Hi!

It's taken me long enough but I finally finished my first fully painted and based squad.
Most of the models are sourced from the AOBR kit, I plan on replacing 3 of them with marines that have assault legs.
The Sergeant is sourced from the AOBR kit, I cut off his pointing hand and replaced it with a power sword which is actually a chainsword hand/grip with a power sword blade glued to it.

I learnt a lot in the course of painting this squad, I tried wet blending for the first time on the sergeants power sword, painted my first plasma weapons,
I tried painting skin for the first time and nutted out what I think is a solid painting process for pumping out the other 5000+ points.

In the pictures you will notice that a couple of the Space marines have a scratching effect applied to the shoulder pads where as the others don't.
I had great success with this technique when painting white BT shoulder pads & I thought it would really add some character to a Flesh Tearers SM considering the nature of the chapter but i'm not so sure about how it looks on a Black surface.
Does anyone think I should apply this scratch affect to all the models in my army, or should I give it a miss?
Asides from the pads I'm super happy with how the technique on the feet/legs turned out.

Any advice that could be given to improve my results would be much appreciated.

Wow, those look great! Your red has lots of depth, it makes the models really stand out!

Also, you may have better luck with replies if this was in the Showcase forum.

Been reading the Blood Angels series the past week, and I have to say I like the Flesh Tearers and their color scheme. Your models look good, nice work.

I'll add my ten-penneth - they're looking pretty epic. I don't know why you would think otherwise, but the scratches actually look really effective, at least at this visual range. Perhaps it's different up close, but I think you should go ahead and apply them to other models. Well done
