Kings of War is the mass combat fantasy wargame where kingdoms clash in epic battles. Featuring clear, concise rules, this incredibly tactical game is brutally simple, fast and fun.
It is at home as both a tournament system or for casual play, and includes all army lists for eight different fantasy races.
Developed after thousands of games and hundreds of pieces of feedback from the community, Kings of War is the game for gamers, by gamers.
144 Page Kings of War Rulebook
Expansive Background section
Rules Section and 8 Army Lists
Expanded Rules for Siege Warfare and Terrain
Tournament Pack
$34.99
The 32 page Core rulebook, and all the army lists are available online .
Is there really anything substantial enough in the Hardcover to justify plopping down another $35, beyond the gesture of support for Mantic, and the joy of having a larger hardcover version of the rulebook ?
Part of the joy of Kings of War was the rules distilled down into a 32 page book small enough to toss in your army box.

If it helps, I'm glad I have the rulebook-I find it a lot easier to locate stuff in a hard copy, rather than sift through electronically, but you may prefer searching for rules in an electronic format. It all really comes down to your preference for reading-if you prefer reading a book, get the hardback. If you prefer reading on your computer, a tablet, or iPad, just use the download options. Personal taste is really the only requirement. Oh, also, the book has fluff in it. If you hate fluff, then that will probably also influence you towards the electronic, free copy.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Thank you for your thoughts on the matter.
I hadn't really thought of the digital verses print convenience issues. I have the full color printed pamphlet version of the KOW rules as well as the digital version. They were kind enough to include a copy with my Dread Ball season 2 shipment.
Any thoughts on the Expanded Rules for Siege Warfare, Terrain, and Tournament Pack ?

There's also a bunch of magic items which are only printed in the 'main' book if I'm not mistaken.

I think it is worth it myself.. the Campaign, Seige and Magic Items are a bonus, and I was able to get one fairly cheap in the swap shop.

Definitely worth it - but the campaign and siege rules... need a lot of work.
There are much better rules in the first issue of Iron Watch Magazine - and it is free, so....
But, even allowing for that - I am very happy with my hardcover, which is currently living at my girlfriend's house....

Just to folow up. Got my book.
Makes me regret not backing the Kickstarter last year. The book is beautiful. The layout easy to follow. The fiction is enjoyable.

And the joy of that first game....
Looking forward to playing against my girlfriend next week - I am fielding Undead against her/my Dwarfs.
2,500 points - the biggest army that she has fielded solo. I may add some Ogres from the Kingdoms of Men list to her army, and bulk my Undead out with... I have no idea, yet....
The Auld Grump, maybe goblins?

My name is included in the printed edition so you really must buy it for that reason alone.
