Announcing the 2013 DaBoyz GT!

We are back for the 8th year in a row! We have an exciting new venue this year, the Bristol Harbor Resort in Canandaigua, NY. The majority of meals are included with your registration, and there is also a bar and restaurant on site!

DaBoyz has always held a belief in promoting Tournament Composition. Our group has reflected on this topic and we feel this continues to be part of the identity of the DaBoyz GT. We understand people have a lot of strong feelings about composition one-way or other. If you’ve never played with composition or in one of our events, we suggest giving it a try, because you just might enjoy it. The composition for both event’s is on our website.
We are also having Team tournament for both 40k and Fantasy on Friday the 22nd. The format for both events is Doubles this year. We are also going to be having events for Flames of War and X-Wing on Friday as well.
Just as in past GTs, we will have great times and of course awesome trophies! Plus, our end of the event raffle is loaded with lots of prizes!
We have some exciting new vendors that have joined us this year, which we encourage people to check out.

DaBoyz GT November 22nd – 24th 2013.

DaBoyz GT is featuring a two-day, 120-player Warhammer 40,000 Grand Tournament and a two day 60-player Warhammer Fantasy Independent Tournament, both of which will be held on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24thth.

Bring your best 40k, Warhammer Fantasy, game to compete at the DaBoyz independent Grand Tournament. You will find awesome terrain, prizes, and opponents!

Mark your calendars and start making your travel plans, because on November 22nd -24th, the DaBoyz GT will return to the Rochester, New York area.

Well, if Darkwynn endorses it then it is definitely good. Time to start looking for other people from Texas willing to make a trip with me.

In case you haven't checked out this event, here's some pictures to consider.

DaBoyz booked an entire resort for this event! Like, the whole thing. It's a rustic resort overlooking Canandaigua Lake (one of the finger lakes in NY).



Here's one of the halls that will be converted to gaming. Tons of natural light and antler chandeliers!



The gaming halls have a scenic view of the lake. This area is also part of the finger lakes wine region and several wineries are within driving distance.



In addition to nicely furnished rustic rooms with fireplaces, cabins are available to rent for larger groups. Several of the local guys have rented one and split the cost many ways.



The gaming atmosphere will truly be unique and if you stay at the resort, you can quickly retire to really comfortable rooms at the end of the day or between games. Bars will also be serving alcohol. Since they booked the entire resort, room rates are really reasonable at ~$100/night after taxes and charges. The resort also has spa services.

I was talking to my wife about the event and she was so impressed, she decided to come along and be my roommate =)

Hey guys, please do not forget that with registration is a complimentary lunch on Saturday and Sunday. And Sunday's breakfast is complimentary as well.

Here are the finer details:

•Lunch Saturday: Red & white hot dogs, char-grilled burgers, bulky rolls, assorted condiments & cheeses, red bliss potato salad, potato chips, iced tea & lemonade
•Breakfast Sunday: Fluffy scrambled eggs, home fried potatoes, crispy bacon, buttermilk biscuits, coffee & juices
•Lunch Sunday: Assorted deli meats & cheeses, breads & rolls, condiments, potato chips, whole fruit, cole slaw, iced tea & lemonade

There is also a cash bar right in the hall available from 11am until at least midnight each day.

Very neat-looking event. Pity it's so far away. :(

Not sure what I think of that comp system... 0-2 Warbikers in my Wazdakka biker mob? Ehhh...

Wazdakka makes bikes troops so you can take 6 of them.

Yea, it very clearly states that if it's a 1 to 1 ratio then you are limited to two of that new Troop unit. But if it's a 'unit now counts as Troop' then you get up to 4/6 depending on what tournament you are in


What does make me mad is that all the doubles tournaments are on Friday and start early in the morning. There is no way I can make that because of the whole job thing. I wish they bumped it to start in the afternoon and have it run into the night with the bar staying open until people leave. That would be a fun event and I am willing to bet more people would want to show up for it.

Since a majority of the draw is for the 40k GT and Fantasy GT, it makes more sense to give them priority scheduling on Saturday and Sunday and still finish at a reasonable time.

Umm... What are you talking about? How about you go back and reread what I said.

Ahh I read "bumped it" but missed "until the afternoon".

I'm not staff but if I were to speculate, I'd say the 8pm finish time is to allow a more relaxed evening of drinking and socializing. I know DaBoyz are very close to guys from Boston, Toledo, etc and probably want time to catch up with their pals.

Must have misread it, I thought it specifically said "even if they become troops still 0-2"

Can't say enough about this event - I held off on attending for years because I loathe comp, but attended last year (no comp) and had a blast. Once I got over the "oh nao comp!" mental hurdle and attended, I'll say I had an amazing time not because of the format (which is very good, and this years comp is super minimal/fine in my mind), but because of the guys that run this. They're dedicated to putting on an awesome show and totally deliver.

I'm buying my ticket now, because this is also me remembering that even though I booked a hotel room already, I still hadn't grabbed a darn ticket!

See you guys in a month or two!

The morning for the team event was chosen mostly for timing. We didn't want it to run to late into the evening and then have to get up the next morning and start the singles. This way people can relax and go get some sleep or more importantly have time to catch up with others and or drink.

I've heard nothing but good things about how fun of an event this is! Wish I could go, good luck, fellas, I hope it's a blast!

So a question about the comp restrictions.

How does the 0-2 of any unit work will allies.

Is it 0-2 total (so I can only ever have 2 Riptides or 2 Heldrakes)
Or is it 0-2 in that detachment (I can have 3 Riptides or Heldrakes if I ally with myself.)

I figure the intent is 0-2 total but it is not super clear.

Your first inclination was correct in that you can only ever have 2 Riptides or 2 Heldrakes.

Always a good time there, I missed out last year but not this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone and drink lots and lots of adult beverages

I love the new venue and going back to your Comp roots. I wish I could have made it this year but I have coaching conflicts.

Just a random question, but is Daboyz allowing same psychic powers to stack? It seems to be 50/50 with tournaments these days.

Yes according to the current FAQ on their website.

Quick question, does O'vesa count towards the 2 Riptide limit or is she exempt as a unique IC?
