After my last few games of watching my poor Tau being eaten by Melee armies, decided to make a fun list w/ some potential to punch back.

Tau:

Commander: Drone Controller, Plasma Rifle, Retro-thrusters, Neurochip, Iridium, 2 Marker drones (177)

Elite:
Crisis Team (3): Plasma Rifle (2x) EWO, Plasma Rifle (2x) EWO, Missle Pod/Flamer. (161)
Crisis Team (3): Funsion (2x) Target Lock, Fusion/Plasma/TL, Plasma/Plasma/TL and 3 Marker Drones (207)

Troops:
9 FW and 14 Kroot (w/ 1 Hound) 184

Fast: 9 Pathfinders (99)

Heavy: Broadside team (2) HYMP and SMS and EWO (140)
Broadside team (2) Rail Rifle/SMS and EWO (140)

Ally
HQ: Rune Priest: Runic Armor/Storm Bolter/ Jotww/Lightning (123)
Wolf Lord (due to Space wolves rule re: extra HQ): Runic Armor/Storm Shield, Frost Blade, Thunderwolf mount, Melta, Wolf Tail and Saga of Wolfkin (245)

Elite: 4 Wolf Guard: 2 Storm Bolters, 2 Combi-Plas, 2 Storm Shields (my "tanks"), Mark of the Wulfen and a Drop Pod (Rune Priest joins them) 242

Troop: 10 Grey hunters: Melta Gun/Plasma Gun/ Drop Pod (205)

Fast: 10 Wolves (90)

Think it will be a fun list to run w/ the tank hunting/AP2 Hunting suits and Anti-Air/light armor Broadsides coupled with the Melee of the Wolves. The plan is to Drop pod in the terminators w/ the Rune Priest and start moving up the wolf lord and his wolves into cover (hope for a 2nd round assault). Or was thinking of Dropping the Wolf Lord/Wolves and give the Wolf Guard a Land Raider Redeemer and an extra Termi w/ Heavy Flamer.

Just a quick note on the wolves, you dont have to have the 2nd HQ, but you can if you want.
I would max out on Tau and just have a small counter-attack SW squad or 2, Rune Priest is a good option as are grey hunters.

Its better to burn out than to fade away

I suggest you change the SW contingent so you can add stuff like Missile Drones to the Broadsides...

You could do something like this...

HQ
Rune Priest, TDA

Elite
Wolf Guard- TDA + Combi x 2, Combi x 4 + Drop Pod (Rune Priest goes here)

Troops
Grey Hunters x 10 - 2 with Melta, 1 wolf banner, 1 motw, Drop pod

Grey Hunters x 10 - 2 with Melta 1 wolf banner, 1 motw, Drop pod

For the wolf guard you can go either combi-Melta or Plasma depending on your meta.

This way you have 2 pods crashing down T-1, with another scoring troop choice coming down later that has to be dealt with. Its about 150 points cheaper too.Like I said, this way you can add Missile Drones, maybe split the Pathfinders into two groups of 6, etc.

Edit: If you were going more for the fun/counter melee route, why not go with all in on the Thunder Wolf Cav? Do a lord plus 2 or 3 more, bring a unit of GH as a mid field Counter Assault/Obj grabber.

Love to go w/ the 2 extra Thunder Wolves..however, they likely will not be painted for another week or two. I didn't think you could have 2 troop selections w/ an ally force though (for the 2nd Grey Hunter Pack).

I don't think you need the storm bolter on the rune priest.

After all he should be casting psychic shooting attacks every turn (unless you plan to swap for rulebook powers?).

Didn't think about that..thanks! And he will be using wolf powers (jotww and LL)
