What models have you been using for your vehicles in Warpath ?

Spoiler:

Corporation Strider

Starship Troopers Chickenhawk Marauder Armor

They are out of production, but you can find them on secondary market for around $20. They come with a pair of optional arms and multiple weapons.

I'll be scratch building my own out of comic book backers. I have a SHIELD/Iron Man theme going, so SHIELD ATVs and Quinjets will make up my vehicular needs.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

That sounds interesting. I'm a big fan of scratch built models. Please keep us apprised of your progress in that endeavor.

What Warpath vehicles were you planning on representing with ATVs and Quinjets?

I imagine ATVs would make a suitable Strider proxy

I'd have to go back to the warpath rule book to double check, but they seem to have land raider and rhino style vehicles, and those were going to be the ATVs. They actually have a good visual in Avengers: Earth's mightiest heroes in the episode where Captain America and Spider-Man work together in season 2. They have two differently sized vehicles. Those are my goals.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I know off the top of my head that the Corporation Army list lines up nicely with the 40K Imperial Guard army.

There are Transport(Chimera), Battle Tank(Lemun Russ), and Artillary(Maniticore,Griffin) vehicles.

The same vehicles could be used for Enforcers, or you could use Transport(Rhino), Battle Tank(Predator), and Artillary(Whirlwind).

What I'm really interested in is what are people using for the Forgefather and Veer-myn vehicles ?

Those are all excellent choices.

I googled looking for a source of that AT-43 model, it proved to be cheaper just to buy the actual model. If you already have them of course then you are golden.

I think ocassionally new sets appear from China, think I paid about £16 for a box of 3, but you would have to check some of the international ebay auctions.

Gonna wait until next January and then go nuts on the kickstarter, personally.

Like, 9x 2000 point warpath armies nuts. (Corp, Enforcers, Rebs, Marauders, Plague, Forgefathers, Asterians, Zz'or, Veer-myn).

Possibly 10x or even 12x if they fund some new armies on top.

The crazy thing is, I know it'll only end up costing me $1k - $2k to make that happen.

SS, that's what I'm thinking too!

Although, I'll probably just focus on four to six of them, and just build them up quite a bit.

I'm working on Enforcers, Marauders, Forge Fathers, and Veer-myn now. Trying to get a solid 1,000 point Army of each.

Figure when the KS comes around next year I can add to that, based on what I like in the new plastics.

I have my Enforcers, Corporation, Marauders, and I'll probably add one more race in. For KoW I have Basileans, Ogres and Dwarves, so I'm thinking 7 armies total should be good.

Academy makes a line of 1/48th scale simple model tanks. eBay sellers in Korea (Academy Hobby is a Korean company) sell them for $15-$20 including free worldwide shipping. Do a search for "Academy 48 tank" and sort by price and you'll find them.

I personally think the Merkava and the M60 are great for sci-fi. The T72 would also be a good choice. These kits are also fairly simple and build fast. The only downside is that the track is not individual pieces, but instead are black rubber bands you put onto the running works after the tank is built. Some people hate them, but I find they work fine.

The other downside to using any tank made after 1920 is the lack of sponsons. They were a bad idea and were abandoned shortly after their first usage. Mantic just has them because they're copying GW and GW has them because of their retro-WW1 tank style that makes no sense.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

My approach is to do orb mounted weapons on the sides of the turrets. I drill a hole and then get a plastic bead slightly larger than the whole and put it on the inside. Then I put my extra heavy weapon barrels from the mantic corporation heavy weapons on those. I figured with computer controls and target selection, the ball turrets can sync with the main turret and maintain fire on its targets as the main turret is turned.

But a sponson that a person shoots? That's just a giant hole in the armour. Even hull mounted machine guns were abandoned shortly after WW2 as they're just a bad idea.

Where did you find it? I'm always up for cheap, plastic vehicles.
