Hey guys, I'm very much new to Imperial Guard and I have been looking for a fully mechanized army to use in 6th Edition that would be fun to use and still be decent enough for me to win games through strong tactics. While I like the idea of a proper mechanized Imperial Guard army, the Armoured Battle Company appealed to me for one reason alone; no infantry at all! Suicidal in a competitive sense, but fun as hell and it fits a theme purpose. Also much easier to carry around a separate infantry-heavy 40K or Fantasy army. To that extent, the Armoured Battle Company will be an extension of my future Imperial Guard force for when I feel like fielding an entirely vehicular army, while my Imperial Guard will feature a lot more Infantry for obvious reasons. Though having no scoring units is silly, of course, I plan to use a mix of heavy firepower and good durability with appropriate target priority to defeat opponents; I always prefer army lists that others say won't work. I enjoy challenges! With that in mind, what do you think? And yes, you don't have to tell me twice about the lack of scoring units! Cheers for any input.

Elites
Commissar Tank w/ vanquisher upgrade, co-axial heavy stubber, beast hunter shells - 190
Commissar Tank w/ infernus shells, co-axial heavy stubber - 175
Commissar Tank w/ infernus shells, co-axial heavy stubber - 175

Troops
Thunderer w/ - 140 (I'm learning, I realized I could take co-axial heavy stubbers for the battle tanks rather than waste it on dozer blades for these!)
Thunderer w/ - 140

Fast Attack
Vulture Squadron (2) w/ twin-linked punisher gatling cannons - 310 (a bit iffy here, a pair is overkill on just about anything but I really like a pair of them)

Heavy Support
Avenger w/ hellfury missiles - 170
Avenger w/ hellfury missiles - 170

I feel I have sufficient anti-vehicle and anti-infantry firepower to at least give me a chance at wiping out any enemy scoring units and their transports, while the Beast Hunter shells give the force an answer to pesky monstrous creatures. For flying monstrous creatures, I just have to pray I go first and have my Punishers come on, or I am guaranteed a dead tank!
As far as not having Vendettas despite taking Avengers, even though the Armoured Battle Company is entirely separate to the main codex, these are still units I would take in a regular force and I have every expectation that Vendettas in the regular codex will be given a mighty points increase. Though realistically, I just like the Vulture models more!

On the two Vultures, I don't know if putting them in a squadron is wise (though it is mandatory if I want more than one) however all I could have really done with the points otherwise is take either another Avenger (take the heavy stubbers off the battle tanks) or taken a third Thunderer.

Any thoughts?
It might be a decent idea to take a third Avenger, or maybe a Lightning, instead of the second Vulture just so I don't have to squadron any of the fliers up. I'm not sure though as the Vulture just seems too good a model to replace...

I was looking at 2 vultures for my ABG list in 1750. If you're going to do it, I would ally IG and get the other vulture as a separate unit. This will also get you at least 1 scoring unit, right now you have none unless the mission is scouring.

Battle tanks can't take co-axial mounts, only Vanquishers. And the Infernus shell is identical to the eradicator with +12" range. I would suggest getting Troop eradicators instead.

Hellfury is pretty lack luster. What is the purpose of the Avenger? if you want another anti infantry unit I would suggest using the non-missle upgrades.

Overall, I would
-- Demote the Commisars to standard Eradicators w/ no upgrades.
-- Remove the Thunders, (Beast hunter is better and still ID)
-- Remove the Avengers entirely.
-- Ally in Vanilla IG.
-- -- Take a CCS for more fire power.
-- -- Use Vets as scoring units
-- -- Put your second Vulture in the FA slot of the allies.

This does leave you lacking the AA to take out a Stormraven, but otherwise, is solid. Use any points left over to take exterminators to supplement the AA. Take without HB sponsons if trying to pack in as many as possible for AA otherwise run them with.

I play +
