Just bought the DV set and my first attempt is the hell brute. My iron warriors need some heavy firepower so it was a no brainier. Hope you like.
He's not finished yet as You can probably see.
The name I chose means "iron warrior" in latin
All feedback gratefully received

Looking very good! IMHO, I'm not too struck by the purple flesh, but that's entirely to do with my personal taste that your painting skills! As I say it's looking really good, I can't wait to see how your CSM turn out (Always liked the Iron Warriors )

More progress.
Plus a group shot.
Please note the land raider is only base coated.
Advice please. Stick with silver for the spine or paint it bone colour?

Personally, I'd go with a bone colour. I reckon, because your silver is a sort of grubby silver, and your purple isn't too bright, having a spinal column of bone is something for the eye to focus on when looking at the back. Also, having white bone gives it a bit more of an organic look - as though metal has truly melded with flesh.

Done a bit more on the flesh parts. Not sure if it shows up well on the pics

It does - much better I'm not too good with painting skin myself - I tend to avoid it by putting helmets on all my Space Marines (Mind you, being a Salamanders painter I don't have the luxury of using washes to put emphasis on facial features - onyx black skin you see )

Lol. Yeah, could be a pain.
As its bank holiday time again I'm anticipating getting a fair bit done this weekend.
Done some more work on the fleshy parts. The idea is to have him looking like he is slowly turning back to an organic state. Maybe as a reward from the chaos gods for the millennia of carnage caused in their names.
As always all feedback greatly appreciated,

Soooo many chaos eyes. Lol

Well, I'm surprised no-one else is commenting on this thread - it's not as if your model is uninteresting - quite the opposite! (I'm a fan of the Iron Warriors and Night Lords- hence my interest )

As for the bone colour - just a suggestion, but how about making a starker white, sort of like it's been bleached by the black light of Medrengard?

Ooh thanks warpig. That actually hadn't occurred to me. Been busy on the eyes of Horus tonight. All 8 of them. Lol. Oh and I've done the base too. Nothing too complicated as I don't want attention taken away from the hellbrute itself

Warpig. Dude you are a genius. The bone was "missing something" and I knew it. How's this for an improvement

Lol. Thanks anyway. May have got a bit carried away though. Tried putting some veins in there. Maybe I failed. Maybe not but if I don't try I will never achieve a good paint job.
With any luck I can reach the lofty heights of. "Good for an amateur.

No, they do look effective, at least from the distance you've taken the photograph from - the flesh looks more pinky and sort of raw now - I suppose all the better considering it's daemonic status. Looking good

Thanks. Not quite sure where to go with him next, so I might have to take a bit of a break.

Well. Finally broke the block on this guy. Not sure if it shows but I've finished the skin.
Also re based him. Just have to paint the dying Ork for the base and I'm pretty much done.
Oh and for anyone else thinking of removing the plastic rock on his foot. It really is a pain to do by hand, if I had to do it again I'd use a dremel

The last few pics you out up are really awesome, I thing you did a great job of taking the constructive criticism and improving the paint job, looks pretty amazing now.

Thanks again. The only reason I post pics is for the c&c.
Sometimes it takes another persons view to give a proper perspective on a mini. I'm under no illusions as to my ability, but I do want to improve, and the best way to do that is to seek advice.
