One thing about Amon Hen, though, is that it looks a bit too plain for a resin scenery kit that will - most certainly - be sold for a premium++ price. It does look very good already, but should've been a bit more intricate. Besides that, beautiful release.

Hey all

Has anyone heard any news of rumours if GW will be putting out any releases to support the AMAzon LOTR series?

Cheers.

The galaxy is littered with the single-planet graveyards of civilisations which made the economically sensible decision not to explore space.

Last I heard, no word as of yet of any supporting releases.

Finally some great news. Hoped for a imminent release for Defence of the North but that's OK, I am painting my new Dale Knights and I think they are fantastic (really love Dale style and still hope for cavalry).
More models will come as stated in the article so I hope my dreams come true.

Not surprisingly, GW have silently vanished the Ringwraith character pack that includes the Witch-king, Dwimmerlaik and Tainted.

Looking through the full list of Evil minis, i'm fairly certain something else has gone too, but I can't nail down what it is.

I thought the unnamed mounted Ringwraith 3 pack was also made available again recently but can’t see any sign of it now. Was around same time that they added the metal mounted Witch King MTO as the complaint was that you ended up with a spare mounted Ringwraith (3 x 3 unnamed + mounted WK).

Edit - Ignore me. They were renamed to Black Riders when returned to range in January.

So my January MtO has finally been dispatched!

Any other Australian waiting on theses might want to see if theirs is on its way.

It would have been nice if they'd done a 9 riders pack with the Witch-king. But I genuinely shudder to think of the price they'd have charged...
And somewhat understandable now why they didn't now that they've teased the new plastic Witch-king.

Gathering the Informations.

Fall of the Necromancer Supplement tease article.

Really excited for this:
The supplement also contains four new Legendary Legions for matched play enthusiasts, each of which focuses on the forces featured within it.

All of these Legendary Legions have a very unique playstyle. For example, the Rangers of Mirkwood Legendary Legion allows players to field a full army of Mirkwood Rangers who can duck and dodge behind trees to avoid incoming attacks.

Oooh, that's quite exciting - Good to see more new SBG releases rolling in.

Good. Let's just hope it doesn't go "soon TM" like so much other stuff has lately.

Witchking and the other bits next week (Inculding some sexy as dice). Going to be an expensive week with these and the Stormcast:

Finally, I couldn't wait until Middle-earth was blessed with illegible transparent dice at long last. At least they still use pips for numbers, and no weird symbols like the dreaded Idoneth dice.

They'll be perfectly fine on a table. It's only because they're on a white background they're blending a bit.

The returning miniatures in this article will also be coming back next week along with the missing Ringwraiths of Angmar -

Same. It looks good, but except for the statue and the stick-on stairs, I'm not particularly convinced its very modular at all.
There are too many things that you can't just swap and expect them to line up.

I'd believe it if the the 'variety of ways' is a low number like 2 or 3, though.

Also, hate the transparent dice. The top one in the middle is just hateful- I should never be able to see the number on the other side of the die through the opposite face.

The dice thing is a lot less of a problem in MESBG compared to 40k or AoS in that you aren't trying to read like 30 dice at a glance. The most you'll probably be rolling at once will be a half dozen or so except in pretty rare circumstances. I actually really like the new dice sets; probably not enough to actually buy them though.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Looks similar to the column and wall system of sector imperialis, but with hex columns so you end up with more triangles and trapezoids

Mrs. GG and at like the new Sauron dice and love the new Witch-King dice but yeah, they may be challenging to read. We will have to get them to see for ourselves in person.

So, um, I don't collect LOTR. Nope. But I'm so wanting those Witch King dice as the smoky green is absolutely beautiful.

Just need to figure the price to put some pennies aside...

Now only a CSM player.

Looking forward to getting that new plastic Witch King!

And I'll probably pick up the matching dice. The Dol Guldur dice may be tougher to read, but the smoky green-black Angmar dice should work with the silver pips.

And now that the Fall of the Necromancer is coming out, hopefully we'll start seeing more previews for the War in the North book.

Nice that the Witch-king is still so cheap. But damn this going to be expensive with all the Stormcast stuff too.

I like everything I see here. The Witch King is gorgeous even though not perfectly proportionate in my opinion. Ruins are fantastic and the dice are wonderful - I like to collect dice.
Really hope new rules are good too! I feel confident in Middle-earth Team.

Ray Dranfield is the designer, if that helps.

His resume includes the Rohan kits, Sector Imperialis, Dominion of Sigmar, etc. Great fella to follow on twitter, as he posts lots of info on how to get the most out of his kits.

The Rohan kits are incredible and versatile. I have purchased many, many of these sets. Look like I'll be buying a lot of the Dol Guldur kits if they are designed by the same guy.

The kit is completely modular and is made up of wall panels connected by columns so it can extend as far as you want. It's very short on floors but they can be scratch built easily enough.

It looks like you get 1 of the "decor" sprue and 2 of the wall sprue 1 of each wouldn't make up the 136 parts listed where as 1 of A and 2 of B is 136 parts.

I'll be picking some up for AoS as they will work well with Chaos or Destruction style set ups.

Spoiler:

I really like the metal banding on the walls. And the no-faced hooded statue. Glad to see Ray continued the Sector Imperialis design ethos with these, rather than the newer stuff.

I do wonder about the scale though. LOTR is a little big smaller than 40k/AoS.
