Our next game, Andy brought some more vehicles and some different aspect warriors and wraith guard. Hopefully you guys don't feel this was a predetermined outcome. I also have a new format to my battlereports please let me know if its better or worse.

Great battle report! I always really enjoy watching yours. First off, before I forget, the powerpoint change - I'm a bit conflicted on it. I like the movement/kill graphics a lot, but I feel the image quality is noticeably worse and the border is marginally annoying. All in all, I think I BARELY prefer the old format simply for clarity - though perhaps it's just my imagination. I feel your images and descriptions are really good so its easy to follow the battle, but those graphics do make it a bit more dramatic to me.

As for the battle, I'm sad the Eldar didn't do better. I expected they would, but I think dropping off the Wraithguard early really was a deciding factor. That could have honestly changed the whole game in my opinion. I made the same mistake first time I used Wraith-things and it almost cost me the game. Considering how expensive and powerful they are, you need to play them a bit more delicately. I find leaving them in the Wave Serpent til they can get into a perfect position is ideal. It's unlikely they'll kill the Serpent easily, and if they do, its even more unlikely they'll blow it up as long as you keep the shield up (and you most often should). If he's unlucky enough for it to go down anyway, he still has the T6 and 3+ to depend on, now that a lot of shots have been used on the Serpent.

I also think the Wraithknight will make a big difference. Honestly, you really need one in an Iyanden themed army to make it feel proper (I'm assuming that's the color scheme he's aiming for). The Suncannon on it with a scatter laser to allow re-rolls on the scatter dice would be brutal to your Necron foot hordes, or if he goes for the Wraithcannons that will be pretty brutal for your more dangerous vehicles and tougher models. I prefer the Suncannon though.

I think some Wraithlords would help too, though I'm not sure if he wants those. A scatterlaser and a starcannon (or maybe just two scatter lasers) can put out a lot of shots and they are T8, like the Wraithknight. They are just slower, unfortunately. They can also come with some flamers and brutalize most things in melee combat with a 5 point Ghostsword. I think he only had two heavy slots in that list, unless I'm forgetting one, so he might be able to make it fit.

Also, really bad luck getting that Prism stuck. It's unlikely, but he might have been able to recover for a tie or even a win if he was able to get that into proper position. He did play the Dire Avengers pretty smart to make up for it though. All in all, much better playing from this guy than last time, really used everything effectively other than prematurely dropping off the Guard. Easy mistake that he hopefully learns from, like I did.

You, as always, played very solidly. Poor decision assaulting the fortuned psyker squad, but its easy to under estimate how game changing those powers can be. I thought your really used the scarabs and their mom-thing (spider somethings?) really well and put a lot of pressure on the enemy just with those.

Once again, thanks for sharing. Always look forward to seeing more.

Thanks, I believe I have figured out the power point image quality thing and I removed the borders in the most recent battle report.

A better list this time taken from the Eldar, but still some poor choices. 3-man unit of Reapers aren't very playable, and Vipers are not nearly as points effective as War Walkers. Also some very poor deployment and movement for the Eldar player. The already mentioned Wraithguard failure aside, allowing 2nd turn charges from Scarabs on 2/3 of your troop choices makes it pretty certain you will lose the game in Scouring. Just seems like the Necron player understands the game and brings strong lists taking advantage of the power units of the Necrons whereas the Eldar player is fielding very underperforming units and not nearly as experienced as a player....so not all that fun to watch play out. Its like watching a new 40k player going to his first tournament without him understanding tournament format.

I do like the style of BatRep more though this time.
