Saturday, GW Berlin-Spandau, I battled Tau with my Eldar.
Eldar list:
Autarch w/ jetbike, power weapon, rokkit launcher
2x 5 Dire Avengers w/ Serpent
10 Guardian Defenders w/ Serpent
2x 5 Fire Dragons w/ Serpent
3 Warwalkers w/ dual scatterlasers
Serpents had scatterlaser, shuricannon, holofield
Tau list:
Commander (deep striking)
2x 10 Fire Warriors
15 Kroot (outflanking)
2x 10 Pathfinders (deployed normally)
2x 3 Broadsides w/ 6 rokkit Drones
Riptide
Aegis
Mission: Big guns never tire - 5 mission objectives one in the centre (first one in rule book).
Deployment: Hammer and anvil.
Eldar got first turn.
At the pic you see 5 Serpents side by side holding DA, FD, GD, FD, DA (symmetric deployment
made some sense in view of the objectives).
Tanks moved forward at min speed to shoot all weapons (shields down).
Pathfinders were the first target. They were deployed between the Warriors, which were behind
the Aegis, and the Drones. When the dust cleared, all Pathfinders were dead. All markers gone.
Tau took the initiative. Broadsides with rokkit Drones are brutal destroying one Serpent w/ Guardians
in the centre (exploding) and the Serpent w/ DA at my left flank (stripping hull points). DA got pinned while
Guardians got killed by FW.
The remaining Eldar tanks advanced. Shields down and firing all weapons. FD from the Serpent
close to the Riptide disembarked and targeted this beast. Bad rolling. One hit and one wound.
The game went on. Tau got gradually decimated. One FW squad annihilated and Drones killed
quickly. The other unit of FD took on one Broadside unit eliminating it. The other failed a morale
check and fell back.
Unlucky Tau. Commander (deep striking) and Kroot (outflanking) appeared in round 4. They both
managed to kill my small DA units which were heading for my two home zone objectives. In return,
Kroot got taken down by Warwalkers and Serpents (shields down, 60'' range is really gorgeous).
The Autarch made it into combat with the remaining FW (4 models left) but had a hard time taking
them down so that one full FD unit had to help out to kill them.
The Riptide had a nice time, two times failing to roll for the reactor. It was funny to see that Tau
had almost no time to take on the FDs shooting the Riptide for 3 rounds (finally killing it). This was
eventually due to the pressure Eldar put on the Tau.
It was a nice game against a nice guy. At the end, Eldar won by 2:0 (first blood, breakthrough).
Tau had just the Commander left, Eldar three Serpents (two of which with one hull point), 5+1 FDs,
Autarch, and 1 WW.
Next time, I'll take a Farseer on a jetbike instead of an Autarch, since her damage output with three
powers per turn can be more helpful than the Autarch shooting.
Cheers!
