I seek some knowledge from the Dakka hive mind. I currently have the Velard Mortarion - this one:

and I bought what I thought was a Velard Angron as well off Ebay - this one:

I plan to use them as counts-as Daemon Princes in my Death Guard and World Eaters armies. The Mortarion is perfectly scaled for 40k - just slightly bigger than a normal marine as one would expect. The Angron is not however, it is massive - more like Inquistor scale; twice the height of a normal size marine so looks completely wrong.

The question is, is this a Velard Angron, if so, why is it completely different in scale to Mortarion and if not, what is the 'actual' Velard Angron model that is the same scale as Mortarion?

I have the FW Angron model which would be perfectly adequate since it is the same height as the Mortarion model but I don't plan on gaming with it.

I'm pretty sure that's the Velard Angron. If you want one that's a little closer to scale, if you can find the one from Kabuki, it's about the right size.

Always hated the Velard Angron; his head is huge and his face is really awkward.

The Kabuki Angron is tiny - I have that one as well.

Huh. Really? All the pics I've seen he looked about the right size. I guess compared to the Forge World one, though, yeah he is pretty small.

He is smaller in scale than a standard marine

I have the Kabuki Angron myself. I'd say he's just a tiny bit taller than a Marine. He looks a little smaller, but that is because his knees are bent and his armor isn't "Space Marine" armor. It's kind of a form-fitting armor, like a Dark Eldar has.

We'll have to agree to disagree there. Compared to a Space Marine I think he looks weedy, especially in the arms and legs - the exact opposite that you would expect Angron to look, in fact. Regardless, he isn't the same scale as the Mortarion or FW's version of Angron. I seem to recall that the Kabuki primarchs are 'true' 28mm rather than heroic 28mm that GW stick to?

So is the consensus that the Velard Angron that I posted an image above is the actual Velard model then, despite the scale differences?t

YOu might also want to consider that the Primarchs were not all the same size. Alpharius was the smallest (barely larger than a space marine), and Angron was possibly the next smallest. Magnus was by far the largest, possibly twice as tall as an "average" Primarch.

I think Mortarion was a little towards the taller end of the specrum, possibly third or fourth largest.
