Couldn't afford the forgeworld dread and had this in my box for a while. Whole conversion took about 8 hours. Including paint. Not sure about the base though, might re-do it

Excellent. I have to say, I'm more a fan of the Chaos Dreadnought style than the Helbrute 'mutated guy in machine style. I love the fluff of Chaos Marines trapped in Sarcophagi going insane!

Nice and simple, definetely got to agree with the other guy about the helbrute, the thing's basically a headshot magnet.

awesome!
i noticed you mention that you are on the edge about the base. just my opinion, but two things i tend to notice with chaos space marines are 1) grass does not look good on the base. even scorched grass is meh. dry barren land works a lot better. 2) paint the rim of the base black instead of green (or any color for that matter).
anyway, keep up the good work!

Yes!!! I would even go as far as taking deneb stone (or whatwver the new GW formula equivalent is now) and doing a heavy layer over the black. dont get it all perfectly though. leave the recesses black. do a black ink wash over that, and once it dries drybrush it with the stone again. awesome! Automatically Appended Next Post: It doesnt even need to be deneb stone. just an earthy looking color that will contrast with all of that black.
