists or slaveboys and -girls for objective markers. We'll see what i come up with.

What incredible work! You must have an amazing amount of patience. I recently completed a marine chapter built largely from bitz and rescued models (pics on my blog if anyone's interested: wargames-wasteland.blogspot.co.uk). It took me forever as there was a lot of conversion and magnetising required to pull off all the repairs required, but was a paltry exercise compared to what you've achieved here. Well done!

Thanks.
The problem I have with the rhino is to find a good design. It should look organic and mechanic at the same time without drifting to much into just beeing random - like nurgle fleshy bits or the typical tentacles. But i've looked at art from giger and maybe I'll find some inspiration there.

To be honest. I don't want to think about how much hours I spent on just a handfull if plastic soldiers ... It's crazy. Even more so if you knew that i started sculpting just because i was to cheap to actually buy bitz and kitbash them.

Thanks. And don't stop with GS. You need time to get good at it. Three tipps that helped me get to that stage.

1. Wet your tools. (I lick mine. But water from a wet piece of cloth or vaseline also works. Just don't overdo it.)
2. Work in layers. Don't try to do too much in one go.
3. Be cheap. Don't buy you HQ models but build them out of regular ones and try to sculpt as close as you can get to the HQ of your choise.

Yes. The vehicle is supposed to be a vindicator. But currently the model is on my todo pile. If i have GS that is already to firm to work fine details with I'll add another muscle or other organic part on his legs. (In essence he's my GS junk bin.
Here is another angle of him also with a mockup of his leg armor he might get if I start working on him again. My idea was to represent his origin as tank through adding tank tracks onto his legs. But I don't know how that would look ...

As far as updates go I have nothing that exiting to show. I worked a little on my noise weapons and added some minor details on the termies. You know that the terminator are nearly finished if you apply the 80/20 rule. The last 20% take 80% of the time ...

I also tried to sketch some concepts for my spider rhinos. But nothing workeable came out of it. Instead i created these two sketches. But for now i placed them on my todo pile. On is a Subjugator Slaanesh scout titan the other is a non dragonified heldrake. Those skecthes show the actual scale of those so you can estimate how large they would be. using the size of a A4 sheet of paper.

Like the look of the heldrake...

For the rhino have you thought about using the wheels as the initial 'hinge' joints for the legs, then the track idea you mentioned for the vindi might work....

I only bought some bits for the rhinos as i had planed to scratchbuild the rest. So no tracks from me ...

And mounting the legs on the wheels either increased the height or the footprint of the model. I'm not a gamer but I'd like to keep the size close to the original model. But I'll think about it.

I've been meaning to comment here for some time, and now I've finally gotten around to actually doing it: Good decision to start a modelling log for your CSM! After having seen your first CSM thread, this log was of course an instant subscription for me

The stuff so far looks amazing! I love the counts as Vindicator, since I am quite sick of the boxy Astartes tanks and think that this is a very interesting way of adding something suitably chaotic and daemonic to a CSM army to replace the tired old Rhino-rehashes. Indeed, why not construct your Rhinos in a similar way? I know I'd do it if I had the GS and plasticard skills!

Your sketches for larger warmachine also look quite promising! Regarding the Heldrake conversion, you might find this interesting, in case you haven't already seen it.

Anyway, looking forward to your next update! Krasses Zeug!

I felt a little ill so sadly no update from me ... The only thing that i got done before hiding in my bed are some minor details and the concept of the noise weapons of my termies.

And thanks for the link. I hadn't seen it.
But i think I'll scratchbuild mine as i don't like the boxyness of the space marine flyer. And i think i have the main body of my heldrake mostly fleshed out. The only thing that needs some work is the cockpit area. I don't want it boxy but large enough to theoretically fit a pilot in. But i might use a unarmored pilot or at least witout shoulder guards as a gauge for size.
This exact thing is another thing that bugs me on the GW heldrake. It once was a jet with a pilot and the pilot is somewhere fused in the body of the drake. But nothing even resembles a cockpit area. The head is the only thing remotely close but is way to small.
And if the jet was once a hell blade of hell talon (from forgeworld) why the dragon head? A dragon head isn't that demonic in my eye.
Well. Let's see what i come up with for a cockpit.

Well, don't get me started on the dragon look, because I think they really dropped the ball there: The concept and fluff are awesome, but the whole dragon/chicken aesthetic makes the whole thing remarkably narmy (which is why I tried to my my own Heldrake look far more like a missing link between an organic creature and the FW flyers).

Regarding the cockpit problem, I think there are two viable approaches: One would be to add the cockpit to the cavity where the neck normally starts. However, just adding a pre-made cockpit from one of the Marine flyers looks extraordinarily stupid, in my opinion, so I would go for something with a very different look -- what about a clear, bubble-like cockpit for example, maybe even with the pilot hardwired into the machine similar to a Dreadnought pilot?

The other option would be to add in a cockpit somewhere on the model's back (i.e. between the "shoulders") of the dragon: Leave off the armour plates on the back, cut in an opening (the torso is hollow anyway, so this shouldn't be too hard) and then use a couple of bitz (from the Dakkabomba, for example) to build the cockpit proper. In this scenario, the head and neck would probably best be replaced by adding a huge air-intake to the neck cavity.

At first i kinda liked the dragon appearance. But the more i looked at my already assembled heldrake the more flaws i saw in it.
As a student my hobby bugdet is rather limited. And i also don't want to risk the already assembled one. So I'll either scratchbuild my next drake or wait until i have a steady income to convert one from GW's kits that fit.
As for the one in the sketches a heldrake kit isn't the best start. I want a more jetlike appearance and all the overlapping armor plates on the drake doesn't fit with that. To still keep the rough body shape of the heldrake i wanted to add an air intake below the body with some jet turbines behind it pointing downwards to represent it's ability to hover. Another set of intakes should be besides the wings or on to of them next to the main body for the engine in the back of the jet. But i might scratch the below intake as it might be to bulky with a correctly scaled cockpit. Back to the drawing bord.

I also have a small update. I have worked a little bit on my reptile possessed and the weapons for my noise terminators.

I still don't know if i want to add a more male or female face on him/her. But whatever i do this one won't get boobs as reptiles are no mammals.

My goal on this weapon was to fuse the more stubby combibolters with the noise marine weapon design. The weapon still misses its screaming face, another cable running from the weapon to the shoulder guard and some additional smaller details. But other than that i like how it is shaping up. What's your opinion?

Thanks for the positive response.

The last days were a little slow on updates. I didn't felt so well and i also hadn't much to show. I worked on some smaller details that are hardly visible jet took more time than expected. I also worked on the noise terminator weapons but as they are all looking the same i didn't saw the need of picture.
And there is still not much to show.

But at least i finally finished this possessed with adding his second shoulder. This picture is now officially in my non-wip folder with voting enabled.

I also baked the fimo sculpting experiments. I'm not entirely happy with some of the results but they turned out to be workeable. I'll put cloths, faces and details on them and will probably use them as chained slaves for objective markers like i said. As the fimo putty is an oven baked one it has the advantage that i can add details and change stuff until i baked them. This is nice on organic sculpts like those bodies. But the problem is getting the stuff wraped around the armature. Sculpting heads was imposible as each time i pressed onto it the whole head shape moved around the wire. At least i learned something more about anatomical sculpting.

And i also want to put those pictures in this update. Those models are some month old and as that no sign that i started painting. But i want to hear your opinion on the paint schema. They are obviously not finished (missing highlight and shading, black hair and weapons and such ... ) The teal colored applications will get an osl glow effect in the final stage. (Hopeing i can pull that off.) But I feel that there is something missing or wrong in the color schema. Sadly i can't put my finger on what that something is. Maybe you can give me some ideas.

First of all, the twin LC model is simply fantastic! That head is just marvelous work! There are many people reasonably good at using GS. but most of them falter when it comes to actually sculpting great heads -- not you, though

I also love the scratchbuilt Dreadnought: He looks like a missing link between regular dreads and the FW Decimator: great job!

Regarding your colour scheme, such thinhs always come down to personal preference of course. Here's what I'd do differently, though:

1.) Both the purple and gold are a tad too light in my opinion, making the models look too toylike in appearance. I'd try significantly darker versions of either colour (or maybe even both). In any case, the armour trim needs to be quite a bit darker. Here's the only Slaaneshi model I ever painted to illustrate my point:

In hindsight, I coud have used a slightly lighter tone of purple, but the guy doesn't look like a toy at all.

2.) While light blue can make for stunning contrasts (and great OSL effects), I'd personally keep it to very few areas, such as Plasma coils, Lightning Claws etc.

3.) By the same token, I'd lose the red for cloth and replace it with a more neutral colour like grey or a greyish blue. With both the red and light blue in place, the minis end up looking far too busy, and you're obscuring the main contrast (purple/gold) on the model.

4.) Maybe you should try a lighter, more alabaster-like skin colour as well (compare my Champion above), but that is purely a matter of personal preference.

5.) You should definitely use washes on both the silver and golden parts to add some shadows and make the metal look more like metal. I'd go with Nuln Oil for the silver and Agrax Earthshade (or, if you can still get it, Gryphonne Sepia) for the gold.

Anyway, hope this helps! Looking forward to the next update!

Slaanesh Chosen Marine Riding a Fiend

Thanks. And i'm quite proud of the head myself. It is my latest and most detailed one. But i have a history of sculpting bad heads. But as i generally sculpt them onto the pin of a needle i can only use the good ones. The bad ones get their face scratched off and and a sculpted mask of som sort.
In the second picture the opera mask, chaos star mask and the "shogun" mouth mask are such reused flawed heads.

Paintingwise you are probably right. Those don't have the grimdark grittyness that fits so well for chaos models. And to clarify. The red cloths were originally intended to differenciat the counts as khorne berzerker models from the rest. But as those aren't troops choise anymore i will probably never field them in my slaanesh themed army especially with the ability to build a cheap basic marine melee blob. I might still use red cloths on some squads but I'll have to remember keeping the light blue osl ones away from them.
I won't change the skin color of the ones already painted but mostly because I'm proud of how the skin turned out. On my other models I'll try a more lighter skin tone. I had thought about it before but didn't trust my painting skill to get the feel for such a unnatural colorset. But at the end it'll look better and more chaosy and slaaneshi.
I know that those models are unwashed. I wanted to wash them but as i didn't liked the outcome of the whole schema i never got to that point.

I don't have something for an update as i have a very slow day and didn't want to ruin the stuff that is already on the way with uninspired details. But instead i will throw something from my gallery in here. Those are some of my earlier scratchbuilds, slaanesh themed counts as obliterator and mutilator. I never liked those bulky nurgly obliterator models and the multilator are just a cheap reproduction with different arms. (They could have at least give them some new torso variance. Why reuse those bulky things, GW?)
These models are together with my keeper of secrets the longest still unfinished projects. They have seen all my stages of sculpting experience with all the changes and returns of different sculpting putty and styles and are full of flaws and simple designs. (And still are unfinished ... ) I didn't like the bulky oblits but i wanted to keep the mass. So those are quite large compared to marines or even terminator. They are still 2 or 3 heads larger than my scaled up noise terminators.
What are your opinions on those?

Yeah, I like the way they have mass, yet aren't so bulky as to not really fit the slaaneshi mould.....and the cable limbs are very cool
