so with the release of Chaos daemons ive put my Iron warriors on hold for a bit . .

my previous CD list was double Pappa double Grinder and a nurgle DP + some chaff.

With new psychic powers im very interested in doing an all MC list with a butt ton of psychic shenanigans, oh and losts of wings.

orginally looked at doing mostly Tzeench army with Tzeench DPs but was struggling for a way to kill flyers aside from vector strike, Slaanesh has a default greater gift which is lash of despair which knocks out 2d6 str 6 hits at 12" which x3 should hopefully deal with ravens and helldrakes?!?!?

anyway ive played one game vs GK with it and tabled the guy in relic by and of turn 5, he was running double Dreadknight and just didnt have much of an answer to 3x lash and 5x psychic shriek per turn.

so the plan for colour scheme is turquoise up to light blue for fateweaver, purple washed recesses and light grey up to white for slaanesh with black shiney armour, mayb purple between wings, not sure yet. So let me know what you think of list + models/ ideas etc etc????

Wow those models are looking amazing, nice work. I'm assuming the third picture from top is your KoS - would you mind giving a quick breakdown of what parts you've used?

I quite like the way you've done the skin on your first daemon prince, it looks very Slaaneshii. I really like the colours you've used on the wings, too.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

I have to agree the skin is looking nice. For me it is the wings that really look great. Are the wings from the Vargheists?

thanks a lot guys. Yeah the 3 princes are made from the crypt horror/vargheist kit, simply glued the wings on the horrors, talos face plates and tentacle bits for lashes. Not a bad price for 3 princes too, theyre a touch smaller than normal but being on rubble on raised bases helps a bit.

The KoS base model is the terror of anmar from LOTR a really cool model IMO, left arm is old school KoS arm, right is a spawn arm, head is talos arm plate that ive put some stud in made from rivets, his tongue and lower head are from the LoC, i was fairly happy with him in the end, he looks very weird and creepy which fits.

Should i give the KoS a weapon in his raised fist? i dont wanna give him a lash cos he aint got one in game, maybe a spear?

so after 3 games, 2 wins and a draw, i have adapted my list, moving the portaglyph to a Prince and giving the KoS 2 greater rewards, he should be be more survivable and killy in CC. Im just loving the adaptability of the army, you really can tailor the psychic powers and gifts to who you are fighting and the scenario your playing, sooooo much fun. Plus with a list like this you are all over them like a cheap suite in turn 1.

Fate weaver =300
Keeper of Secrets with 2x greater reward + Lvl1 (telepathy) =210

1) Does the portalglyph really produce that many troops?
2) How do you fare against flyer heavy armies (IG, crons)
3) How does biomancy work for you? I find it to look like the funniest one on paper at least.

Other than that. Very nice job on the minis. I really like the direction you`re taking here

Some people hate the glyph and think its a waste of time, so far i usually find it spawns a few small units that can hide and nab objectives and back up my other troops in the back field, or allow them to drop mid field. yeah its crap armour 1 HP but with some luck its dropped out of LOS in ure DZ and is fairly safe, people seem to be targetting there big guns often elsewhere

i have played 3 games thus far, GK, BA, SW, tabled the first two and drew vs the wolves so yeah i will update when i get a chance to play some more flyer heavy armies, or anti flyer like new tau.

Biomancy is amazing having DPs with +D3 tough or it will not die or +D3 attacks etc etc is really cool, i think it can make em scary, make up a bit for the 4 wounds T5.

oh and thanks btw!

bit of an update, its been a while, ive been busy finishing my Empire army and terrain for South Coast Grand Tournament, got there in the end with it all. Got nominated for best painted and finished 5th overall so good result and a very drunk weekend.

anyway i have also been busy painting the big birdie.

after another few games with the list i began to realise that because of small number of combat units (ie mainly the DPs) i needed all the combat punch i could muster turn 2 to charge the enemy and smash stuff/ get locked in combat/ lock stuff in combat. Although Fateweaver is super cool and very shooty/ good for buffs, he is about as effective as tits on a fish in combat.

i have therefor dropped him for a standard LOC with some toys. this is panning out far better with four charges turn 2 and the keeper then normally making it in turn 3/4. Still a nasty amount of magic and shooting just with far more options.

so heres the WIP pics . . . c and c always welcome!

Very nicely done. I feel your models exemplify Daemons devoted to that god, and cannot wait to see how your nurgle models turn out.

And therefore, I blame Shrike.

thought i would post some better quality close ups of the individual daemons now they are close to completion. just a few more touches here and there.

have added some tall grass to the bases made from an old brush. need to get some leaf scatter on there next.

overall im fairly happy with the rusted metal look of the terrain they are standing on, i think it adds a bit more colour to the quite pale models.

the final Daemon Princepic is a new one i have added to the army, he is a repaint of an old model i had though. Since i want to take this army eventually to a few tournaments in the UK ive researched and found that the common points limit in 1850. Since the current list is 1500 ive got a big chunk of points extra to spend.

Keeping to the theme ive allied in a chaos marine contingent, nabbed the cultists from my Iron warriors army and spent the final 300 points on yet another prince!!! ( Insert evil laugh here ) Ive given him the burning brand making him a sort of helldrake/fighty character. In the pic you can see i need to add a lot more terrain to his base to get him to fit in with the rest of the crew.

so heres the new list with 6 monstrous creatures 5 of which fly all of which are psykers!

Lord of Change lv3 with greater reward (1 Change, 2 Divination) =275
Keeper of Secrets with 2x greater reward + Lvl2 (telepathy) =235

hey thanks, mostly just painted it on, darker towards the outside to represent depth, some white to represent a lapping tide, some shade on the waters edge to make the ground looks moist/slimy. then gloss the whole thing. i need to get some decent water effect on there though to add some more depth, ive heard clear cast is good and might get hold of some. Im prob gonna add some tall grass and a bit of building debris to the other side cos its a bit empty atm.

Got an awesome game in with a mates BA the other day. First time fielding the new 1850 points and against a very competent player with a good list. We rolled up crusade (3 obj) and vanguard deployment. He got to deploy first but i seized (Ha ha!)

he was running corbulo and a Divination Libby in 10 termies with two cyclones. Two LR each with 6/7 man assault squads in. a pred with las/heavy bolter. some sniper scouts and a Storm Raven.

prescience on 10 FNP termies is pretty nasty.

main highlights of the game as you can see in the pics i attempted to plough everything into the termies, one prince failed a 3' rerollable charge like a muppet, which resulted in 1 DP being killed in CC and the other two popping from a -1 instability test!?!?, ( i forgot at the time that one was a CSM DP and didnt need to test, doh!) eventually killed all termies and HQ however.

it was a bit of an unhill battle from there but i managed to puppet master one of his own meltas to destroy a LR, lol.
the game finished 5/4 to him but awesome game!

i learned that i deffo need to play with the army a lot more to get the most out of all of its rules and little tricks etc. Im deffo gonna swap out the LV1 biomancy on the Daemon DPs for a second greater gift. there are more flexible options for making them very survivable that way and i can still default one to the lash if i need to.

Flying circus vs GK, big guns 3 obj, 1850

Killed everything bar the raven and 2 strike squad members, lost all the big toys just horrors and cultist hiding behind the big building holding 2 objectives.

Happy with the result. Army wide preferred enemy against you is just horrible.
Black mace + misfortune is for the win against a grand master.

during the game warpstorm turned 2 GK into my heralds, tee hee. finished 10-8 win to me.

overall so far I think ive got the list to where im happy with it, just gotta drag up the willpower to paint 30 odd horrors now!

Not entirely sure of the plan yet, mayb a floating Ordinatus Minoris platform like in Hells Reach around, or just a good old tracked one, might just make an enormous mobile drilling rig, deffo gonna have plenty of mecha, tentacles, daemon things and AI robots defending it though.

Hey thanks a lot, I thought it was a cool conversion and cost effective too.
.
so little update, played a last run out of the old Eldar codex at my FLGC against a mate, he brought a pretty tough list -

off the top of my head

Eldrad in 10 invisible wraithguard

Avatar

2 x 10 dire avengers

10 x pathfinders

10 x scorpions

3 x wraithlords

the army on the whole has the ability to instant death most of my toys through either str 10 MC or wraithcannons, even a decent baldestorm could end a DP or GD.

Mission was Kill points and was hammer and anvil deployment. he set the meat of his army up in a box, fairly defensively against my flyers, I did the standard thing of hiding every MC in the world behind a piece of terrain like some orgy of whips and wings.

I then seized the initiative and flew down the board at him hugging cover, night fight so not much effective return fire.

turn 2 all the poo hit a big ol fan, everything charged, but like a fool of a took, I had moved two of the anti wrathlord MC (one with fleshbane and prescience cast on it + the CSM DP with BlacK mace) just clipping the edge of terrain, massive error and with their movement, unnecessary .

result was one DP being squished but CSM DP chinned a invun and beat the hell outta the wraithlord. In the centre 2x DP + LOC charged wraithstar, overwatch took off the LOC but over 4 rounds of combat they killed everything and both wraithlords that he threw in,

my kipper was killed to firepower and in the end the final result after muchos combats was a DP on 1 wound and some horrors and he had the scorpions left getting linebreaker. a win to me 9-8 skin o my teeth.

Im back painting some Nurgle CSM allies for my old Nurgle daemons atm,

playing in a 1k points league, restrictions are you must have a special character and an ally, really looking forwards to this because the points restriction makes it hard to fit too much in and points are very tight, will be cool to play some hero hammer for a bit too/ mayb see some less used characters.

my list is gonna be

Kugath
2x 10 horrors
2x nurgle soul grinders with phlegm

Sorcerer lv2 (biomancy) terminator armour
20 cultists

this list is tough and should be fun to play, all the shooting from the grinders and Kugath (who has a good chance of rolling a second large blast low AP poison attack).

I wanted a really unique model for my sorcerer, overall im going for a realm of chaos feel to this list with lots of mutants and chaff in the cultists. my grinders and Kugath are already big crazy conversions and I wanted this to follow suite.

green stuff needs a bit of touching up but let me know what you think?
plus he needs a name so suggestions? prob something disease related?

ive got some paint on him now, not sure what colour to paint the cloth on his tabard shoulder and banner, I want it to lighten the model up, maybe a yellowy cream colour?

plus I want to highlight the areas of corruption in his armour, I don't wanna use the same browns and oranges that im gonna use on the rusted metal, any thoughts?

Sorcerer Chlamydius is now finished, went with a yellow cream colour for the cloth in the end, gave it lots of mud splatters k to eep it looking mucky.

for the corruption in the armour I used some warplock bronze and other metals with a number of washes, then later sponged on nurgling green all over.

pretty happy with the results, gotta paint 20 cultists now, trying to get a lot of tentacles and gubbins in the there too.
Plus im tempted by the idea of 6 nurgle bikers to make a cool 1750 list, hmmmm . . . . .

so after having a lot of fun with my flying daemon army, finishing 6th at Brighton Warlords and winning best painted at War of the Roses, its time for the next project - - Terrain!

Plan for the board is to make a Borderlands style swamp board, lots of boxes and crates everywhere, rusted machinery etc. Imperial building in a Hyperion style colour scheme.

I want all the pieces of terrain to be hard wearing, fit to a strong theme, and to have characterful realistic features that draw the eye.

so here is my WIP raised highway, waiting for the resin central reservations to arrive from online.

Will post pics of the other the rest of the boards progress 2morow . . .

So the concrete central reservations turned up, they look really good too, mega impressed. I have sprayed the pieces grey just to get some colour on them for the game that I am playing tonight. I intend to do some more work on them though, add some piles of rubble, wrecked vehicles, some crates and to magnetise street lights to them.

so here is the progress on the swamp board thus far, much influence and inspiration has been drawn from the work of Bugbait, Tommygun and Ash among others, let me know what you think . . . any comments appreciated.
