Hello everyone! This is a battle that took place yesterday at my
FLGS against a good friend of mine. He was wanting to play his Saim Hann Mechdar since he has been a long time
IG player like me and since I had not had enough games
IMO playing with the Farsight Enclave I decided to give it a whirl as a "Tourney Prep" of sorts for both of us as there is a 1400pt. Tournament taking place next month and we want to get better with these armies. This was also his first game in a long time and only his 3rd with Eldar ever so it was a great leanring experience for both of us. Now I apologize for the lack of photos but this was a last minute fight of sorts. The lists were as follows:
FARSIGHT ENCLAVE:

HEAVY SUPPORT:

*w/ x2 Scatter Lasers
-Wraithknight
TOTAL ARMY: 1398 POINTS
Mission: The Emperors Will
Deployment: Hammer and Anvil
Table: Was on the amazing Urban/Ruined City board that is at my
FLGS, there were x3 Ruined buildings down each long side of the table with ruined "barricades" located at different locations in the roadways.
We rolled off my opponent got first turn, he deployed as close to the center as possible to rush my Suits as fast as possible with his objective near the center of the table with him clearly planning on keeping the fight close. From my left to right he deployed thusly: War Walkers, Wave Serpent #1, Wave Serpent #2, Wraithknight, Waveserpent #3 with the Autarch behind Wave Serpents #1 & 2.
I decided to take a page out of history and utilize Hannibals "Curved Bow" technique deploying from my left to right: Riptide #1, Burst Team #1 behind it, Missile Team #1, Commander, Missile Team #2, Riptide #2, Burst Team #2 behind it with the plan to funnel his Wave Serpents into the center.
Turn #1 TAU:
My buddy scouts his War Walkers forward up the left flank however I seize the initiative! Taking advvantage of this I immediately pushed Riptide and Burst Team #1 up the left flank while the rest of my army shifted around slightly to get better firing angles. My Marker Drones laze the Forward most Wave Serpent dropping cover and one of my Missile Teams with increased
BS is more then enough to bring it down giving me First Blood, the resulting explosion kills 4 Guardians and they end up pinned. Riptide #1 and Burst Team #1 Open fire on the War Walkers, however my Riptides Ion Accelerator gets hot (I pass my armor save) but my Burst Team was more then enough to wipe out all three of the War Walkers. The rest of my Missile Suits and the Commander target the other Wave Serpents taking x2 Hull Points off one. Riptide #2 opens fire on the Wraithknight putting x2 wounds on it.
TURN #1 ELDAR:
Despite taking a punishing first Turn my Buddy aggresively pushes his remaining skimmers and the Autarch Forward towards my left flank with the Wraithknight running up the middle. Shooting watches Burst Team #1 vanish in a flurry of Scatter Laser fire as both Wave Serpents open up on them and wipe them out. The Autarch puts a wound on Riptide #1 however my Shield comes into play saving me from a wound. The Wraithknight fires on Riptide #2 Putting a single wound on it, the Autarch falls just short of an assault thanks to some luck on my part (he rolled snake eyes!).
TURN #2 TAU:
I reposition my Missile Suits and Commander for better firing lanes while Riptide #1 Moves farther down my left flank. On the right Burst Team #2 and Riptide #2 split up with the Burst team pushing down the right flank and the Riptide retreating from the Wraithknight. My Commander Lazes his Autarch and after both Missile Teams open up they bring him down! (I am in love with Marker Lights!). The Commander gets a lucky 2 pens on the Wave Serpent with only one hull point remaining and downs it with the Guardian squad bailing out. This is where things went horribly wrong for my opponent. Needless to say after two large blast templates both teams of Guadians were greatly reduced with one running for the hills, things were not looking good for my buddy. My Commander Fires at his Wraithknight but is unable to do anything with the missiles either bouncing off or missing entirely.
TURN #2 ELDAR:
With only a single Wave Serpent remaining my buddy knew that the game was basically over but wanted to play at least another turn. Zipping his last Waveserpent forward he opened up on my Commander and after his Shuriken Cannon, Serpent Shield and Scatter Lasers my Commander only had one wound left with all my marker drones dead! The Wraithknight turned and fired on Riptide #2 where he rolled a 6 to wound and it got sucked into the warp!
TURN #3 TAU:
With things changing fast I reposition my Missile Sides to move away from the Wave Serpent pushing up the middle while Burst Team #2 moves into position to try and put some shots into the Wraithknight with Riptide #1 moving to get a decent line of sight at both targets. My wounded Commander moved towards the left with Missile Team #1 preparing to add fire wherever it was needed. After all my Missile Teams and my Commander open up on the Wave Serpent bringing it down and once again Riptide #1 blast templates the Guardians killing six of them but they hold. My Burst Team #2 Opens Fire on the Wraithknight and after a massive volume of shots it only has one wound left!
At this point my buddy called the game as he only had a few depleted squads of Guardians left and a Wraithknight with x1 wound left, VICTORY FOR THE TAU!
After Reaction Report:
A fun and very educational game for the both of us with some shinanigans thrown in on both sides. My buddy admits the learning curve with Eldar is pretty steep, "especially the lack of bodies" he tells me but even so he did have some bright spots, especially his Wraithknight sucking my poor Riptide into the warp. The thing I am most impressed with this "Battlesuit List" is the amount of firepower these guys put out for such a low model count. That and the mobility I have, especially if I get the first turn does wonders. Let me know what you guys think and thanks for reading!
