Hello,

I was hoping to get some feedback on my working tau list, hoping to be very competitive:

HQ:
Commander, Multi-spectrum Sensor Suite, Command and Control Node, Puretide Engram Chip, Iridum
Ethereal

Elite:
Riptide with Ion Accelerator, Fusion Blaster and EWO
Riptide with Ion Accelerator, Fusion Blaster and EWO

Troops:
12x Firewarriors with Pulse Rifles
12x Firewarriors with Pulse Rifles
10x Kroot with Kroot Hound
10x Kroot with Kroot Hound

Fast:
6x Pathfinders
6x Pathfinders
6x Pathfinders

Heavy:
3x High Yield Missile Broadsides with EWO, 6 Missile Drones
3x Heavy Rail Rifle Broadsides with Target Locks, 6 Missile Drones (Commander attaches here)

Aegis Defense Line (no gun)

Total: 1748

The plan is for the commander to give tank hunter/monster hunter to the rail broadsides and their drone, give twin-linking to the missiles drones, and the railsides can shoot at different targets than the missiles drones, the railsides ignoring cover and armor, and the drones boosting their horrible BS2 with the commander giving rerolls, all while the commander tanks shots until needing to Look Out Sir, stopping str8 weapons or lascannons from vaoprizing broadsides.

The kroot are in reserve and outflank with the hounds allowing them to do so accurately, while the firewarriors push forward a line of pulse rifle death, the ethereal likely with the missileside group, giving better leadership to everyone he can.

The riptides do what they do best, being scary and need to be dealt with, popping tanks when getting close, and able to pie plate deepstriking units with interceptor.

AA is a minor concern, but I;m hoping that I can weight of fire a moderate amount of things down from the missile sides, with the TL missile drones from the other group picking up the slack. Also, I'm hoping having 3 smaller markerlight sources will mitigate the process of wiping markerlight sources off the board.

So..... thoughts?

Looks good. Since you have the spare points, grab a neuroweb system jammer for your commander. Its criminally cheap for the benefit you get. Might never use it some games, but for 2 points you can't go wrong with giving nearby enemies gets hot!

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

That is a great suggestion, and you're right, i literally have nothing else to spend the 2 pts on, so I'll add it for even that 1 time where a squad of marines blow their hands off.

Serling is right, i put it on my commander every game and use it as often as i can... for 2 points you cant go wrong with the enemy unit taking wounds on their own shooting phase... works really good for large shooty squads (i have best luck with it with orcs for some reason)

I should note that my main opponent is a marine gunline, but by no means do I want to tailor. I'd just like to win a couple of times His contemptor is usually a big problem, that and the Thunderfire, but being able to deal with 25-30 MEQ bodies is definitely a goal of mine.

Instead of the broadsides you can try taking...

2x ionheads with spines and d.pods (1 with Longstrike)
1x skyray with spines and d.pods

Then you'll have the points to put a hound with each of your Kroot squads and take another 6 man fire warrior squad then add the gun to your fortifications.

Will put you 2 points below 1750. Should make short work of his gun line and between the skyray and your turret flyers shouldn't last long

The Kroot already have hounds, but besides that, are a skyray, 2 ionheads (one with longstrike), and 6 FWs handing a now BS3 fortifcation gun worth the 36 missile shots and 3 str 8 tank hunting ignores armor and cover rail shots? Also what would the buff commander then be attaching too? I'm worried that while the ionheads would give me more MEQ popping goodness, the trade-off on firepower isn't worth it.
