Thanks Peregrine.
Interesting news about the Tetras. They were possibly good for a long time.
Its also interesting the XV-9's PIG's dont seem to have inherited the new Ion profiles, from what I can gather they have stayed the same. Same with the Fusion Cascades, TBH I just have more questions after reading that.

From the sounds fo it, tetras aren't necessarily bad, they just reduced the cost and the number of markerlights on each one, which is fine, makes splitting out the marker lights easier. Less wasted marker lights.

Ill still be using my Tetras either way. 2 will still get you 4 Twinlinked markers and im hoping the points decrease will offset the loss of marker shots and that D-pods dont come standard anymore.
The new hamerhead turrets make little sense with the loss of multi trackers. Apparently each turret is comprised of 2 seperae weapons, but since its not a fast skimmer you could only move and shoot 1 at full BS? This sound about right?
Hopefully the XV-9's points decrease will allow them to be viable in games sub 2k points.

Exactly. The stupidity of removing multitrackers continues. You should ask the people you play with if you can make a house rule that the two guns fire as a single weapon (since they're a single turret, even if they aren't twin-linked rules-wise).
hotsauceman1 wrote:Two marker lights only?

It's not that bad actually, they get a major point cost decrease so your markerlights per point remain about the same (especially once you account for the loss of BS 4 since the codex removed targeting arrays). They may not be worth taking because there's so much competition for fast attack slots, but they're not a bad unit if you have the slots free.

All depends on the price decrease. Might be worth it if its really cheap and just take them i squadrons.
You get 2 when you buy them from forge world anyway.

Yeah I'm genuinely interested in the points decrease of those tetras, everywhere people have said it but nobody still say how much, can someone use an example of a comparable unit from another codex, points wise?

To me then my points and Slot will be better taken up by pathfinders who will hit on 3's and my forward markerlights will have to be something else like drones.

From what I gather he is much the same, with the same gets hot rules and the same rules that dont allow him to join a unit with his drones, which sucks. His warlord trait IIRC seems to be preferred enemy Independent Characters.
Only change i can see with XV-9's is that they have lost the rule to sacrifice their drones for auto hit and run but they kept their Retro Thrusters. Also it seems they can pick 1 piece of war gear from the armory and perhaps have some unique war gear options, or so i hear. Weapons dont seemed to have change but i find this hard to believe, I havent seen it personally.

From what I know of the new tetra, based on a guy in ATT that got a copy in the presale at the event, the price reduction is about 5 points only, and the marker turned from 4 shot into 2 TL shots.
But lets be honest, oldschool tetra was too good.
On other notes, Remora price dropped in about 40 points, and the LBBC shoots twice as much as before, so it might actually got kina good.
And the oddest thing, the sensor towers are now fortifications.
But the sentry turrets are not.
Akward...
Do note that the guy refuses to reveal too much, as ATT got a very strick policy after the whole "blogs shutdown" deal.

No XV89 huh? Hmm.. Wasn't the Broadside destructor phalanx led by an XV89 Shas' El?
I wonder what's going to happen with that. Considering that the broadside rail gun is now a heavy rail rifle and has dropped 2 points in strength I think, woth the news that the XV89 is gone that we will probably loose that formation altogether. Damn shame as it was the Tau's best answer to titans and other super heavies in apocalypse games.

Dont really need markerlights myself. More fire warriors works just fine for me. lots of fun rolling my box of dice when your squad of whatever gets close enough. loving the cadre fireblade and ethereal combo with the firewarrior footsloggers.
I dont see that Ralai needed an update or anything. Dude is a boss already. The weird 12" away and its a 3+ thing i could see being changed. GW seems to not like that kind of thing anymore.
Tetras werent bad before and they dont seem bad now. Give them a try and see how they do for you before you hate on em too much.
Sensor towers are fortifications? As in can only take one per primary detachment? Oh well. Dont really use the Aegis Line since new codex came out anyway.
I love my sentry turrets just cant seem to get them to work. I was hoping when i started using them that theyed replace the old codexes heavy dependance on battlesuits with plasma. Obviously didnt work but even as just adding some supporting fire they dont do all that good for me. I might be using them wrong. never seen another tau player with them.

From the thread on ATT it was also mentioned that the XV81 and XV84 suits are signature systems now. I ordered my book on wednesday so it'll probably be a week before I can read it for myself, but a shas'o with a networked markerlight could be a real benefit for a deathshower (2 single missile pods) crisis team.

Great for a Farsight/Shadowsight bomb too. A 50/50 chance of increasing the whole bombs BS by 1 without external marker support. Thats awesome.

My copy is in the mail. This is from /tg/ /tg/, I have a copy of the new Tau Imperial Armour. Sadly I don't have a scanner but I will share rules info. Starting with the units people are probably interested in. >Tetras Now (15 points less than an aegis defense line)pts each, special markerlight is Heavy 2 Twin Linked >Barracudas (same as before) points, 11/11/10 BS4 Infinitely better than the Razorshark. Has a full-size Hammerhead ion cannon, 2 Burst Cannons that ignore jink saves, and gets +1 to its own jink. Can take 4 seeker missiles. >Remoras Now (10 fire warriors)pts each, same stats (10/10/10 2HP BS3). Long Barrel burst cannon is 36" Heavy 6 Twin Linked. >Drone Turrets Majorly nerfed. (2 disruption pods)pts base, 11/11/11 BS2 vehicles with 2HP. Buy vehicle upgrades from the codex, so 15pts for Stealth now. >Hazard Suits Still (same as before) points, guns and gun costs unchanged. Have the full library of battlesuit upgrades now. >R'Alai Basically unchanged, and now officially may never join units. His gun is officially a Haywire weapon now, and he has a warlord trait that gives him Preferred Enemy (Independent Characters) tl'dr version, Remoras are trolltastic with 6 shots each and a networked markerlight for fewer pts, the Barracuda completely obsoletes the codex flyers and Hazard Suits are still ridiculously pricy. edited for points costs to comply with DAkka policy

Good to hear about the Barracuda, I think it looks awesome as opposed to the codex fliers which...don't. My question would be is it actually good by other flier's standards?
I might have to pick one up, it would bring some variety to my local meta where we seem to have universally decided that fliers don't exist.

Wait, are remoras the cost of 10 old or new firewarriors?
Also, doesn't that mean the Tetra is less than the price of 4 new firewarriors? If so, it probably is still the champ markerlight platform for the points.
