Just finished painting the first model of my High Elves. Mostly just a colour-scheme plan for my army, sort of a "sunset" vibe.

Aww... i really wanted to see the shield... :( Can you take a pic of the shield? I painted a few for fun a while back, the shields i did was of the ocean, and above the horison it was night - faded a dark blue into black, with the occassional star. it looks pretty sweet

Other than that, it looks good. The gold looks great, but maybe not on the spear tip. I think that should be a darkish silver. The blue/white looks nice too.

Personally,l i dont like putting flock on the edge of the base, only on the top. Overall, a nice model

Tada. Do we get to see the ocean shields too? Pwitty Pwease?

You hit on the same two hesitancies I had with the model. I've never flocked the edges of a base before, and I really think blades should look like steel, generally. But, I was curious about the flock, and I really wanted and all gold/bronze no steel/silver scheme. We'll see, you might be right that it would look better otherwise... Thanks for the comment!

Love the shield, it stands out well. With your golds you could do a base coat of a dark gold mixed with brown and highlight from there. Makes my highlights pop really well. I like everything but the purple blue trim cloth. Its just personal taste really, and I cant think of what I would rather see because it does fit well with your color pallet. The gem on the back was done well too

Yeah, I thought about starting with some dark browns for the gold, but, I dunno.... That's what I do with my Woodies, all the metals start from very dark, and only make it up to actual metallics in a highlight or two. I wanted bright here, though, and I started with bronze with a brown wash, highlighted with a light gold, and then, in a few spots, picked out some glints with a bright silver.

And Oh No! The purple was my favourite bit! Like a sunset!!

I may have to re-think the gold though. You're right, it's a bit flat.
