I know 6th really hurt assault but I wanted to see if I could make a workable assault list with DE, especially since Incubi are so cool.

The premise is fairly simple. The Archon+Incubi squads go hunting for elite units to munch on but hopefully not fully wipe in the first round. The wyches tank bust, assault small squads they can handle, or sit in the venom until its objective time. The one warrior squads sits back and stays alive to hold the home objective. Finally the reavers are just a good all arounder and can be where I want them and have a good chance of doing what I want them to do.

So what are y'alls thoughts? Wait till 7th edition? I think I'll either table or be tabled with this force, although thats kind of the DE way. Any way to change it or things to modify without losing the more assault feel? Thanks in advance.

The Twilight Zone

Assault is not near what it used to be for DE, but it is doable.

The major thing that sticks out about your list is the lack of AT. You have haywitches and reavers, as well as your raider lances but that is really it. You need to cut points somewhere to get some more lances, probably as heavy support(ravagers or aircraft)

The archon's squad looks good, although I think 3 squads of incubi are serious overkill. Drop one for points to get a ravager and such. Spare points can be dished out to each squad to make em bigger. Incubi are there to murder other big nasty things, but at 1500 you probably won't see a lot that you need them for. 1-2 squads tops. The other problem is you don't want your incubi to roll the squad too easily and then get shot to death next turn.

Keep the kabbie raider with a dark lance, you need the AT. Terminators are easy to handle with all your incubi.

Reavers should always come in groups of 3, so either add one or drop 2(I would drop two).

Also, consider aethersails on your assault raiders, and a liquifier for the hamey.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Do those wyches in the Venoms have Haywire Grenades? if not, I would try to find the points for those as they give you a serious answer to any vehicles you may encounter. Also, what is your strategy for Anti-Air?
