Hi I would like some suggestions on a few 500 point army list please for different factons. I have listed a few aspects of each army list that I would like included.

Necrons - resurrection and difficult terrain

White Scars - All bikes, attack bikes as heavy weapons...

Looking at starting a small warhammer army, Looked for threads reguarding these but especially the Necrons not sure if it was what I wanted.
I would like some army lists for each faction listed please. (Points are not nesessary (to comply with DakkaDakka) just specify "just above" just below" "Exactly" 500 points...

I made you a quick 500 point list for necrons (with better ressurection rolls and some terrain stuff) However the terrain stuff really gets good at higher point levels (where taking a C'tan doesnt take up half your army!)

HQ:
Orrikan the diviner
Overlord (ressurection orb, sepiternal weave)

Royal court
Harbringer of Transmogrification

Troops:
7x Necron warrior (you can swap this for 5x Necron Immortal if armor saves are more important to you)
6x Necron warrior

(This list is really meh, but at 500 points with the stuff you wanted i guess its all you can get really)

its 499 points by the way, hadnt mentioned it.

Ok thanks, that looks good to me

Orrikan the diviner and Harbringer of Transmogrification (is he royal court?)

What exactly does each one do?

Orrikan makes all movement in the opponents first turn as if it was trough difficult terrain (he also has a better weapon and can turn more powerfull if you get lucky)

Harbringer of Transmogrification has the Quake special rule on his weapon (enemies hit by a weapon that has Quake count open ground as difficult terrain durring their next movement phase)

A royal court is a unit you can take when you have a Necron Overlord (or equivelent) Which you can then split into other units or keep as one. (So you can put the harbringer of transmogrification + orrikan the diviner in one unit of warriors, and the overlord in the other unit of warriors).

You can't really make a 500 BA list it's kinda hard

Ok thanks for that all good about BA.

For necrons what about C'tan i've heard it mentioned somewhere that it ties in with terrain...?

A C'tan Shard is 185 points AND it HAS to take 2 powers (which cost points too)

The cheapest possible C'tan Shard is 205 Points, so in a 500 point army thats 2/5th of your points.

And with the terrain, it can pick "Writhing Worldscape" as one of its powers, what it does is all difficult terrain is also dangerous terrain for the enemy, if it already was dangerous the test is failed on a 1 or 2.

The other power that has to do with terrain is "Sentient Singularity" Which makes all enemy vehicles withing 6" of the C'tan Shard treat all terrain as dangerous, and enemies who deepstrike within 6" of the C'tan Shard automatically mishap if their scatter roll is a double. (for example 2 threes, or 2 fours, even if the scatter dice landed on hit).

Wow that's pretty cool. What is an army list you would suggest for 1000 points including terrain transforming?

Preferably keeping it footslogging if possible Thanks

I threw something together again (please note these are just to meet your specifications, not a competitive army, it can win, but it will have a hard time)

Points: 1000

HQ:
Orikan the diviner 165
Necron Overlord (Resurrection Orb) 120

Royal Court:
Harbringer of Transmogrification 30
Harbringer of Transmogrification 30
Harbringer of Transmogrification 30

Elites:
C'tan Shard (Pyreshards, Writhing Worldscape) 235

Troops:
10x Necron warrior 130
10x Necron warrior 130
10x Necron warrior 130

No sentient singularity (it costs too much for what it does, instead i put a second cheaper power on the C'tan)

Put 1 harbringer of transmogrification in each unit of warriors, and then put orikan in one and the overlord in one.

You could also do 5 harbringers of transmogrification and then 5x 5 warriors. (which means you have more Quake weapons, but less models in total)

I like the look of that. Does the resurrection orb create a bubble?

If not for 500 points what about this?

120 - Necron Overlord (resurection orb)
130 - Necron Warriors (10)

120 - Necron Overlord (resurection orb)
130 - Necron Warriors (10)

Not as complexed as you suggestions, but as a starting place would it work? Thanks

Ressurection orb means they ressurect on 4+ if they die, instead of 5+. And it only works on the character and the unit he has joined.

As for the 500 point army you listed, i would get a regular lord in the royal court of a overlord, give him a ressurection orb, and stick him in the second unit of warriors.

Something like this:

500 points

Necron Overlord (Resurrection Orb, Mindshackle Scarabs, Sempiternal Weave, Warscythe) 160

Royal Court:
Necron Lord (Resurrection Orb, Sempiternal Weave) 80

Troops:
10 warriors 130
10 warriors 130

Ahh yes that makes a lot more sense thanks, and then they can have equipment upgrades...

Do you think this would be a good place to start and then expand looking at the special characters and C'tan?

Thanks

At 500pts? Probably not, characters are usually too expensive to justify in such a small army.

This is probably the most basic necron army so its definately a good place to start.

@Imperial Deceit: Where do you see a character in the list he quoted?

I mis-read what he was going for. Of course I personally wouldn't take named units until atleast 1000 pts.

As i said in the first 2 lists i made for him, they are definately not ideal, I just went with what he asked for, resurrection and terrain modifications.

Great Thanks, I assume you play Necrons...

Do you find them fun to play? and do they look good on the table top?

resurrection and terrain modifications is definitely what I would like to build up to at least...

Yep, i have 3000 points of necrons at the moment, and i will be expanding soon.

They are extremely fun to play imo, because you can do all kinds of stuff with them (screwing with the terrain is just one of them!)

I have to say tho, i prefer running warriors over immortals, and having like 40 or more of the same model on the table gets a little boring (from how they look atleast).

I will grant that, necrons do look good on the battlefeild. However you will see a lot of hate for them as well, many people do not like playing against necrons because they have many unbalanced units. This is getting better but nothing can ever compensate for an entire army that is anti-tank.

Haha, yeah I suppose so.

I think they suit my style of play well (yet to proxy an army yet though).

I don't have a lot of time to give to 40k so I am looking at only a small army.

Are they easy to paint? I was thinking just Skull White spray undercoat and then Leadbelcher because it seems to define each detail well...

They are probably the easiest army to paint. Chaos black undercoart, airbrush metal, green detailing. Boom, Necrons.

they are extremely easy to paint! warriors are all identical, so its basically doing the same thing over and over again, and then just do something similar with the special characters.

Cool, is it possible to undercoat white (that is what I have) and will it make the leadbulcher slightly lighter?

It will make it much lighter.

Ok cool, that's good. Well thanks for all your help it has been really good.

I will go with this as a starter and then look at expanding...

Necron Overlord (Resurrection Orb)
Necron Lord (Resurrection Orb)
10 warriors
10 warriors

Should get the codex in a few days and be able to study the equipment more closeley

Thanks very much

Yeah white scars are my other army that I like too.

Can you suggest a bike only white scars list please for 500 points? That would be pretty cool. Thanks

Hi could you list a few other things necrons can do like that? I'm very interested in the terrain manipulation but what are the others? Thanks

Sure, il list a few:

They can "teleport" around the board (instead of moving normally they can deepstrike anywhere on the table)

They can create/repair units (Canoptek Spyders can create 1 swarm of Canoptek Scarabs each turn (thats generating 15 points per turn!!) And the Ghost Ark can repair 1-3 warriors!

They have a character who makes it nightfighting, and as long as it remains like that he can strike enemies with thunder!

The C'tan Shard has many more cool powers, for example he can allow you to redeploy 1-3 units.

They have walkers that, when they hit, make your entire army twin linked when shooting at the same target!

They have rapid fire snipers who can deepstrike!

The crypteks have so many cool powers, for example, the Harbringer of Eternity can reroll 1 dice every phase (his or the unit he is in), The Harbringer of Destruction can turn on or off nightfighting rules for a player turn!!

Oh and most of their weapons get glancing hits on vehicles on the roll of a 6 (which wrecks vehicles).

Wow! they sound really good fun. Thanks for that. I can't wait to get the codex and have a proper look through it
