I'm looking for some corrugated sheeting for a shanty town I'm building. As its for gaming pieces it has to put up with the wear and tear that comes with that.

Having ran out of my existing supply I went down to the craft store to get some more, but found out they no longer supply it on account of it supposedly being a for them to get in stock . I had a look about the other craft shops but couldn't find anything suitable bar some comparatively expensive model train packs (Ie each shack can take up an A5 sheet's worth, whereas the packs were £3.50 for about three A5s).

Any help?

I'm not sure what the availability of it would be in England, but Evergreen Scale Models is probably what you are looking for. Chances are, this is also the brand your store was carrying. They do plasticard sheets and produce a corrugated sheeting sheet with varying widths on the ribbing.

Here's their site

Ah yeah, though the issue with Evergreen is that they charge silly prices considering their competition. I came across some of their stuff in one of the more expensive arts and craft shops, but it was more than double what it was for the model train packs (which included details like nails and was already layered). Preferably I'd like to keep the cost down as much as possible (right now the biggest expenditure is going towards buying some doors and other finicky details).

Oi its Scotland ya yank.

Try corrugated cardboard boxes, or the coffee/tea holders common at gas stations, Starbucks, Cafe Nero, etc. Not quite as good, but pretty close, and much cheaper.

Regular cardboard boxes will work to with a little effort.

Get a corrugated cardboard box. Cut the box you will be using into managable flat pieces.

Dampen one side of the cardboard with a damp cloth and let it soak a few minutes. The glue will start to undo itself allowing you to pull back one thin side of the cardboard. Keep this on the aside for further projects.

Let the pieces dry completely before you cut then to size and glue them together.

One large box should give you enough for a few buildings depending on the size you will be making. I have used this method to build storage containers and they look awesome.

Get yourself to Hobbycraft, in the card making section they should sell a selection of card corrugaters . I bought mine years ago ( you basically feed card through two corugated wheels, crank a handle at the side and viola ! ) it was only a couple of quid. I cut up pop cans and feed them through personally. Make sure you get one with a corrugated wheel as they sell all sorts of patterns.

If i can find a link i'll post it.

I found one on craftworld direct , paper crimper.

This? Hmn, I actually remember having something like that years ago, though it was larger (as in you could feed a whole A4 sheet through and have room to spare). Typically its probably lost somewhere up in my loft. I'm surprised that Miller's (the largest craft shop in Glasgow) didn't have one of those, or even point me to them. ...Though I am the git that goes in and buys the awkward to scan/random items all the time.

*Looks at stack of Irn Bru cans. Yeah I think I can get a hold of the materials for one of those.

I have found good corrugated plastic in packaging. Specifically one kind of biscotti packaging my wife buys has great corrugated plastic.

Somewhere in south-central England.

Antics Online and EMA Models sell this kind of architectural plastic sheeting.

Is there a Fed Ex store in your area?
They sell sheets of it at my local shop.
Its used as packing material.
You can also get the stuff in rolls from a Teachers supply store..you know the border paper that comes in colors that teachers use around poster boards in classrooms? thats the stuff.

Fed Ex? The American goods transport service? Kind of doubt it. Preferably what I'm after is something plastic, with thin ...gutters (?). Cardboard boxes are typically too thick for what I'm after.

Hmn, Biscotti. ...May have to have a look the next time I go to Aldis for some food packaging like that. ...

AAhhh plastic.

Then your right Wyrmalla. The border paper wont work for you.

Good luck in finding a cheap alternative.

I say plastic as I know how careless other gamers can be when handling terrain (ie chucking Forgeworld buildings into a box one after another. ...Its a state of attrition fixing all the terrain at my club). However the earlier the suggestion of using drinks cans could work, depending on what knurler I can get my hands on. =P
