No pictures right now, but I'm in the process of building up a Swifthawk Agents force using just Shadow Warriors and a Skycutter.
In preparation for a "Build Your Own Hero" event, I just finished up converting what I'm going to call a "Swifthawk Watcher". The following is in effect: - HERO: 5 wounds / Movement 6" / Armor 4+ / Bravery 8
--- May take 2 weapons / 4 Abilities
------ Only 1 Ability may be selected that causes Wounds/Mortal Wounds
--- Add the Keyword HERO
It's a Shadow Warrior with an owl perched upon his arm, using the following:
Alith Anar's Moonbow and the Nomad Prince Hunting Hawk's Beak
Strike Unseen rule from Shadow Warriors
Eye Thief from the Nomad Prince
Quicksilver Shot from the Sisters of the Watch
Loose Until the Last from the Sisters of the Watch
Matt, how did you do those flames? Yellow base, then several layers of shades getting darker the further out you get? Looks nice!
Basically - the same system White Dwarf had for the fire on the Fyreslayers - white base, then all over with Cassandora Yellow. Then work outwards with Fuegan Orange, Carroburg Crimson, and the tips with Nuln Oil (sounds weird, but it works).
Really is a lot quicker than it sounds, and is the simplest/quickest/bestest way I have found to do fire.
I'm painting some Protectors, after finishing a Lord Castellent and Retributors from the starter set. Does anyone have any tips for painting white on the scrolls? I tried watering it down, using greys to highlight up but it is still coming out as streaky. Thanks in advance.
If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!
I need to get better pictures, but my old lightbox is busted up and I don't have a bulb for the light I usually use--but here's the basics.
I changed the bow overnight, instead cutting up one I had laying around to give him a better more ornate look. Thinking about bashing up some stats and maybe see about having someone make me an actual warscroll with just the statlines that I can print out and laminate to use him as a Swifthawk Agent Hero, since their only other option is a Skywarden on Skycutter.
I asked on the AoS facebook page if they would make blank warscrolls available for the players so we can make custom Heroes and the like, seems they're taking that pretty seriously.
He might be getting his own custom Warscroll made if that ends up happening.
Thought I would sign up and post what I have been working on. It is a little unconventional but I have been really enjoying converting my models. It all stems from one small line in a description: In the midst of battle across the Mortal Realms, the mightest of Human, Orruk, Aelf and Duardin kind were transported away in a flash of lightning, for a greater cause than defiant suicide against the Chaotic hordes awaited them.
I give you the Stormcast Orcternals
Spoiler:
This was near the beginning when a lot of blue tac was being used just to see the effects
My dracoth riders, I have another 4, and 3 varanguard that I plan on converting as I didn't much care for the new poses of the dracoth knights. Also check the dreads
My protectors, the aim as they are essentially monster/daemon hunters is to make them look as badass as possible with big trophies because when have Orcs ever been subtle.
This head is the 40k ork pain boy, my aim is to make it look like the left side of his face is burnt and his eye is missing. I am quite happy with the effect.
Sorry for the huge photos, I have no idea how to make them smaller.
I have a small force but I am happy that I have each and every model with a different head and I hope to make each of them as unique as possible. C and C welcome.

Have you done any female ones? (Sorry, long running joke around these parts).
They look really good, the Retributors in particular. The prime from the Starter set in the foreground looks particularly... 'confident'.
Have you decided on a colour scheme yet?

You have just won the internet of the day. (what the hell does this mean? Oh well I think it applies here. ) Hell you won the internet of the month, if not the year.
You will now know you have to post pics once they are painted.
Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?
Auticus wrote: Or in summation: its ok to exploit shoddy points because those are rules and gamers exist to find rules loopholes (they are still "legal"), but if the same force can be composed without structure, it emotionally feels "wrong".
And, is the OP the same Matt I heard recently on Heelan Hammer? It took me a bit of time to piece it together, but if so, cheers, thanks for doing the show, you're a credit to the AOS community.
My own Bloodbound are buzzing along slowly, but here are my latest addition, a unit of Skullcrushers:
Well, I don't have alot of time so I'll sum up everything above this post in two words:
Unbelievably Epic!!
Now then, onto my stuff. I'll spoiler it so people who like seeing actually well-painted models can skip it. (They're not finished anyway)
Spoiler:
Now then, as I am becoming a Stormcast collector(along with Brets, wanderers and maybe high elves) I want my Stormcast to embody a new Bretonnia as it were.
I'm going to make every Stormcast a unique hero that shows why they were favored by Sigmar.
Yeah, that's shovel knight in the middle. I like making videogame knights as well, you can see a mounted and on-foot Link in the background too.
The leftmost Stormcast is a Paragon of the Darkstorm hammers. Knights who crusaded against chaos into their own hellish realm and were forever blackened by the hell fire.
The middle knight is a Striker of Terra. A small order of knights that bear shovel blades and blue armor in memory of a mythic warrior who dug too deep into his own magical kingdom and feel into the mortal realms where he valiantly fought the forces of darkness. (Might make a Duardin warband to go with him.)
The right knight is my local leader of the hallowed knights that patrol the realms of Life and Beasts. A strong friendship between them and the wanderer Aelves.
That's all I have for right now. Hobby time is a precious commodity.
Thanks for the compliments, let me tell you the Orcternals have received some genuine hate from some hobbyists, but what do they know
No colour scheme has been decided yet, I am still in the process of converting them all, little bits of fur, and chain mail, hair etc. But I am really enjoying the whole process. Just trying to give a little character to the stormcast.
Also this thread really is inspiring, and I think it is a great way to keep motivation up thanks a lot guys. And thanks Davor for the winning the internet, its always been a goal of mine
Haha, how could anyone hate Orcternals? That's just too awesome for disagreement!
(in fact, once they're painted, you need to make a poster with them that says,"I've got a host of Sigmar, Mork and Gork blessed armored orcs. All arguments have been made invalid!"
