I think this is the natural position for all ork planes... nose down... in the ground. I suspect the ones that actually get into the air are the anomalies.

You know, for a race as aggressive, careless, carefree and "shade tree mechanic-y" as Orks- they sure do use a lot of caution stripes. I mean, really, are they over-compensating for their complete disregard for safety in all other things?

Great job on the air force, Cam! The First Kludge Squadron, reporting for duty!

for thatched roofs ... I´ve seen many peeps using teddy bear fabric and once covered in dilluted pva then combed to your preferred styling... looks promising!!!

the main selling point of this method is the open side of the strawbundles...third pic, only with this way as you did you get that natural fabric look I tried my hand with styrodur and wirebrush for the main surface of the roof... a sufficient look...but it cant produce certain effects...again well done!

question...will you be adding some colour to the carvings? the knots could be in red to add a slight extra pop?

cheers, vik

When I did roof thatch for my buildings I used a straw broom. Snipped it off to the desired length and layered it up slowly.

My wife says I should have created little “bundles” of the thatch and lay them on instead of building up the layers as that is apparently how a thatched roof is actually built.

I lost patience after the first couple of houses and ended up piling the straw on. It looks ok and good enough for me. But I could have done better.

Thanks guys.

Thinking of maybe bundling the threads. I'm using jute string. And unpicking it to smaller. Finishing off with milliput sculpted. But it is slow and results are OK, but not great.

Could you soak the threads in a weak PVA glue mix and let the dry so they are a tad firmer. Then they could be more solid when you bundle them together? May look a tad to plastic though.

That jute string has a really nice look to it. Might be slow but the end result looks great. I don't know if this might help you but for the next one try a higher roof structure underneath and apply the string thicker at the eaves. That way you'd get a thicker appearance without the need for making it look like yelms. Most Saxon buildings had pretty thick layers and they extended out far to allow for the formation of drip gulleys.

I love the carvings, especially around the door.

Your jute string looks nice after you unraveled it to smaller pieces, how'd you accomplish that? Mine stays in a permanent corkscrew shape.

I dipped it in water down PVA and pulled the excess off. Seems they come straight then. Plus I tweak them with tweezers, further breaking down the fibres.

This is still WIP. Can't decide on the yellow. Wanted a worn out look. But thinking of redoing it.

you never cease to surprise... thought it would be a new tank but no, you come up with a nice fresh idea! model looks great, and tho i understand your idea for a worn look... this one could really shine if you instead buffed it all up... at least only some scratches like in the fifth element... at least for me this vehicle radiates of this movie...!!!
