Well the next SD figure was not only started but finished.
Here he (?) is again- the Dragon Blade!
Happy with how he/it turned out. Still not sure what he is exactly. A kobold? A guy in a suit of armor? Really not sure.
Also got my Black Friday Ninja about 99% finished.
At least she looks somewhat close to the artwork. I'm satisfied with how she turned out.
Naturally after painting her it seems I missed a spot on her chin that needed to be better clipped off. Ugh.
And my first official painted Kingdom Death survivor, decked out in Dung Beetle gear and a stylish Manhunter hat, out protecting the womenfolk.
Camera is playing some interesting tricks with his armor. It's actually more blue like his blades, but really looks green in the photo. I did mix the two, but the blue is much more apparent in person.
Next up this week- Ahriman and stuff I can't show yet since it will spoil Barzam's gift...

I just wish I knew what that 4 armed lady was. She's a great Slaaneshi type though.
Barzam and I have been talking about playing this is not a test, so I started dragging out some of the Dark Age stuff I've picked up on the cheap to have suitably post apocalyptic looking figures.
The first finished one that isn't a Dragyri is John Woe here.
Not sure why this has so much light in it- I took the photo in the middle of the night and one of the ceiling fan bulbs went out as well. Odd.
I've always liked this guy though. Bunch of swords on him, buzzsaw arm, face is a tangled up mess of rags, all sorts of mismatched armor. Good stuff.
Also wrapped up this Hitech Admech guy. He's supposed to be a comms operator or something.
All I see is a dude plugging in his Ipad and using it to DJ with.
His music is so dope that Ahriman has returned from the warp, with no arms, to feel the groove!
Happy with my color choices for his robe and armor. As always Vallejo delivers a pretty close approximate! He should be getting his arms back shortly. Probably after I finish all the dangly bits on the front of his armor.
Up next is a lot of Trolls. I went back and redid Madrak's base while starting to work on the newest version of him.
This new figure was odd. The spear arm was metal, but the rest of him (including a quiver that's not glued on yet) were all this new type of plastic from Privateer. Not sure if I like it or not. Very clean for once. Details were sharp (despite my lighting obscuring them). Wishing as always I didn't start gluing stuff til after I got the body painted, what with the tartan and all the straps and stones on him.
The first of my Warders and a member of the Dhunian Knot. Or however you spell it.
Also found my other Firebreathers to finish off the unit. My hope is to use all my plastic Troll for Frostgrave. Probably use them as marksmen of some sort. Crossbows maybe due to the reload (taking another swig?).
Started putting a base coat on my Dung Beetle Knight as well, and working on the survivor wearing his gear. Not sure about her colors. Gotta have that anime hair on my survivors though!

The four armed woman is a Bride of Lilith from the Dravani faction of Aberrant Games' Rezolution. If I'm remembering right, the Dravani are alien vampire/demon things that got stuck on Earth and blended into humanity and control things from the shadows. The line is all over the place in terms of sculpts, with some, like the Brides of Lilith looking really good and others that look like total ass. Most of the CSO range looks terrible for instance, with weird gorilla looking proportions, melon heads, and mush faces.
New stuff here is looking good though. That Dark Age guy gives me a Voldo vibe for some reason. Ahriman is coming along nicely as well. With luck, I might evenstart my Thousand Sons this week as well.

Mr. Woe gives me Voldo vibes as well. Homeless Hobo Voldo.
Your description of the CFO line makes me want to check them out now!
I saw your Thousand Sons stuff sitting around all week. Heresy, I say! Plus you had I don't know how many other kits sitting there waiting to be built (as I eye my pile of sprues waiting to be cut in front of me)...

The Gundam kits? I built those. The only reason I haven't built my Thousand Sons is because I didn't have any glue.
You've seen some of the CSO figures. I bought a set of their better looking figures from Brookhurst. I have their sniper (his pics are in my gallery somewhere). You may also remember that frmale officer figure I almost bought that I said looked like a 90s Image character. There's actually a really nice looking Not-Deckard in the line. If you want to see how wonky most of them are, just search Ebay for Rezolution.

Got the newest Madrak all done. Hard to photograph him due to his posing.
Also finished up the other Firebreathers.
Pyg guzzler
Keg Hauler
The whole team ready to party
Also finished up the female Rolling Armor survivor.
And with the previous owner of most of her gear, the Dung Beetle Knight him(it?)self.

To continue with the Trollkin parade, I finally got around to painting up my Skinner.
Forgive the glossiness. Weather hasn't permitted me to head out and dull that Agrax down. Tried to paint a nice coonskin cap for him. Not entirely pleased with the results, but it'll suffice.
Hanging out with his Warder buddy in the ruins. Like all good Trolls, they're probably going about getting plastered.
That's the first Warder I ever finished too! He was a day one purchase as well, back in MKII when they were the tankiest of tanks.
Also hanging out in the ruins are a smattering of Frostgrave figures I've started to paint. Top are metals, bottom are plastics. I was hesitant to paint them due to all the layers of clothes they've got, but finally I caved and just started using whatever colors I was already using.
I got this guy yesterday. He's the Forgotten Marshal, from the Resurrectionists of Malifaux. He will most certainly be used in Shadows of Brimstone.
I really like his sculpt, considering how static he is. Originally I had used totally different colors on him and he looked like a Rebel Alliance official from Star Wars, so I tried to get the colors more in line with what he should be wearing.
His face though reminds me of Tom Hanks for some reason. Or maybe Clint Eastwood the way his eyes are squinting and he's got such a grimace on his face. I probably should grey up his hair a bit. Too dark right now.

To be fair, it does take a lot of energy to paunt.
Being on vacation currently I usually can't sleep until really late, so I just sit and paint usually.

Sadly haven't done much more with those Frostgrave proper guys.
I did however get a new wizard finished for it!
I want to do more with his base but he's pretty much done. Lighting certainly isn't helping.
Here's an Ogre huntsman or whatever he's called on his super gigantic base. I hate his base, but he was welding to it upon purchasing him, and he has refused to ever leave it.
I cleaned off the original paint and horrible primer the previous owner used, but you can still see traces of it on some spots even after I tried to sand the roughness out of it. At least he's just about done. Needs some highlights and touch up, and a victory black track around his base to finish him off.
My unit of warders is finally nearing completion. How many years have I owned them now? A few! Since their release I believe... one guy is missing due to me dropping him and his arm popping off and needing to be fixed after getting ran over by my office chair.
A man named Sue from Malifaux. Maybe I'll use him as a saloon girl/ piano man for Shadows of Brimstone.
One of the Ronin from the Viktorias' crew. My daughter seems to like her, but she did NOT want to glue together and you can see the botched attempts in her sleeves. Yuck. Daughter likes how she looks though.
Started in on one of the Hadross Pit Fighters for Wrath of Kings. This is such an awesome box! Barzam got it for me during the holidays. Funny enough, every sculpt is unique and there's at least 6 of them, whereas other Wrath of King boxes have 2 or 3 of the same sculpt. Odd. Plus they're all on 40mm bases, so I'm happy. A few more are started, but he's the farthest along.
A random Skaven Packmaster. Why did he survive the rat purging that occured over the holidays? Not sure, but he's here to motivate the leftover rats that escaped the eBay genocide I guess.

Been a while! Real life doesn't want me playing around with little plastic toy monsters.
you real life responsibilities!
Lot s of stuff almost finished, but they are in need of touch up and detail work.
Apologies for all the glossiness in the photos. Some of my blacks and greys are super shiny, and the agras earthshade I have isn't helping either as it's a gloss bottle.
Two of the eight or so Hadross Pit Fighters I got for the holidays.
A super glossy looking Shael Han Child, who is going to get folded into my Ogre army (as evidenced by his far too shiny red skin).
The first of my Pistoleros de Latigo from Malifaux, who will more than likely end up being another Brimstone proxy once he's done.
Another Ronin from the Viktorias crew finished.
The new Changeling model coming along nicely. My hope is to have a whole Tzeentch skirmish group done soon. They've got some sorcerer buddies and Tzaangors coming along soon as well.
Starting work on the Butcher.
As well as the King's Man.
My hope is to have the bulk of Kingdom Death painted in order to play it by the end of this month. Antelope is done, Lion needs a base, and other than the Phoenix not even getting started yet, everyone else is at the beginning stages of being painted.
Soon we will finally play the thing!

All these are most certainly getting blasted with multiple coats of matte sealant.
Problem is that's downstairs in the garage and I'm not. Weather over the last few weekends in Southern California hasn't been very agreeable to spraying outside either.
All told I've still got close to 40 or 50 glossy looking figures sitting on a shelf behind me as a makeshift staging area, waiting for their turn to get matted down. Shelf is getting crowded at the moment...

Somehow I was inspired to get things painted up over this weekend. Probably due to me being stuck at home waiting for various people to show up that never did for house repairs.
First up- some finished Frostgrave figures!
Some plastics waiting to get matted down...
Some metal guys waiting for a similar fate of a less glossy future...
Some plastics cultists in need of highlights and getting their bases painted.
An assortment of finished Malifaux ladies that'll probably get used in Shadows of Brimstone instead. Girl in the front is a perfect orphan stand in. The Viktoria in the back, not so sure, but she looks cool. Angel Eyes, the Neverborn sniper, I don't know where she'll get used. Maybe if we actually give Malifaux a try? Got enough painted stuff to run fully painted Guild and Neverborn crews at this point.
The Forsaken's Elijah from Dark Age. This figure just really jumped out to me. Low tech dude in a hitech faction who is incredibly awesome? Sign me up! He's still pretty early on, but I just really like him so that's why he's getting shown off.
Some more early works in progress.
A close to being finished Frostgrave plastic soldier, another Malifaux ronin, and a Raging Heroes lady who might have been a freebie. I'm going to paint her up to match my Dreamforge Valkir, but she's just getting started.
The remaining two Pistoleros de Latigo, who have no faces, bullets, or detail currently. Gotta get going on that!
My Witchling Handlers, who I'm noticing are suspiciously in Dante's Devil May Cry colors, complete with ornate swords and twin handguns. Hmmmmm....

FINALLY- my house is in a state of completeness again! After having FRUSTRATING plumbing issues for months on end, things finally seem to have been solved. Now to go after the warranty and plumbing companies that seemed to have caused the issues in the first place...
To celebrate I started working on some new stuff and finish up things I'd already started.
An Avatars of War Chaos Lord I got from Brookhurst a few years ago. It looks like a mess of color he. I thought he looked sharper in person. Not that he's finished yet.
Sameal Hopkins, from the Malifaux "The Torch and the Blade" crew of Sonia Crrid. Cool looking guy. He'll be a Brimstone hero soon enough.
The last of the Outcast Ronins that came with the Viktorias crew. Her skin on her legs came out really bad. Yuck. May need a few more layers of paint to smooth it over.

Nice to see all you Dakka people again this weekend!
Surprisingly I didn't end up purchasing much. Whoever gave me the sweet deal on those shooty Ogres, thanks! Much appreciated!
In addition to try to hawk all the stuff that I don't think I'll get around to painting any time soon, I did actually do some painting this weekend.
First I finished up two more Frostgrave guys I'd already started- a 2 handed swordsman (templar?) and an archer:
Archer still needs his base done.
I tried painting up a Shadows of Brimstone bandit from the Frontier Town expansion. There is no discernible face on the guy whatsoever. None at all.
We'll get that glossiness down once the weather can stay stable enough to spray outside again. Need to polish up his boots as well as do his base.
I've also been working on a Tara crew from Malifaux, who will also be go to proxies for Brimstone.
Her original sword was broken before I even opened the package. A shame, but then again, it's super long and weird. I think her new one was originally a Genestealer or Daemonette's claw. I need to do more with her base before she's "finished."
Another random plastic figure- The Dragonslayer, a Goritsi specialist from Wrath of Kings.
After picking up Gorechosen last week, and finally getting a chance to play it this weekend, I felt it was time to get some of my Chaos forces painted up.
First up is an Avatars of War Chaos Champion, who I really like. Guy has lots of fun details all over him. 3 extra swords, skulls everywhere, spikey bits, horns... dude has it all!
The Aspiring Deathbringer from Gorechosen actually seeing some serious progress by the weekend.
Here's the Slaughterpriest as well, who isn't as far along as the Deathbringer, but is looking a bit better regardless.
Here's the Skullgrinder and Exalted Deathbringer from the game as well for reference.
Gotta say, the game really was pretty fun. Some incredibly wild dice rolls, lots of yelling and teasing, and very easy to turn into a drinking game (take a shot for every critical injury?). Hope to finish up the Slaughterpriest and Deathbringer by Saturday so we can play next weekend. Of course that depends on if the moisture in the air can clear out long enough for me to spray things.

...aaand all those Gorechosen guys are based and done now!
I'll try to get a picture after they all get a matte spray. We'll probably end up playing again this weekend.
Continuing to plug away at a lot of half started projects. Doing some serious cleaning of my unfinished hobby projects, as well as stuff that's sitting around gathering dust.
I started in on this slayer that came from Bob the Inquisitor's collection, but I don't know what type of Slayer he is? Or is he a berserker? I have no idea, and can't seem to find him in any old Citadel catalogs.
I also ended up painting him with pants, but his butt cheeks are so well defined I'm guessing he's probably supposed to be a Skyclad berserker, as he's got a rune suspiciously hanging in front of his junk. He also has a rat hanging off his back. No idea what that's all about.
Going to do his eyes, some highlights, and a wash to his hair, and then it's time to base him.
Not sure about the axe handle color choice. Should I keep the off- white? Black? Red?
A Menoth caster that I absolutely was unhappy with for a very long time, and couldn't get him to work with the color scheme my Menoth stuff is in. I'm satisfied with the results for now. Still needs more work.
The Boxer, one of the first Wild West Exodus resin figures I ever purchased. Who promptly sat in a drawer for the last year or so.
I will be darkening his hair to make him a bit more like Daniel Day Lewis ala Gangs of New York. Also need to do his bow tie and a few more finishing touches.
Finished up Elijah from the Dark Age Forsaken faction. Still really like this guy.
Starting on Bendahrin Durshe, the Salt Flat Nomads leader from the Dark Age Outcasts faction. Very early work so far.

So I bought that Lord Aquilor guy on his griffon thingee, and rather than actually sit down and paint him, I went back and got started on my Age of Sigmar starter set.
Liberators and the Lord Celestant started, all in various stages of painting.
The starter set Paladins that I began working on at the same time are a bit farther along than the others. I really like all the gold trim on them!
Even got started on the Celestant Prime I picked up a few weeks back. For 25 dollars he was hard to pass up, even if the previous owner didn't bother basing it nicely or leaving the wings off to paint first. Slowly but surely he will get done!
That red ogre guy is Warchild from Shael Han's faction in Wrath of Kings.
He's almost done at this point, but that glossy agrax doesn't help.
Also started in on that Necron guy who came in the start collecting box.
I don't own the SC box though.
Also a random plastic Wild West Exodus merc that I don't know the name of!
