Without seeing the Tau list predictions:

2k points with 2 troopies? Better hope its not objectives.

Only 5 warp talons? There gonna get murderised and the lord will get stuck in the oppen and shot to death.

MoN termies are ok but why 5 power mauls? I bet you wouldnt run this (and the one on your lord) if you were against a sm opponent . Id think about dropping it down to 4, adding in a Lord in termie armour with a pf + lc then turning the troops into plague marine squads.

Everything in this list is at a different speed-
Footslogging cultists, 10 marines, forgefiend
Land Raider/termies
deepstrike jumppack talons/lord
Heldrakes Reserves.
Makes it hard to play well.

Not really any armour saturation. I dont think tau will have to much trouble getting through the av14 and the forgefiend. Id prolly prioritize the forgefiend and move away from the landraider as best as can.

Heldrakes will come in one by one and late. they could b your saving grace but imo they will be to little to late.

Now to watch the vid

Ahh 3 troops... still not enough

for almost the same reason you use your plasma pistol on your lord you should think about combi plasmas/meltas on your termies.

Pretty cool adl the tau has

Hmm shooting at quad guns?

So if the LR has nothing in it dont bother shooting at it. 2 lascannons for 235 points isnt anything to worry about- los/cover is fine. I would of cleared the warptalons when they were standing out in the open bottom of 2.

Anything out of LOS isnt in the wound pool and cant have wounds allocated to it is my understanding even for overwatch.

GG chaos. Id of thought tau victory on secondaries. Crusade is like 90% draw on primaries. Tau should get 1st blood and be able to deny linebreaker. Slay the Warlords the etherial is so hidden i doubt theyre gonna get taken out. On the other hand the wing lord shouldn get destroyed if he deepstrikes out in the open in front of a tau gunline.

I had taken a Combi-melta for the Termies, and yes I do use power Mauls against Marine opponents, just at this moment in time, most players in my area are running Xeno armies, and Power mauls still do well against, majority of Marine units as the Str modifier still benefits me and the amount of attacks are still a nice touch.

I use Warp Talons as they are great against a lot of armies I play against the only trouble I can see, is Eldar (both sides) and any Marines, but then again the "meta" is different in each gaming area, your area might be SM dominant still, whilst mine has a nice mix of all armies, but the Xeno's have a large majority of players. I also use Warp talons because I am a Casual player (as is the current majority in our group), and I go for what looks cool. I do not believe in "netlisting" or the "competitive meta" mainly because for me it sucks the joy out of the game for me, if I wanted to run my opponents face into the ground I would play my Cygnar in WM/H, because that is designed for competitive play, 40k is not imho.

The quad guns shooting at each other is surprisingly normal in our area as well

All in all we both enjoyed the game, and we both found it to be an enjoyable match .

TBH it was pretty drawn out with the first 8-9 minutes or so just discussing your list and tactics. you've gotta work on editing to trim the video down IMO.

The meat of the battle report was done fairly well although it was quite a bit louder than the pre game. I noticed thre was quite a lot of background noise and I assume you were trying to speak over that but your friend the tau player was pretty clear speaking at a normal level. Just something to keep in mind for future reports.

You sound pretty nervous in the begining and end of the reports with a lot of straying off topic, which should be the battle itself.

You should in the future post your opponents list as well as your own.

(just my 2 cents about tactics skip if you dont care)
Not trying to flame anyone but neither of those lists looked super competitive to me. The tactics by the tau player looked weak too. He had deepstriking flamers? why didnt he drop them on the cultists to try for linebreaker and your objective? He kept plinking away at targets that were a non issue, like the land raider and the space marines on the far side of the board. He should have been advancing his fire warriors across the board all game. maybe keeping just the fireblade and etherial groups back. You really had nothing let to take out those FWs after the talons went down, (which should have died immidiately but they weren't targeted) but he just hid behind the ADL.
(End my 2 cents about tactics)

I dunno to be honest I really wasn't a fan of this report at all. There was a lot of broad generalized judgements on how the armies play out tactically. A lot of opinionated statements presented as fact. Issues with volume and overall presentation. 30 minutes is just too long to sit and watch a report and there were a lot of things that could have been trimmed down.

That being said I do encourage you guys to keep trying and improve the videos because there are far too many short, text, carelessly thrown together batreps on the forums and video batreps are much more entertaining.Good luck in the future.

Ok thanks for the Advise atm Im using the YouTube Editor as I cant afford any other video editing software, and yeah it was pretty loud, but that's only because it was the MTG 2014 pre-release.

As for competitiveness, majority of players currently in our area play casual, we do not like the Competitive 40k Meta, and majority of us don't like Netlists, (we think when we use Netlists that the game becomes 90% models 10% skill + strategy and we prefer to win with our minds, not because we spammed the most broken OP units in our Codex's), and the Tau player is new to the game so he is always learning about his tactics and he is getting to know his army, and he is doing it very well Imo.
