Howdy all- on the GW careers page right now, there is an advert up for a TV presenter, which is pretty cool!

And on the website:

Painting & Modelling Presenter, Nottingham, UK
MARCH 1, 2013
Are you an enthusiastic champion of the joys of painting & modelling Citadel Miniatures? Do friends often turn to you for explanations of the details of paint techniques or model assembly? Can you paint to a high standard while explaining clearly and simply what you are doing? If so, we may have a exciting new opportunity for you.

I was expecting this to just be an internal thing looking for someone to do another 'How to Paint Citadel Miniatures' dvd. But this is sounding... Way more. Unless they're starting a whole range of things?

I assume this will be their new "Monsters of Battle" podcast.

I believe that GW now have their own studio at their HQ.

So we should see more youtube/podcasts and the like, as well as even maybe some of the audio dramas/books recorded there.

Yeah I don't think this is "TV" per say, they are probably going to do a series of painting videos and sell them.

Haha. If its anything like White Dwarf is now they should advertise.

It's basically GW's version of beastsofwar. I almost expect the guy who runs their blog to do it.

If it had been 10 years ago, I would have been that guy; now I don't know that I believe in GW's vision enough to support it on camera.

Well that is an interesting thought of what "support" this might get.

My only issue is I just can't imagine it being good to watch.

It will be a constant commercial with product placement everywhere...

Perhaps they should get the shamwow guy to do it...

Now that's just a silly. Everybody knows that GW got their marketing strategy is "The first rule about selling products is you don't talk about the products" so they certainly wouldn't want someone assured to talk about their products.

It appears the guy in charge of notifying GW's leadership when they had confused sound advice from professionals with questionable advice from fiction was sadly cut early on in the corporate lay-offs. He is sorely missed.

I think we can safely say that because GW don't believe in advertising this will be a podcast people have to pay to watch etc!

The painting dvd's sounds likely as well, get people to buy those as well.

It may be for their digital White Dwarf. They already have video recaps of the battle report of the month by the players and onlookers. Perhaps this will accompany the painting articles?

Except it will never acknowledge the existence of other games and it will always tell you that every unit in every Codex is equally useful and that you should by them all.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

They should have done this a while ago.

It also makes sense to target professionals with TV experience to do this rather than vid bloggers for a professional feel.

GW can regain a lot of lost ground by getting media savvy, especially if their video production quality is high. As GW cannot usually be faulted for their artistic standards I believe they have a fair shot at getting this to work.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Have you seen their preview trailers?

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!
