Subject: Typhus metal or finecast?

So I have the Typhus model in both metal and finecast. The finecast version looks very clean and well molded. I was planning to sell the metal and keep the finecast, but so far everyone has told me to do the opposite... any thoughts?

Does the finecast version fall apart when you glue it together?
Does it look worse than the metal version?
Are you unhappy with the Finecast version?
If you can answer no to all of these with a clear conscience, then I'd say keep it. I personally have never bought a full model in finecast so I can't say I have any experience with them (Aside from a few Sternguard weapons that I was very unhappy with), but I would say that if you personally like the look of the finecast version, and it seems sturdy enough to you, then you may as well keep it. You'll find many on here that will shudder at the mere mention of finecast, but equally if you are happy with it, then there should be no problem with it. Thats all I have to say on the matter, go with your instinct.

If the cast is good, I'd recomend a finecast over a metal.

I have the finecast version. Because I wanted to do some modifying to the model, metal wasn't really an option for me. I haven't had any issues with my finecast Typhus, even after cutting/sawing and adding/subtracting parts. I did have to straighten out and reinforce his scythe though. Damn thing just felt like it was going to break in two. I've had fairly good luck with all my finecast models though. My only complaint is how fragile the stuff is, and the occasional bubble that needs some GS love. I've had more than a few small pieces need fixing because they broke off

After I already had the Finecast Typhus painted when a metal one fell into my lap as part of an eBay lot.
I'd say use the metal version, since the model and it's weapon won't fall to pieces when you drop it for the first time.

metal models are reliably in good condition. Finecast is..... pretty hit and miss, and it takes a long time to get a finecast model that is good. I'd sell the finecast model at retail price: a guarantee of a good quality finecast model should go pretty well, especially if the person knows they are going to get it hassle free and a guarantee that the model is in the best possible condition it's going to be in....

Metal -
Con: tends to get chipped frequently
Pro: Bent weapons can be fixed easily
- can be used as a projectile if needed
Finecast-
Con: Hit or miss on casting and bubbles
- fragile: if broken or snapped it can be very difficult to fix like smaller thin parts
Pro: Light as hell
- Pinning and assembly is much easier (well pinning)
If the finecast is ok then i would keep it. (i dont think typhus has too many thin parts that can snap)

I'll break down the my issue with finecast: As a consumer, with GW's history and advertising and branding, I damn well expect the contents of a box to match a certain standard of quality. I don't expect garage-production grade product, I expect quality controlled production line, especially at those prices. I made my decision last summer and have since stuck to: I have never again bought finecast after the disaster with the previous raptors. Even the replacements were absolutely terrible, and inspection of the model revealed that there wasn't even anything that could be done to improve the cast. The process is simply that bad that every CSM raptor off the production line would always have the same issues. (for instance, reasonably, only 1 in 20 jump packs was actually a decent cast, without any holes, gaps, or resin so thin that blowing air will rip a hole in it. The metal model will outlast the resin one, though a perfect resin cast from GW would be a reasonably high-demand piece. If I personally was in the market for buying a resin GW model, I'd go second hand: I can get it for cheaper, or at least it's going to be as near to a perfect cast as it's going to get, so paying near full price + shipping (so long as the quality is guaranteed) is worth it to me to not have to deal with the hassle.

My finecast one is very nice. I do miss my metal one that's back home though!
