Hey, I was wondering how I should paint a Land Raider? Specifically I mean when. Do most people assemble it and paint it or paint it and assemble it? I was wondering because it has the interior design but I'm guessing you don't see much of it when you're playing.

The Emperor may be able to see everything but do you think he can see why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

Generally people don't paint the interior, unless they're going all out and magnetizing the side doors to open, putting in lights, that sort of thing. Otherwise you can paint it just fine assembled, EXCEPT for the sponsons. Always paint those first before attaching, just to save yourself a headache.

I drybrushed my interior so it has something more than just bare plastic.

But I am in the crowd that thinks the best painted models win, and I will not let the interior of my tanks be the reason I lost.

i usually paint the interior befor assembling the land raider and just make sure no paint is getting inside when assembled and priming it

for the interior of the land raider, I don't even bother with the engine or any of the insides. The more space I save on the inside the better: I use it as storage for it's weapon and gak because it's a giant hollow space....

To glimpse the future, you must look to the past and understand it. Names may change, but human behavior repeats itself. Prophetic insight is nothing more than profound hindsight.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from.

I glue shut the front hatch and magnetize the side doors so i can switch out weapons, doors, and their positions depending on the variant I'm using.
Since nothing ever shows I never paint the inside, but i also don't install the interior bits...leaving some neat parts for future conversions.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

I recommend painting the tracks separately from the rest of the LR, then attaching them and touching up as needed. I agree that the sponsons should be painted separately but I also magnetized the sponsons and doors so that they could be swapped out. Same with the Assault Cannon bit. I prefer at least a basic paint job of the interior, especially the insides of the assault ramps since I do open them in response to the charge!
