My fiance is a very big fan of mushrooms, like Alice in Wonderland or the Smurfs or something, where little cone-topped fantasy mushrooms cover the floor of many areas. She wants some mini mushrooms to base her Tyranids with, and I can't seem to find any online. Are there any companies that make mushroom scenery or mushroom bases compatible with WH40k? Thanks ahead of time

There's these although they're a fairly small, UK-based company, so I don't know how good that'll be for you.

Get some green stuff and push pins. Roll a small ball of green stuff, cut it in half, and stick it to the head of the push pin. This is the result: http://www.necrotales.com/necroTutorials/tut_mushroom04f.php

This is also a little easier of a way to do it, but I don't think these are the ones you are after: http://www.necrotales.com/necroTutorials/tut_mushroom01.php

Another way to do it is to take styrene rod and work the end over a tea light, candle, or other small heat source. The heat will cause the end to bulge up and deform. You can then shape the mushroom on a hard surface by rolling it, smushing it, pulling it, dimpling it with a pin, etc. This will give you the various mushroom head shapes and just cut if off the rod a little further down to make the stalk. Experiment and have fun with it.

The Citadel Under-Empire Basing Kit also has mushrooms.

I'm fairly certain armorcast still carries some, as well.

I've made mushrooms for bases before by using a glue gun. Just do some little drops of glue the size of the caps of the mushrooms you want to make, on something that will be easy to pop them off of when they are dry. They will settle as they solidify into little flattened hemispheres, like tiny versions of glass marker stones.

Then simply give them a stem (I used short pieces of the brads I use for pinning) and paint them. Voila'. Cheap and easy, and damn near instant.
