My opinion.... wave serpents are better.

Vs wave serpents, wave repents are better in almost very way, and are cheaper.
Math hammer says,
Harder to kill using them as transports, have better transport capacity.
As gun boats, they are better vs...

Av10, 11, and 12. Neither are great vs 13-14.

Sv 2+, 3+, 4+, 5+, 6+, and no save.

T 1,2,3,4,5,6. (the one thing falcons are better at are t7-8.... But why would you use falcons when you have war walkers.)

Multiple wounds, or not.

And this is all statiscal evidence that supports this.

No matter what you equip the falcons second weapon with, wether it be scatter, lance, or star cannon, serpents are always better.... And cheaper.

Now fro my question...

Why would anyone use a falcon?
is their something im missing?

If you've already determined via mathhammer40k that they are inferior, why ask since that is the lens you are using? The !?!?!?!?!? makes you look pissed about it, and the "they suck. crap" part looks like you're already closed minded to the possibility they don't suck, so is there really a point to saking or is this jut a rant?

Its an obvious design intention. That way, when your opponent complains how OP the Eldar codex is, you can point to the Falcon and drop some mathhammer knowledge on them

Seriously, you have one tank that isn't completely optimized, big deal. Just replace all the turrets on your falcons with WS turrets and you'll be fine.

Because people like them? If you aren't into a competitive environment where you must bring your optimized list, casual games mean "Bring what you really like and have fun with it!".

If people like the design of a Falcon more (like I already saw here on dakkadakka), you can bet they will bring them

Falcons are better vs 2+, 3+, multi-wound T4, and obtaining exploded results from AV11 and 12.

Also, there is still the question as to if you can mount underslung brightlances or star cannons. If yes, the falcon is much better at doing damage.

Surprisingly... Not true. While the multi would t 4 is probable, I hadn't thought of that, but 2+ and 3+ armour the serpents actually better vs. I'd be surprised. So many hits and wounds make them take so many saves...

And why is there a question if you can mount under slung BL and SC? Hadn't heard of that.

And serpents glance vehicles to death, the better chance of it exploding, generally not all that helpfull with my gaming meta.

For me the question is, why would you take a Falcon over a Fire Prism. The FP seems more versatile.

If you remove the wave-serpent the current falcon would be doing quite well for itself. It got cheaper overall, now has a useful version of holo-fields (for 6th), and has gained BS4. I think that it still has a place in an Eldar army, but the issue is that not only does it now have to compete with the highly buffed serpents, but it also has to fight to earn its keep in an already horribly overcrowded heavy support selection.

I'm not super familiar with the Eldar Codex, but I thought the point of the Falcon was to combine decent firepower with a small transport compartment for aspect warriors that want to close, like Fire Dragons and Striking Scorpions. Sort of an Eldar Razorback. Can those units take dedicated Wave Serpents? If not, then they would have to jack someone else's ride.

Not saying that it's WORTH it to use it as such, but that was my understanding of its intended purpose.

For the time Falcons become the unkillable vehicle they used to be and Wave Serpents were considered the worse of the two.
