Has anyone bought anything from spikey bitz before? As most of us know, discount GW stuff is a rare commodity and I was curious as to their quality of service and speed, or whether or not they are actually reliable...

Highly reliable and knowledgeable. His brick and mortar store is named FTW games in Richmond, VA. I lived in RVA for 6years and he opened up shop when GW closed shop. The gaming community surrounding this guy is known as StonyPointRefugees, so you can google that to get more info surrounding his base of operations. Lastly, and I know I sound like a fanboy, but in those years I lived in VA, I went into Rob's shop 3x with more than a 6 month span in between and he remembered me by name each time. Since moving away, I've ordered from him twice, with expected order confirms and accurate shipping confirms.

I've bought from him though ebay, cheap, no problems, shipped as fast as you can hope for when shipping halfway around the world.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

Well, some retailers like SpikeyBits and TheWarStore get retailer discounts, which they then pass on to us since they (typically don't) have the exorbitantly high operating expenses of running multiple brick & mortar stores (though I may be wrong, but I'm sure from a business standpoint that's the reason for retailer discounts), which allow them to continue making profits. Typically they are discounted to 20% of the GW price tops. As for bits, if you add up the cost of all the bits you are ordering, they typically come out to be more expensive than the actual set itself, so they still make profit.
When you see retailers selling way under-priced GW stuff, particularly ForgeWorld models (since there are no retailer discounts for FW models), that's when you need to be worried about recasters.

I bought bits when he was able to sell them, and still buy models from him because there are no local stores with any semblance of a half decent selection. Stuff comes in quick(arrives within a week always) and I've never had any issue whatsoever.

He said at discount-I know places near me don't sell at discount, unless it's coupon day on everything at the store (which only one place does).

I can happily confirm the opinions here.
Ordered bits/kits both through ebay an via their website.
Fast postage, good prices (before the postal increase).
However I think they are phasing out bits due to the GW regs.

You're not in LA, and just because a store doesn't brag about discounts doesn't mean they can't give them. Its called being a good customer and making deals.
